2008 Tmdsas

I have Houston on the 10th, Baylor on the 12th. Anyone else?

For everyone who got an interview to Houston, when was your TMDSAS submitted?
 
I submitted mine at the end of May, and everything was sent by the 1st of June....I think they're really random with sending out the invitation letters, I wouldn't be too worried.

I have an interview with Baylor on 5th, but haven't heard anything from Houston, and San Antonio yet.. worried :(
 
got an interview with Baylor and Houston.. just heard from Houston this week via e-mail, and Baylor sent out a letter. My application was ready on 06/13.

If anyone has an interview with Baylor and needs any help or questions about the Dallas area let me know. I live about 15 min from the school, know the area backward and forwards, what is cool to do and what is close to whatever. Also, I've been up to the school to volunteer a lot, know the layout, where to park, and etc... of course that knowledge hasn't helped get that interview at Baylor... but I'm not bitter...yet... haha! Best of luck to everyone.

The homepage says processing is taking 2-3 weeks, did it actually take that long for everyone here?

Yes, but it might not taken as long now b/c most people have already submitted their apps.
 
I've got baylor friday. Nervous is an understatement.
 
I just learned today that the class of 2011 for Houston had an average GPA of 3.65 and science of a 3.6, with a 19.7 AA. Just thought y'all might like to know.

Yeah we just found out and it was only a group of 12 of us or so. They don't tell us anything. It does seem like we have a bunch of gunners.

im a florida resident and i got an interview oct 26th

Just wondering if anyone here has noticed a difference in their GPA calculations on TMDSAS vs. AADSAS. My science GPA is higher on AADSAS and I'm not sure why.

Any ideas or advice? Has anyone else noticed this?
 
are any of you applying out of state or just to the texas schools?...let's discuss :)

Yep same boat waiting on SA & Houston...and I'm applying out-of-state hoping to increase my options/chances.

bc AADSAS uses +/- (like if you had A+ or A- ) to calculate your GPA, where TMDSAS does not use this system. A is an A be it A or A- or A+.

Last year Houston only sent letters and no emails. They must be catching up with technology.

Yeah, I've only heard from Baylor and Dr. Miller told me in my interview that I was a shoe-in for acceptance. I'm starting to wonder if Houston or SA are missing parts of my application because I've heard from 3 other non-Texas schools since then.

well since you did have an interview, yes you are shoe in... but other than that.. how could they possibly tell you anything more?
 
Did anyone take the August 6th MCAT, and already receive interviews?? Also, what is your Last Master Update say?
 
I have an interview on Oct. 1 with Houston. Yay, but I need help preparing for the interview. What questions do they ask? And how should I respond?

Well, it's only one interview with a faculty member, mine was a specialist and he was very nice. He mainly asked me questions from my application, and he actually talked most of the time. He told me about where he went to school, his children, why he chose dentistry and why he likes Houston. It was fun, so just relax and be yourself (cliche, I know). You have to introduce yourself in front of everyone before they take you off by yourself, but it's not a big deal. Make sure to allow plenty of time to get there, traffic's awful and the medical center is HUGE and confusing. Also, google maps doesn't give you the correct location of the school. It's behind a huge waterfall/parking garage (weird combination) and it's a pink granite color- very retro.

congrats to all who have received interviews...as for me, i just completed my DAT's yesterday (aa-19, oc-20, gc-21, bio-18, pat-23). i am technically an out of state resident as I made the mistake of moving to TX in Dec. 2006 and not Oct. 2006. I am hoping that I still can get an interview as I will be a resident Dec. 2006, but I am prepared for the worst and that I may need to re-apply next year. My overall GPA is not the best 3.24, but I have a Master's degree in Physical Therapy (which is not an easy curriculum either) where my gpa undergrad was a 3.14 and my overall grad gpa was a 3.5...just curious what you guys/gals think about my chances for 2008...

Notwithstanding other problems, you might be behind the 8 ball since the deadline for submitting documents was 10-1.
 
all my documents were submitted...according to the tmdsas timeline and the TX dental school web sites, DAT's must be completed no later than 12/1...from UTHSCSA web site - Dec 1: Deadline for receipt of DAT scores...

If you applied through TMDSAS then you squeezed by as a resident. Your GPA is on the low side, the AA score is at the mean, and your PA is excellent. You should check out the stats for the class of 06 and judge your chances. If you are counting on the 12-1 deadline your chances will decrease dramatically since, as you should know, that is the date when the first round of acceptances are mailed out. It might be of interest for you to know that last year not a single Baylor enrollee made it from the waiting list. Good luck.
