bea.jolt.ServiceException: TPENOENT - no entry found

Maybe it's website work?!? I'm getting that too.

I just tried to log in to my page (you didn't think you'd be done with PeopleSoft once you got in, did you?), and I got the same TPENOENT exception. So I don't think you guys need to worry about this one.

Peoplesoft is working great now! Well still no indications of acceptance, but at least there is no error message

It's OPENING DAY everyone!!!!!! Woooooooooo!!!!!

In celebration, perhaps UMass will abandon its Friday rule and admit you all today 🙂

hey! does anyone know if Umass has any computer requirements i should be aware of. i plan on laptop shopping soon.

Yes, after an eternity of waiting and wishing and having hopes crushed, maybe UMass will, in true Sox style, give its fans a break from the emotional abuse and bring us a long-awaited victory. 🙂

Had this quote on my google page...

"Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet." -Aristotle

But at the same time I had Jim Morrison screaming "You cannot petition the lord with prayer!"

So not sure how to read those tea leaves...

😕 I think it means let the stress-induced vomiting from all this waiting continue......

No requirements. A few people have Macbooks. Fair amount bring laptops to class. Overall doesn't matter what you have, whatever you are comfortable with.

Since April is nearly upon us, here is some info from the spring 08 UMass thread to help set expectations and hopefully slightly alleviate the anxiety level.
I am sure someone will exact my estimates and look up all years going back to SDN founding 😉 but here is the general info:

4/3 - first friday of April - no news; lots of posts bemoaning the long process, several plots to exact revenge on admissions, one spontaneous combustion.

4/11 (Second Friday in April) Small number of acceptances

No reported news the next week

4/24 - Fourth Friday in April - 18 or so waitlist notifications, 1 noted acceptance

4/29 - the next tues/weds - several acceptances

5/02 - First Friday in May - 11 or so rejections(including me last year), i believe snail mail maybe email

Note, a few people did not hear anything at this point even after big batch of rejections. Not sure what happened to them, I had a slow mail and didn't get my rejection until 5/9, not sure about others.

5/12 - waitlist movement --> 4 or so acceptances

5/16 - final notifications sent out, no notifications noted last year but likely more waitlist/rejections? maybe random acceptance?

Beyond 5/16 - end of May had some waitlist movement and continued at a trickle over the summer

Here we come, extremely vague small number of acceptances!:luck::xf:

:xf:!!! I think those small number of acceptances were for March interviewees... but still who knows!?

I think we'll hear the most after Second Look - does anyone know the date for this?
It seems many people drop out after that allowing them to figure out waitlist rank etc.
This won't stop me from trying to get in an update by tomorrow morning... would it be better to send UMass the abstract of my poster that I am presenting Friday at a symposium or the actual poster itself (obviously not yet completed 😛)?

If you really want to do it right you should show up at admissions, WITH the poster and force them to listen to you present it whether they want to or not. It's the only way to prove your devotion 😛

So for those of us who interviewed a month plus ago, should we assume that we wont hear back until after second look or later?
Man, this process truly sucks. I think I am totally obsessed at this point.

I mean they did tell us April way back when we interviewed. It'd be a shame if by "April", they really meant "May".

raraxavis, thanks so much for your response!
I guess I totally missed that they would tell us by april. I really hope we hear back soon. Best of luck!

At least, April was what they told our group in November. I think that's the general consensus, though from past years it seems like plenty of people get accepted (even just straight-up, not off the waitlist) well into May. I guess we just have to hope for quick news:xf:

Acceptances will be given out through April, at least that's what happened last year. I got in at the end of April along with a bunch of my classmates and none of us were on the waitlist.

i was kinda looking forward to april (see above). am i missing something? why's everyone down on april?😕

Guys, this time-line debate is all speculation and not based on anything solid that anyone from an authoritative position told any of us! The only concrete knowledge that any of us has is that waiting sucks, and get used to it when dealing with UMass Medical.

Relax and go have a beer, or 10.

Relax and go have a beer, or 10.

Then I'm just a nervous wreck AND drunk. "...I'm not as UMass as you think I am...", "...pour me another med school!..."

Terrible combination 😉

I'm writing my second letter of intent to UMass right now. Just in case they were at all unsure about my intent...from my first letter of intent.

Also, Beckett is a beast, and my fantasy baseball team is very happy.

Which brings me to another point (I can't believe I'm only just now having this thought), there are certainly enough baseball fanatics on here, why didn't any of us think to organize a UMass applicant fantasy league? We could be neurotic about UMass together while being neurotic about baseball all at the same time! Think of the fun!

Ooh, I almost forgot to tell you guys. My paper that got accepted a while back finally got published! :soexcited:It's basically all dense organic chemistry, but there's some bio stuff in there too. We were investigating small molecule inhibitors of the botulinum neurotoxin (botox). If you're interested, PM me and I'll gladly send you a copy.

LET'S DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm an idiot and didn't get in any leagues this year... I would be so up for this.

