haha, I think I met you, thankfully I did, or I would have had to wait another 2 hours.
Major congrats on all your successes!😀
Did you receive the notice by e-mail or by mail?

I totally remember you! 😛 Thanks for the congrats! You're interviewing at some nice schools; im sure you'll get good news from them soon.
I heard from Stony Brook via mail. UPS, no email. Your decision might be on the way. Good luck!
Haha, your app puts mine to shame. 😳 Hopefully you're right.
You'll no doubt have some very hard decisions to make. 🙂
How quick is the turn around? I interviewed on 10/30. They said about 6 weeks is the time frame but I really hope they don't wait the full six weeks!
My interview is about a week from now, but I haven't received the email containing the itinerary. Is this normal?
I received my itinerary email EXACTLY one week prior to my interview.
Thank you so much Zona!
I'm about 2.5 hours away, so technically I could just drive in the morning of the interview, but I don't want to take any chances. I'm pretty sure that when I really really need to make the right exits, I'll end up making the wrong ones. Always happens.
Just out of curiosity though, if you guys were about 2.5 hours away and needed to show by 11:15 AM, would you drive in the same morning, or would you arrive the day before?
At last, an interview! Complete September 16, so far as I can tell.
Congrats! 👍 email?

Interviewing next week, the 19th. It's kinda nice that we don't have to be there until 9:45.
Anyone who interviewed on or after October 20th hear back yet?
So I hear that Stony Brook is not very friendly to OOS applicants... And I know this question is pretty subjective, but maybe some of yall who are more familiar with the school than me would know - do yall think an OOS has any reason to pay the app fees with an MCAT under 30 (and everything else being pretty good)?
For anyone else accepted, I really need your help:
I received acceptance letter today and it asks for "letter stating intention to enroll at Stony Brook University School of Medicine" along with deposit in order to secure place. There is no standard reply form.
First, did everyone else receive this letter?
Also, do they really expect a letter of intent so early? I thought AMCAS rule was that we could hold multiple acceptances until May 15.
Hey congrats to all u interviewed and are accepted!! I have my interview on 24th nov. can anybody post feedback about their recent interview expercience!! Thankss🙂Hey, congrats! I was accepted today too. Very exciting. So, no worries, the "letter of intention to enroll" is just a letter to hold your spot. A medical school can't force you to attend, and it's absolutely fine to hold multiple spots pre-May 15 (May 1 for some). Call them if it would make you feel more at ease, but just send them a letter saying that you'd like them to hold the spot for you, along with the other documents that they ask for.
Congratulations again. 🙂

When did you interview? Thanks!
Interviewed: 10/20. Accepted: 11/16How soon have people been getting notified for acceptance?
OOS - MCAT 34, non-trad, second cycle (1st for SB)So I hear that Stony Brook is not very friendly to OOS applicants... ?
I suppose it depends on the implications of the word "discriminate." A huge percentage of their students are from Long Island, another large chunk from New York state at large. I am sure, like all state schools, they have a target number of OOS students to pad the budget (can get in state tuition after 1 year if I remember correctly), but they need to be a large majority in-state to get their money from the government.I was told by someone on the adcom that they absolutely do not discriminate based on residency.
If we recently submitted the secondary, how long is the turnaround time for an interview?

Wow congrats everyone!
10/30...still waiting...

i'm assuming they're accepting the allstars first and then hopefully we get in later on. here's to hoping.![]()
Or maybe our interviewers did not attend the most recent committee meeting because they were busy?
Or maybe they hate us.
I would frankly be slightly ****ed if I was flat out rejected here because I loved the school and had extremely positive interviews. If "That was a masterful interview! You would be a perfect fit for our school" is followed by a small rejection envelope in the mail anytime soon, I'll probably enter a lifelong depression, break up with my girlfriend, and live in a dirty house with multiple cats for the rest of my life.
CYA!

Hopefully we both make it out alive 👍
wow, I definitely should not have checked here...and now I have the jitters. I was interviewed 9/22 and still haven't heard anything. However, this is what my interviewer told me: "Post interview it's a coin flip. You basically have a 50/50 chance. 20% are immediately accepted, 20% are immediately rejected, and the remaining 60% are waitlisted. About half of those on the wait list eventually get in."
