Same here, I've heard that they are enrolled with taking the DAT. But I didnt' think they looked at apps without them. Maybe some people are just super smart people and fly above radar all the time.
 
i got an SA interview without my application complete Aug. 20🙂
 
my letters of rec. like baylor gave me a letter sayin you need to complete ur apps so as soon as i get my LORs ill probably get an interview from them. Yeah it's hilarious b/c i got an Aug. 20 date....so im like UTSA all the way 😀
 
I now have all three letters (email) saying that the schools have my application in hand. It is funny, I received my invite to interview at San Antonio before I received the letter confirming my application was there. Anyone else get an invite to SA and then the next week get a letter confirming that they had your apps?

Houston's email was the last one to arrive, just in case anyone is still waiting, and they are last on my list. Of course, who ever says yes first is winner because I will be happy at any school.

I too received an invite about 2 weeks before I got a letter for SA saying they got my app. I received Baylor's letter that they received my completed app last week and I just received Houston's email today that they received my app ugh... after waiting for forever.

Now.. i just have to wait and see... hopefully I get interviews for Baylor and Houston as well.
 
I got an email interview invite from Houston today! Sept. 10th. Good luck all!
 
Just got my Baylor invite today in the mail for Aug 22! I'm pretty sure I'll see some of you there cause I thought I saw that same date on this site before.
 
I got a Houston interview today too! Sept 10th!!
San Antonio-Aug. 13th!
Waiting on Baylor now.

yeah im waiting on baylor too..i noticed that houston/SA they only care bout your numbers b/c they dont look at your application at all since my application isn't complete yet (no LORs) haha yeah

Does anyone know if they have several rounds of letters or is it if you don't get one now.. you're probably not gonna get one.
 
ppl are going to be receiving interviews through probably february... we just have to wait and be patient...its too early to start worrying

Don't worry. I got a letter in mid Sept for an interview in Oct and was accepted in Dec.

yeah dont worry i know this chick who only got one interview to utH and she got in. I also know two ppl that had all the interviews and got rejected. I think getting an interview especially quickly means that you have much higher numbers as compared to the rest of the class but that doesn't mean you are accepted.
 
Yeah but this is crazy as hell three interviews in three days. Fri-SA, Mon-houston, Tues-baylor. Yeah I hope I'm not one of those smart candidates but the ones you reject becuase they dont fit into your system.

SA-Aug. 20
Houston- Aug. 27
Baylor- Aug. 29

Keep your head up. You know they use the formula so it makes sense that the top of the ladder will interview first. Its very early!!!!

Plenty of time!! I know that SA interviews into January.
 
I know SA uses a formula but what do you think is a competitive score.
 
So is there anything else I can do? Or is it all a waiting game now?
 
What is the significance of SES on the app? Is having one more "favorable" than an other?
 
science GPA x DAT-A Score/30 x 4 + Overall GPA] x 50 = Overall Score (out of a possible 1000)

Just took DAT (not very good. especially RC, I did horrible) and wanted to know how I can report DAT scores to TMDSAS? Or do I just wait till it shows up on the status page?
 
I'm pretty sure it tells you on their site. Anyway, you should have designated Texas DS's to receive your OFFICIAL scores when you applied for the DAT. If you didn't you can sign them up to receive the official scores on the ADA website. It's more important that the Texas schools receive your official scores then for TMDSAS to know.

I think I answered this on this thread already, but I don't mind posting it again.

I called TMDSAS and was told the TX schools you released your scores to will receive your DAT scores and enter them into their own systems, TMDSAS pulls a batch of DAT scores from each school's system each week and then applies it to your application.

I have heard from a friend at Baylor that if you fax a copy of the DAT scores to the schools ahead of the official copy sometimes they post the scores on TMDSAS faster than waiting on the ADA. Just something suggeted to me by a d-2 friend of mine. I have no idea if it would work.
 
do you think it's worth it to retake the DAT if you got the all three tx interviews in three days..it's b/c all these fags are posting their stats with a 26AA im like WTF!!!!!!

I think if you have an interview at all 3 schools already, your probably just fine! It is annoying though, I hear ya!:laugh:
 
Hi, guys, I wanted to know if any of TX schools regard RC important? or do any of them has cut-off?
I have good gpa, 19AA/20TS but my RC is 16 and PAT 17. I just wanted to know if this is going to impact my interview possibility?
any comments are appreciated..thanks
 
i dont think it will as long as you have a decent gpa like 3.5+ u'll get all the tx interviews probably.. i got a 15 PAT and it took the all the tx schools no more than a day to give me an interview..
 
why are you mad, daryoush85? you should be happy that you already received interview invites from all 3 tx d-schools already 😉
 
it's just that it makes me really uncomfortable that you are not a competitive when ppl can post stats that ridiculously high. I know a lot of is bs but it's just annoying.
 
Everyone agrees with you that it sucks that there are so many great canidates, but you are more than half way there with all three interviews lined up. You will do fine in your interviews and this time next year will be in d-school.

Also, just because these people have great stats doesn't mean that they are great canidates. Tons of people with really high scores are never accepted into dental school. That is why they interview everyone, because it takes more than high scores to be a great dentist. Thank God, because I would have hated school if all I did was study 24/7.

The funny thing is that the person with the 4.0 GPA, 24 DAT and had no life except studying 24/7 will be sitting next to me... The 3.5, 18 DAT, who had way too much fun in school... haha! In the end we will both be doctors.
 
Hey guys, I have a question. I am supposed to take my DAT in a week, but I'm in the 14-16 range in topscore and achiever (for chem and ochem). It seems to be primarily the rushing b/c I see the right answers when I review.I've also noticed the chem calc suck up my time in chem and leave me short in ochem. People have said to be in the 18-19 range before taking, so I'm not sure if I should postpone. I've studied for quite a while so I feel pretty ready and I don't want to push it back just out of fear of the test. I feel I need to get my scores in but I've noticed the schools have barely started looking at apps. BTW, I need to do pretty well on the test with my GPA. A 16-17 would probably kill my app this year. Any suggestions?
 
Everything was moving fast about a couple weeks ago as far as getting interviews goes. Now its slowed to a trickle. Maybe it's because freshman orientation is starting up. Who knows. Question though. Do you think it's wise to bug the admissions people with phone calls and emails? Some contact has to be important. But how much is to much? Thanks
 
You don't really need to contact them about anything else until after your interview. After that, if you wanted to go back in sit on classes and clinic and get to talk with students more that would be okay. And I guess any updates you might have to your application, DAT scores, grades, extracurriculars, etc.

It seems that from a lot of schools I'm receiving (in the secondaries) short little notes strongly encouraging students not to call in or question about interviews or application status etc... I would just trust them to contact you if they need anything and try not to do anything that makes you look like a pest. Good luck!

After getting the first letter from SA so early I was expecting to hear from Baylor and Houston by now. I figured since SA had such a high avg GPA last year, and I have an interview there, that Baylor and Houston wouldn't be an issue. Seems like Baylor and Houston sent out one round and then stopped...

Of course, as soon as I post this I will get the invites... haha! I hope at least.

Also, what is everyone wearing to the interviews?

I was thinking the same thing about Houston but have heard nothing. Any word of when the supposed "second round" will begin; Anxiety is rising!!😱
 
Houston doesnt do things in "rounds". I interviewed there last year in january and they said "while most schools fill up all of there spots on december 1st, we leave about 35 spots open for the people who interview later"
