In all the neuroticism on SDN, the first time I've been compelled to speak. Coach Kryzyzezwzskzeiz is Americanized for Chauchescu. He breeds young boys to be over confident, mostly arrogant, marginally talented cry-babies. He manages to have a decent record by fondling the refs, the media (I call this the Dickie V two stroke), and anyone who looks like Christian Laetner.

, but 👍 i guess

Dude this argument is lame and overused. Duke is tied with UCLA with most players on NBA rosters in 2009-2010 (http://www.rpiratings.com/NBA.html). This is not a new development, either, they've been either 1st or 2nd for several years running. If your argument is that Coach K doesn't "highlight" the players enough to get them into the NBA, I think you're wrong.

fair enough, but you know i'm going say that his NBA players have been soft and underperforming

i just have a problem with his recruiting - i don't understand why he doesn't take a chance on one or two one and done players. i know he likes the wholesome team game thing, but sometimes individual performance and attention can bring out the best of a group. and having that one player play to prove himself to the NBA could be a huge thing (especially for a spotlighted team like Duke)

are you gonna give up kansas basketball to be a duke fan? c'mon you guys have a strong team and another title run this year. how is that any different from what roy did?

I will never give up KU basketball. RockChalk Jayhawk was one of the first phrases I learned as a child. That said, I do not go to KU, and do like other basketball teams, including my own, even though we are vastly overrated and are in a crappy conference. I have no problem rooting for Duke or any other team (with the exception of any team coached by Calipari or Roy) as long as they aren't playing my Jayhawks.

basketball became pointless after dunking over people/blocking the ball into the stands was more important than free throws

A team vastly overrated and plays in a crappy conference? Butler?

Just kidding. I appreciate the honesty though.

To be fair, he recruited John Wall HARD last year...and almost got him. But ultimately, he made the unfortunate decision to go to UK. Kid's a beast.

And yes, Duke usually has a 2nd look weekend. I don't think they have a weekend nailed down yet (or more likely, we just don't know what it is), but it's usually late March/early April.

Haha, I think someone at Duke admissions is checking this board. Login page now says Second Look Weekend will be April 9-11.

And you're welcome for neurotically checking the login page once again 😛

Well, they tell you about second look via internet but won't give out decisions that way? That's like dangling candy in front of a child then taking it away. Lame. They are sending out letters on Friday right?

No, not Butler. I think we are more overrated than Butler. Not as bad as last year, but in my opinion we should never have broken top ten. When brackets come out I will probably have my school losing out in the second round. Butler will also lose in the second round. And Kansas will win it all. Duke will make second round then lose out I think.

i think their target for beginning to send out decisions is next monday (march 8)

Who else thinks that letters might be sent on Friday so that they arrive on Monday? Anybody have the courage to call and ask....anonymously?

Good luck peeps :luck::xf::luck:

from last year's thread - duke had a target date of sending out decisions on march 6, but they didn't send them out til march 12/13, with emails going out later than anticipated because they crashed their servers trying to send out so many waitlists/rejections at once

Wall on Duke uniform would have been crazy. Apparently Roy and UNC wouldn't make an offer to him. Evan Turner might be performing at a higher level right now though.

Duke@Maryland should be great tonight considering Maryland's strength at home and Duke's woes on the road.

Yeah, they definitely had crazy issues last year....but that doesn't mean it will occur the same way this year 🙂xf::xf::xf:). I am curious if letters will be sent Friday and arrive Monday if all goes as planned.

Probably...not....but we should confirm 🙄

I will being leaving this country on Thuesday night. It will be nice if I can have the letter on Monday 🙂 (If I ever got the chance to have that)

Is anyone else concerned that Duke's loss tonight might mean bad things for our applications? What if all the adcoms are in a bad mood because the team lost....Oh no....

