oy, now i'm nervous. i live like 20 blocks from downstate so maybe it'll take like a week for me to get my letter 🙄

just to be clear... no one here has gotten a "complete" email, right? all my stuff is checked off on the status page but i just want to know if i should be waiting for an email.

Sorry I don't know if this is a dumb question or not. But at the status page, what password and username did you guys use? I don't know if it's the fact I've applied to so many schools, but I can't figure out what the name and pw are or at what point we set them up?

Is there any point to keep checking the site where it lists what they've received if they've gotten everything? It doesn't really seem like they're going to put a status up there but maybe I'm wrong?

Relax, interview invites are sent thru email.
 
Does Downstate pre-screen? I still haven't received an e-mail about the secondary or that they even received my primary application.

Where can I check my application status? Can someone post the link? I can't find it on the website 🙁 Thanks!
 
Does anyone have a "fall grade received" category on their downstate checklist. I haven't had one till just now when I checked.. I am assuming thats bad news for me 😕
 
doxy, it sounds like you have bad grades and they want to see your fall grades before making a decision

But fall grades don't come till December right? They are going to wait that long before sending our interview invites?
 
if your gpa is 3.8, then i don't know. maybe it's a mistake.
i don't have the fall grades thing on my checklist either.
 
I know that Downstate's mail takes a while to get to my house. When I got the complete letter in the mail it was postmarked almost a week after the letter was dated. After looking at previous years it seems like I will be getting a letter indicating my status of "hold" probably sometime this week. I wonder if anyone else has this on their checklist and can chime in with their stats ?

edit: nevermind idk im reading the previous years more and ppl received interview invites and still had to send in fall grades.. idk what to think now hmm

Does Downstate need paper copies of Committee Letters, or do they accept letters through AMCAS?
 
Question-for the secondary application, I can attach an additional sheet for my prerequisite lab courses since there isn't any room for that on the application itself, right (just making sure since the instructions for attaching an additional sheet pertain to quarter semesters)? Thanks.

Are any new yorkers completing question 12 on the secondary application-If you have a specific reason (e.g., significant other, job transfer, family obligations) why you wish to attend medical school in New York City, please explain? Most of the questions sound like questions for OOS applicants...most NY residents usually end up completing the "why downstate" question only, right? Unless I'm wrong.

Finally got the snail mail telling me that I was complete and that they've started screening applications.

me too. just as i thought: i live about 30 blocks from downstate and it took me a week to get the letter :laugh:
 
There's no limit on the length of our essays, right?

Use your Amcas ID for both the username and password
 
So I'm a little bit annoyed at them right now. For some reason they sent a letter saying I need to provide more information (information that is already on my AMCAS application). I'm not sure why they're doing this, but now my rush to submit my application back in early July is basically worthless.

What information? I received a letter too but it only says to send my fall grades when they are available... thankfully the "hold" checkbox wasn't checked :xf::xf::xf:
 
Thank GOD I'm not the only one with this "checklist". I just got it today and it also has fall grades checked (I have a 3.7). No holds but it does say in the "other" box that I need to describe my community service activities in college. Uhh, did they not look at AMCAS?

So no hold = good? I was afraid I would have to send my damn grades in before I get an interview.

Also for the special reasons for NYC, I live in westchester so I just said that I'll be able to get family support blah blah and how it's just close to home.
 
yeah...they sent me the checklist too and asked why I had received an incomplete...even though it was resolved...I think a lot of ppl are getting these letters!
 
The 'hold' box wasn't checked on mine so I guess I'm not annoyed. But now I'm scared that they're not happy with my near total lack of extracurriculars (since that's what they asked about).
 
I'm on hold. Bummer. They want me to me explain the 3 year gap between high school and college.😕
