Not to be pessimistic, but figured we should go ahead and start this thread since at least 1 person has already gotten a "no" from a school. So please use this thread to post rejection/non-acceptance information, if you would like to do so. Including information about the manner in which the "no" was received would also be helpful. If you don't want to post here but want to PM me, that's fine, too. Please give the school, the date you heard, and how you found out (email, snail mail, etc.)

NOTE (1/27/10): Please remember to tell me whether the program is Clinical, Counseling, School, etc. when reporting rejections. Thanks.

NOTE (2/1/10): Since a lot of people still aren't remembering to tell me what kind of program it is, if you don't specify I will assume clinical.

NOTE (2/9/10): If the rejection notice you give me was after an interview, please let me know. Otherwise I will assume it was a rejection without having been interviewed.

:( Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology.

Epic FAIL.

Rejected from University of Minnesota's School Psych Ph.D program. Letter dated 12/28/09 from program director.

do people want me to make a list out of these, like with the interview thread?

That would be SO helpful as long as it's not too time consuming for you. I haven't gotten any rejections yet but it would be helpful to know when to expect them so I can prepare myself emotionally :scared:

Got my first rejection today... and still no interviews.

This season sure is a kick in the face.

Do you mind sharing where, so I can update the master list?

Already up there- University of Oregon, 1/6, via email. Apparently there were "more than two hundred applicants" for the 8 openings. That's more than double what there were in 2005!

I won't be rooting for University of Oregon in college football next year. I got rejected also, and still not interviews. It feels like a bad omen.

rejected SUNY buffalo via snail mail. lame

Does anyone know when their invites are expected to go out? There will probably be a rejection letter in my mailbox today or tomorrow as well, but I'm just curious.

This might be a stupid question...but how do you know if you actually get rejected?

I know that two of my universities have already sent out their invites, which I obviously did not receive, but I also did not get a rejection. Are they going to send out rejections or do I just assume that that's it?

Thanks.

No they definitely will sent you some sort of reply saying you were not admitted, etc.

It's still early, people are just starting to select for interviews, so they don't want to totally say you're not in until they have everything finalized. You may be on a waitlist and may be considered if other people decline their offer.

Yes, they will jack us around as long as they possibly can. Like a cat playing with it's prey before devouring it.....

Haha, great imagery. Although, I see it more like Willy Wonka's squirrels and the bad nuts... shake briefly, then destroy in fiery inferno. Except about 495/500 of us are bad nuts...

HAHAHAHA! Such a great visual!

so i received an email from Oklahoma State saying that I am not invited to an interview, but i'm being kept in a small second pool of applicants... so a mostly no but small small maybe....

99% may be bad nuts, but 100% of us are just plain nuts : P

12/21 Rejection letter by mail from the University of Indiana Bloomington in Counseling Psychology

This time last year, I had one or two rejections and no invites either. Then about a month or so later they all came flooding in at once. Just be patient :D

In my state Ed.D. can get clinical licensure.

Yes, but not with an ed. psych degree. A very few school psych/counseling programs award EdDs. Those degrees, though, are in school or counseling psych, not ed. psych.

I needed to hear that today, so thanks for posting! :)

I haven't heard anything yet. Maybe I'll get one or two responses this week (hopefully positive responses!)...Getting very antsy!

Rejected from UCSB's CCSP (School Psych - PhD) via email 1/11/10

I got the same thing.

I was rejected from Oklahoma State PhD Clinical Psych program on Dec. 17 via email from the DCT

At last, my first rejection. I will not be a wolverine any time soon: U Michigan Ann Arbor just emailed. It's oddly anti-climactic, but still sucks. I figured my application was least likely to succeed there. One down, nine to go.

Rejection from U Michigan Ann Arbor 1/15/10. I should be bummed, but for some reason am not...maybe it's the Michigan weather...not really my scene:laugh:

Chin up everyone!

Also rejected at U of Michigan Ann Arbor clinical psych... Anyone else hate the "I'm sorry this letter didn't bring happier news"???

But remember, it only takes one school! I think I was rejected considering I grew up 15 minutes from the Ohio State campus :)

LOVE IT. Judging from my tag, you should know why. ;-)

I could recite a whole bunch of U of M jokes to make you guys feel better... haha.

I especially appreciated the statement to the effect that if you're a student there, you're nothing special!!!

bump, and who else is expecting to get a rejection letter reeeeeeal soon?

Got rejected by e-mail - Ph.D. Clinical Psychology Program University of Colorado at Colorado Springs on 1/19/2010 4:25pm

bump, and who else is expecting to get a rejection letter reeeeeeal soon?
Since a lot of my schools are on the "interview invite" list, I'm pretty much assuming I'm going to get rejected at most places. :( But, I'm already taking steps to apply to MA programs and search out RA positions. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best...