Bad mood or not, they still gonna fill their class with students...Plus, I think they have made their decision way ago already.

great game + made some money off that. despite the ACC being somewhat sub-par this year, they will have an interesting tourney. you duke kids need to be tough on your team at home to prep them for the road! duke played hard tonight though

You're right, I am guessing that is why their website tells us to update our email accounts BY March 3rd (yesterday).. So everything is set in stone now and its just time for the gears to start turning and spitting out invites 👍

I am SO excited, literally restless now..I hope to see a lot of acceptances on this thread :O) Hope I get a heffer' sized packet in the good ol' mailbox 🙂 :xf:

Even over the internet....the silence is palpable.

(morning pooner)

Just wanted to wish all of you good luck one last time in this these last few trying days. :luck:

😀 Thanks--gonna enjoy Saturday's game and hopefully everyone will be safe DT. praying no cars will be flipped lol

I'm guessing they mailed acceptances today in anticipation of losing to UNC tomorrow night. Otherwise the office would be so depressed they couldn't come to work after losing for the fifth time in a row on Coach Kay court.

On SDN we like facts not guesses 😎

I feel compelled to make the comment that Coach Kay is Kay Yow, 23-year breast cancer survivor and advocate, former head coach of the lady Wolfpack for 34 years and coach of the 1988 Womens Olympic team, and ESPY Award winner (and oftentimes sponsor of my AAU team back in the day). Coach K is Mike Krzyzewski, West Point Graduate, 29-year head coach of Duke Basketball, and Jimmy V tennis tournament participant.

In 2002, Reynolds Coliseum's basketball court was rededicated as "Kay Yow Court" or "Coach Kay Court" (where the womens' bball team at State plays). Duke plays at Cameron Indoor Stadium, named for Eddie Cameron, the Duke coach in the 20s-30s. After Coach K's 500th win in 2000, the hardwood was renamed as "Coach K" court (I remember watching that game on WRAL as a freshman in hs).

I remember when Duke named the floor at Cameron Coach Kay court in 2000. In 2009, after losing 4 straight to UNC at home, they renamed everything: it's now the Hansborough Hardwood at Danny Green Memorial Garden.

Hey now, I said nothing about UNC, nor did I say anything about having a particular preference for any school's athletic program -- I was just referencing the fact that you're mixing up coaches. Or you can't spell. Either way:

Coach K Court.

Okay so away from all the basketball talk and more on subject...

Does anyone know if they send out the rejection/waitlist emails before or after they send out the acceptance letters? Basically, when should I expect my email?

or neither.

OMG!!! Chauchescu will not be happy they took the "a "and the "y" off of his court and just left the K! Coach Kay might fall over with back spasms and have all losses for the season expunged from his record....again!?!?

Call Greg Paulus to save the day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCglZ4KFPWg&NR=1&feature=fvwp

Or he's making fun of him by spelling his name in a way that's traditionally done for women...

winner winner chicken dinner.
I love Duke-UNC days.
Are you a Tarheel? I love Chapel Hill. When I was a junior in high school, I went on a tour of the school the day after they had won to get into the Final Four. Despite some guy driving a car into the square earlier in the month, campus was crazy. Then my senior year, students admitted to the honors program were invited to a banquet to further check out the school. This was during the Duke lacrosse scandal, and the passion UNC students showed in hating Duke was great to see. Unfortunately UNC was just way too expensive when compared to my state school, but it's always held a special place in my heart.

Oh, and Franklin Street = awesome.

On a side note, this person is reporting a non-MD/PhD acceptance on MDApps. Interesting.

I hate to say this because it might sound like I am a jelly-b!tch but all the schools that this person supposedly applied to are way up there...maybe a fake meant to freak the hell out of us? No SND handle either?

oops! nevermind. misread that. that's interesting, but i wouldn't make too much of it. probs a fluke.

I agree. In any case, why someone would put up a profile with no information about their qualifications is beyond me.

Anyway people, good luck on Monday.

Acceptance letter to MD program received today via USPS in Raleigh, NC (30 miles east of Durham). Postmarked March 5th (yesterday). If you're in the triangle, CHECK YOUR MAILBOX!!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!

You just blew everyone's noodle on SDN and confirmed my theory that Duke is worried they will lose to UNC tonight.
Congrats!
