2009-2010 Grad School Interview Invite Thread!

FYI guys: I spoke with some admin for clinical psych at Vanderbilt today (and then subsequently my POI). It sounds like all interview invites for round one have most likely gone out by now. Apparently competition was extra steep and they had a record number of apps this year. There might be a chance of some sort of second round though, so who knows!

I'm feeling that way right now. Applied right out of undergrad and I've heard nothing.
 
Feinberg was waiting until January 18 for GRE scores so it may be a while until we hear from them.
 
I applied straight from my undergrad too, and I've heard from two schools about interviews (both in Ontario, Canada). Don't lose hope! 🙂

Hey futurepsycapp, BU isn't listed under the "New as of 1/25:" section at the top of the list on page 1. I know it's the end of the day already, so I'm not sure how helpful it'll be, but some people might not see it otherwise.

OMG really? B/c it doesn't seem like a lot of people got emails (a lot of people applied on this forum, there should be more dates listed?!!) 😱

Waiting is sooooo boring, I dont know what to do with myself. I've picked up 2 extra work shifts this week.

Would anyone mind PMing me a sample email they have sent to a school requesting information on their application status? I want to email a couple of schools but I'm not sure what's the most appropriate way to ask and I don't want to sound like an idiot Thanks!
 
Yes, I would also love to know who received the University of Illinois-Chicago invite!! If you wouldn't mind - PM me and I can tell you who my POI is and you can say yes or no? Thank you!!

Two interviews on the same weekend, opposite sides of the country...

One is one of my dream schools and I have no connection there. The other one I've already confirmed (booked flight, got host's name, contacted by POI) since I received the invite a couple weeks ago and I have a connection there (through supervisors). The former says it will allow phone interviews but I think I'm basically writing myself off that way. Does anyone know if schools allow you to do an in-person visit another day?? I'll somehow scrounge together the money and fly over. I never expected to get the interview (and believe me, I'm so thankful), but at the same time, it's killing me.

Should I have asked about dates beforehand and not committed to schools too soon? I feel like I went about this all wrong! Any advice appreciated. Thanks, guys.

I would try calling both schools and asking to see if you can reschedule.

For those of you applying to the Joint program at UCSD/SDSU, anyone else applying for the Clinical Neuropsych track specifically?

Detroit = wonderful, classy, cultural city - which I love and adore

Ann Arbor is a good city too - but Detroit has it's own unique and wonderful identity. For those too intimidated by the reputation portrayed by the media to check it out and explore....you're missing out!

they take about 15 students every year (5 in the child track, 5 in health, and 5 in neuro), hence the 50 interviewees.
 
Person who received invite from Suffolk who was your poi? Whoever contacted Suffolk and was told invites would go out later did they say when?

I called them (I was getting too ansy). The education coordinator basically said "Profs started contacting students a week and a half ago, so if you haven't heard by now it is likely you won't." My POI confirmed that she'd already done invites but said they'd had a ton of apps this year/competition was steeper. She said there might be more invites later after this round though (i.e. you never know). So not definitive...but not the best news (*sigh...Vandy you were so perfect for me)

Um well the first mass invite (the "incorrect one") went out at 11:29am on Jan. 22nd. The corrected version arrive that same day at 4:54pm. They had to correct a link in the e-mail so apparently sent out a 'recall' on the original one - I guess people freaked out, so they sent out another e-mail saying they were just correcting the info. but that those people did have the interview. I'm guessing whoever called also got information that they hadn't included everyone they should have on the invite. Anyway - as I said, later that day the official one arrived. As to whether they meant they are sending out *other* invites on top of that last one... I don't know.

If they don't want you, they're not perfect for you, so you don't want them! These things usually happen for a reason. Maybe you would have been miserable there, or maybe you are meant to be happier at another program. Think positive people!
 
Really hope that UFlorida sends out another round of invites or at least the neuro invites have not gone out yet...

This sucks.
 
I spoke with the admissions coordinator at Akron this morning who told me that the department is reviewing applications this week. She said that invitations for phone interviews will go out next week and from there in-person interview invites. Good Luck Applicants!!
 
Could the person who got an invite to LSU's school psych program please send me their POI if you do not mind? I would greatly appreciate it!
 
Would the people who rec'd interviews from LSU (Clinical PhD) mind PMing me their POI? I could always tell you mine first. Thanks and congrats to everyone!
 
I know it says that people have received invites from the ohio University clinical-health track, but has anyone gotten an invite for the clinical-child track yet?

I am honestly going nuts over hear waiting for this invite. If anyone hears something please let me know asap so I can start the grieving process 🙁

Invite from University of Maine this morning! I got a call from my POI, and the interview date is 2/22. Hooray! :O)

Interview invitation from Utah yesterday (after several phone interviews - don't know what that means, but they were being very thorough) and Vermont last Thursday.

Could anyone who's talked to folks at either Texas (Austin) or Harvard PM me? I'm very curious about what's going on but can't seem to track down any solid information. Thanks in advance!

There might be a third! UVM typically interviews 3 candidates for each POI. And, I will see you there too (but I know through the pipeline that we do not have the same POI).

And isn't it amazing that of the tiny handful of people interviewing at Vermont, so many would be actively posting here? What are the odds?
