Got the "Your file will be re-evaluated later in the season..." status today. Oh well...

I joined that club as well. Are we right in thinking that it's basically a rejection? Or have people gotten interviews after a status like that? It being so late in the season definitely changes things, but still.

I was also curious about this. I checked last years thread and didn't see anyone citing an interview after this status but who knows 😕

I'll be 12 weeks post interview this Thursday. My nerves are shot and I hope it does not go to 15 or 16 weeks as it has to some of the people on this thread.

Odd question, I know... Does anyone know if the Dean hand-signs the rejection letters, or do they just use a stamp for them?

Just received my acceptance package in the mail today I'm going to be a doctor woooo!!!!!! I interviewed at the beginning of december so there is still hope people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does the hold list (i.e. your application will be re-reviewed at a later date) ever produce an interview?

edit: whoops, people already asked. sorry.

Good luck! :luck: When did you interview?

Interviewed November 11...thats right, im going on 15 weeks now! I never thought I would be that guy 🙁

I called the admissions office and the lady who answered was very nice. She told me the committee is meeting today and hopefully I will be one of the candidates they discuss...HOPEFULLY. She said they are a couple weeks behind schedule....and I thought, more like a couple months...but hey, no one is counting. If i am in the group, then I should have a final decision status up on Monday, if I don't, then i may pull out a small, manageable chunk of hair 🙂

Does anyone happen to know for those that are put on a Hold Pre-Interview when to expect to hear back?

Can anyone tell me what the average waiting time is between getting the "your file is currently under review my a member of the admissions committee...." and a final decision? Thanks!!!

About a week after my interivew my status changed to: "under review by a member of adcom."

Two weeks later status changed to "under review by adcom"

Got "Final Decision" a month after that.

And get my letter in the mail exactly 1 week after final decision status change.

Take into account that it all depends on who interview you - unfortunately, some have had to wait 15-16+ weeks post interview. Personally, it took me about 10-11 weeks post interview to hear a decision (that's including thanksgiving/xmas/new years)

To everyone on pre-interview hold:

I'll be blunt. Don't expect to hear back. You need to take the next step.

Your hold signifies that they're not sure whether or not to extend you an interview invite. So tell then why they should give you a shot. Be proactive: send an update, interest letter, etc.

Persistence is key. The interview season goes on for another few months so there's still hope.

Good luck.

I sent them an update in December and never received confirmation or any acknowledgement. Just tried again...

When does the waitlist start moving?? (before or after May 15th?)

Anyone have stats on approximately how many people get accepted off of the waitlist at drexel??

thanks!

I have been told mixed things (was waitlisted in the fall). When I called in November they told me they start to review waitlist candidates in February. However, I would assume it starts to move more around mid-March when schools can know where AMCAS candidates are accepted. Also I would assume there is more movement around Mid-May when candidates have to pick one school. From last years thread on SDN it also looks like there were a TON of phone calls late July from Kelli Kennedy.
I know this isn't a concrete answer but it's as much info as I could squeeze out of admissions. 🙂

(if any)....

does that mean that drexel doesn't accept ppl off their waitlist typically? i find this hard to believe only because it has SUCH a big class size and is not necessarily viewed by a lot of people as being a top tier school (in my opinion i loved it...just saying stats-wise).

I think they have quite a bot of movement. But it is ranked so there is some order to it.

Here is sample data from the past (class of 2011):

1759 interviewed, 711 were accepted, 280 enrolled.

That means about 400 people total either were accepted off the waitlist or declined their acceptance to Drexel.

400 is a lot, so I assume the waitlist moves a lot.

No, you misunderstood. I said not to expect much, if any, movement until after May 15th. After that point, there will likely be some movement.

I am not sure if you are interpreting that data correctly. I mean out of those 400, 5 could have been waitlist and 395 could have declined their acceptance. I don't think those numbers say anything about how much waitlist movement there was

To all those wondering about the pre-interview hold...

I called the office about that a couple of weeks ago, and the guy who answered was pretty curt...

he said something along the lines of "you won't hear back until March, if at all"

I also told him I got a new letter of recommendation, and if I should email the admissions office to let them know about the update, and he said, no absolutely do not call or email the office, if you application is updated, they will see it...