Thompa want to be the commissioner and organize it? I could send out a message on the new UMass facebook group too.

P.S. I hope Lester's control improves....

Congrats!! I remember that feeling when my paper got published. Definitely something to update UMass about if you haven't already!

YAY!!!!!! And my paper was just accepted by JPR. Clearly we are a research force to be reckoned with!

I have decided that med schools should completely overhaul the current admissions process and implement something similar to the residency match. You apply, fill out secondaries, interview that the places that like you, and then submit a rank-ordered list -- and the schools do the same. Fancy shmancy match algorithm does the rest!

Day 1 of match: find out IF you're going to med school
Day 2 of match: find out WHERE you're going to med school

That way none of us would have to bother with this stupid waiting crap. We could even have a med school scramble for those who don't get in if there are open slots!

Fantasy baseball. As a native New Englander, I do love the Sox because they are my homeboys. And when they play the Yankees I will watch and cheer like a good fan. That being said, I don't particularly understand the rules (I'm getting better) and I've never grasped the concept of fantasty sports leagues. I think it's a testicle-related thing.

But, I will happily cheer for your league. I have nothing intelligent to contribute though.

🙁 My ovaries are very insulted.

Also, CONGRATS ON THE PAPER THOMPA!! That's really exciting!

My ovaries apologize to your ovaries. 🙂

Hey all, I've been reading this thread for the past few months and finally decided to register/post. I interviewed 10/21 and haven't heard anything since. Hopefully Fri will bring good news.

You interviewed the same day as me! Were you in the early or late group that day?

Good luck!

I was in the morning group. Actually, I arrived at the room almost an hour early because I was soooo afraid of being late. Which group were you in?

I was in the later group. (Also sat alone in the room for like an hour because I came so early!)

Haha, you know my pain! Do you think that we're going to get any news tomorrow? I heard through the grapevine that we won't hear anything positive (acceptance/waitlist) until the end of April.

I actually was accepted in January... but my friend who interviewed a week after us hasn't heard either! (Along with like 99% of people on this thread.) She called last week and they said "any time from now until May."

My theory is this (everyone feel free to attack me for being totally off the mark): Second Look is April 24-5. Why would they have a Second Look without having filled all 125 spots? They want people to come and make an informed decision, right? So, I could be COMPLETELY wrong, but my guess is maybe people will hear this Friday or next. So :luck::luck::luck::luck:!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Thompa! 👍👍

As for the fantasy league - I'm a rabid sox fan, but I swore off fantasy leagues last year when I got a little...ummm...overly into it.

Anyone see this month's issue of Boston magazine? Pedroia feature!

Aw Lucky! My (belated) congratulations to you.

That info that sounds correct to me. My fingers are crossed that people will stop sitting on their acceptances soon and open a spot up for me!

Didn't they have to have filled all 125 spots by the end of March though? My guess is that we'll see movement when a) finaid packages start coming out at other schools, and b) after May 15th. Of course just theories. 😀

Good luck everyone, I hope the wait is almost over! :luck::luck:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there an AAMC rule that requires medical schools to extend as many offers of admission as it has seats by the end of March? If this is true and UMass cannot over-admit at any point, then UMass would have offered the full 125 spots by now. Unless it is somehow exempt from that rule.

Since many schools have not released finaid packages yet, I don't think there will be many UMass acceptances until later on this month (when finaid is offered by many schools) and most remaining spots will be offered after May 15th when applicants are forced to choose between UMass and other schools. Not trying to be a debbie-downer here, that's just my theory. I understand how awful the waiting is...I didn't have to wait long for UMass but if it's anything like waiting on Penn to utilize its waitlist (and I've only been on it for a measly 2 weeks - nothing compared to some of you all) then I feel your pain.

But I could be completely wrong and all of you in limbo will get good news this Friday. :xf:

Totally stole my thunder. 😉

Lacheln and Linguini - You guys are totally right! I should have thought of that... Well, there goes my theory!!

director of admissions said on interview day that roughly half the class comes off the wait-list... deep breaths everyone!

But I liked your theory! It meant I was almost definitely maybe getting accepted tomorrow.

There must be a good metaphor somewhere for the three of you. Sitting up on high in your Accepted Thrones, playfully pondering the fates of the rest of us poor desperate commonfolk. 🙂

Something about a magnifying glass and an anthill comes to mind.

I'm at work so I have to be brief, but thanks for all the congrats everyone. As for the fantasy baseball league, I'll set it up tonight when I get back from NWH and if we get enough people, great. If not, no big deal. Plus, as commish, I won't allow anyone to get...overly zealous. 🙂

Oh childhood...
I think UMass is the one holding the magnifying glass here! We accepted ants have just luckily managed to avoid the burning.

Yeah, throne implies power. We're just hanging around your yard waiting for your parents to let you come play softball...it's hard with only 3!😉

Oh I like that analogy, way more pleasant than the ants or the thrones 🙂. And it reminds me of yards, and children, and softball. None of those things seem to exist in DC.
