but the hold change to acceptance i thought changed in the 15th. the other holds changed LATER to WL or reject. Atleast, that's what I thought.

The wait list for the VCU School of Medicine class entering in August 2008 will be formulated over the next 10 days. If you do not gain acceptance on March 15 and have not been notified of your application being no longer considered, please monitor your status on the website.
So some people will also get rejected today? Am I reading that right? eeek.
In theory people could get rejected. From what I've read they use a priority score cutoff for the waitlist (which I guess most people get on) and reject the people below it.
And (from reading last year's thread) I guess VCU doesn't tell you your waitlist rank. That sucks a big one and throws a major wrench into my planning for the summer. Maybe I can convince Dr. WC to give me a hint...
So congratulations to those accepted:
At this point you either will get an acceptance, a rejection or a waitlist. You probably will not get a rejection though. I dont know exactly when they are giving out the acceptances, but if you havent heard anything by Monday at 7pm expect to be waitlisted.
By the time they give out the acceptances around March 15th the class is FULL. This means that currently they have about 190 (class size is increasing) acceptances out there where people havent said yay or nay yet. VCU/MCV never has more acceptances out there than seats in the class. This means that every time someone drops an MCV acceptance, someone from the waitlist will be accepted. So while the class is 'full' there will be movement. Because of the way that MCV does it (doesnt over book) there is always more movement on the MCV waitlist than many other schools.
Based on your priority score 2 waitlists will be made: An Instate one and an out of state one. They will be ranked based on priority score w/ UG GPA being the first tie breaker and MCAT being the second.
You are not told where you are on the waitlist and you are not told your priority score. You may ask where you are but they are not going to be able to tell you much until after May 15th. And even then they are tight-lipped (more on this later)
Every time an OOS drops their acceptance another OOS is accepted. Every time an IS goes somewhere else another IS is accepted. There has been speculation over the years whether other demographics are maintained- for instance if an OOS woman drops will they accept an OOS man or woman or will they only accept an OOS woman. I have no idea about this so dont ask.
May 15th is the national date that people with multiple acceptance must give up all acceptances but 1. That means May 15th and the 3 weeks after it, are big days for WL movement. Between March 15th and May 15th there will be almost NO movement.
The IS WL moves much, much, much more slowly than the OOS one.
Contacting Dr WC
If you want to make an apt w/ Dr WC, do it for after May 15th. She will not be able to tell you ANYTHING until then. It is not even worth e-mailing her. I am sure some of you will, but she will be very reluctant to tell you anything of substance. Depending on the year, the WL fluctuates immensely. Some years you will have tons of movement, some you will not have any. She cannot tell you anything of substance, especially not in writing. She will be able to tell you more in person but still, it will be very ambiguous. I was top 5 on the WL and they would barely tell me anything. I get off may 15th, the first day I could.
I hope that helps clear this up. From here on out it is a waiting game.