I guess the only reason to email or send any updates to the office is to send a letter of intent... the hold does not seem very promising 🙁

I don't want to turn into Mr. Downer, but I think you're drawing some false conclusions from that data. Waitlist movement was very slow last year and it was very slow the year before that. Take a look at last year's thread and see for yourselves. The upside is that the waitlist at Drexel tends to move (albeit slowly) into mid-July and possibly beyond.

gotcha...makes sense.
guess i'll be sitting tight and continuing this waiting game...would more update letters help at this point or not really since the waitlist is ranked?

well folks.....17 weeks of waiting to the day and Accepted...will be withdrawing.

that long of a wait was a true turn off of the school.

Interview 1/9, sent to committee member a week later, and committee for review the week after. Playing the waiting game at the moment...

Question is my PI wants to send a recommendation letter for me...is there a person or address I can forward this to? Dean Parish perhaps?

I had someone send a new LOR after my int also and Drexel said the writer can send it in an email to the admissions office. You might as well call to double check.

Drexel was my first interview back in the first week of November. Since then I have been accepted at every med school I interviewed with and am now turning down interview invitations. I received my first acceptance prior to Thanksgiving, so I never felt the need to call Drexel and figure out why it was taking so long.

I have been logging in and checking my status every week to see if I have finally been reviewed by the committee. The day has finally come. No clue if I have been accepted or waitlisted, but for those going crazy after 4 weeks or so of waiting, calm down. The process is the process, nothing more. Schools are interviewing until/ through April and students can hold multiple offers until May 15.

6-8 weeks turned into 4+ months. Maybe when we/ you go to Drexel you can get involved with the selection committee. 🙂

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO! Yeah, baby - Got my acceptance packet yesterday. I am beyond thrilled. Here's my timeline if you're interested:

Interview: 12/7/09
Status change to "Your file is being reviewed by an adcom member...": ~2/12/10
Status change to "A decision has been made and a letter mailed": 2/19/10
Letter received: 2/26/10

Hang in there if you're still waiting. I know it's equivalent to torture, but I tell myself that if nothing else, this process has had the power to significantly improve my patience levels. Good luck!!

do these med schools even look at letters of intent/updated LOR's, i mean are they really going to consider them if your file is already to the committee?

interviewed in dec. 10th and decision has been reached status on march 1st

Update and interest letters are usually most helpful when you've already been "passed over" by the committee. This includes being put on hold pre-interview and being waitlisted post-interview.

It's impossible to give you any solid proof that schools look at these updates, because this information isn't freely available. What I can tell you is that there are a lot of personal accounts here on SDN of applicants being told by committee members that their interest/intent letters gave them the boost necessary to get an acceptance. Will it happen for you? Nobody knows. Does it hurt to try? Absolutely not. Give yourself every chance to succeed in this process. You have nothing to lose.

Dude. What's with the bragging? Please... somewhat lame. This post kind of annoyed me. 🙄

Interviewing here tomorrow! I'm excited to visit the school. I interviewed here for the BA/MD program, but, obviously, was unsuccessful. Hopefullly it will go better this time😀

I interviewed yesterday - good luck! I was actually really impressed with the school. It's a nice area, the school looks really modern and clean, and the students are chill. Good place to be if you can get in. Unfortunately it looks like I have to hunker down for a 3 month wait. But it'll be worth it if I get an offer.

I agree. I love the "I don't know if I've been accepted or waitlisted" - there's one more possible outcome!

Indeed there is! Although apparently the "R" word hasn't come up for this person. Good for him/her. But thanks, I dont need to read about how awesome and sexy you are here on SDN 🙂

Haha, I like the honesty of this post...hope it goes better for you this time around! 🙂 The school seemed really cool on interview day, especially with the new sim center opening...see if your tour guide can show it to you!

Speaking of the sim center...it's awesome. I was in there the other day doing a couple of scenarios with some fellow MS-2's and the dummies are impressive. Some of the simulated physiological functions are more pleasant than others, though. One dummy was in respiratory distress and it was sweating all over the place.

It's a lot of fun.

It's nice to interview in September since it's early, but the sim center had not opened yet when I went for the campus tour. Does anyone know if there are any pictures or anything of the sort? I searched but could not find anything.

It has nothing to do with my school choice, but I want to get excited because 1.) I really liked Drexel more than expected on interview day (no expectations going in) 2.) There's a good chance I'll end up matriculating here and 3.) I'm bored and there's nothing new on textsfromlastnight.com

Thanks!
