Last year, some brave souls got ballsy and called the office to find out when exactly the emails would be sent out...just sayin'...😛
 
Just wanted to post this before e-mails get sent out later today - USPS priority mail normally arrives in 1-3 business days. Today is technically the second, and tomorrow would be the third. Here's good luck to you guys and hope to see you here next year!!!!
 
I'm content being spineless...

though seriously -- for those of y'all who can avoid SDN/computers for the next few hours, it might be worth it to, you know, go outside? A little vitamin D and exercise never hurt anyone.

For those of us in prison...erm...the workforce, well we'll keep checking the boards for ya 😉

and just to help people cope with not getting accepted or even waitlisted, remember that the god of the game (jay-z reference), Shesmarty, couldnt avoid the dreaded rejection
 
So, just came back from dinner and a drink in the pub with my roommate. Said I wasn't going to think about this, then spent the entire time talking about this.

I am lame. That is all.
 
I had a friend call. The lady told him some decisions were sent Friday. Some will be sent at different times today and everyone will hear by Friday the 12th.

Ugggghh. Just totally got the brush off from the admissions office. All they told me was same crap we already knew that acceptances are snail mailed and rejections/waitlists emailed, and they didn't know when they would be going out. I was in a rush to get off the phone tho as I'm literally in the process of moving my lab and had to get back to actual work. If someone else with a little more charm wants to try....919.684.2985. She did say not all acceptances have gone out...so there's still hope even if u haven't gotten an envelope yet....grrr, no closure at all 🙁

on the one hand, i wish they would get it over with. on the other hand the hopeful part of me wants to see if anything good comes in the mail before i am surprised by a sad email.
 
OMFG this is so annoying. I KNOW the mail is most likely in my mailbox at home right now. but im outta town, and no one can check it for me for another hour...

Yeah, I should have clarified. MSTP decisions go out a little earlier, but I just wanted to provide some information about the Duke Med acceptance. It's the same for all of us. I wasn't trying to rub it in or anything, I just wanted to let people know that those in the Northeast should be on the lookout for an envelope today.

haha, i'm not going to lie, that's totally what i thought. i was like- damn, i wish i was so good that i KNEW my acceptance envelope was just waiting for me in my mailbox 😉

lol of course not! it's a crapshoot. btw i went to Duke undergrad too! 🙂
 
Out here on the west coast, my mail came and went with no letter from Duke. Which still tells me....almost nothing. Grrrr. I know my filed has been reviewed already, just send the decision, pretty please?

boo, im in TX, so I have no idea if anyone will get anything here today or not... no one has been accepted here yet, right?

well, i dont know how much it helps your chances past the interview stage, but they did seem to let on that it does help. I just know if you turn in your app early, you are basically guaranteed an interview for one of the spots out of 750 if you went to Duke. dean armstrong my senior year did say they are more familiar with Duke students, and tend to accept more of them. like that year they accepted 40 (including waitlist) out of 240 or so total applicants (so overall 15% or so acc rate?) as opposed to 175 out of the other 4700 or so applicants from other schools (3-4% acc rapte?). but then again, only half of those 4700 usually submit the secondary, and id assume almost all dukies submit it. and they prolly interview 180-200 or so dukies out of 750. and they accepted 40 or so, including waitlist. so it seems like chances are the same after interview. but i have no clue how many dukies they interview. the second year i stayed with said his class is 25 out of 100 former duke students. sorry for the longgg answer. so basically, maybe, but dunno how much. this so isnt the case at other schools where they dont favor their undergrads, i guess we're lucky! but you still need to earn it!

yeah and it doesnt seem like anyone who interviewed in January and after got one, so maybe those are the ones sent later? who knows
 
i feel like they could very well be waiting until the end of the day to send out the emails so that the office is closed when they get bombarded by phone calls

yes, can accepted people please let us know what their interview dates were? i was on 01/22 and didn't get anything yet...fearing the worst.

lol maybe, also they might just send em all on Friday, the day they said everyone would find out, cuz last year they sent it all on the same day (no acceptances were received really the day after the emails were sent) but of course, who knows!
