I was told that I should expect at max 42K/year and I can supplement with GRAD plus loans, which you apply for right on the american education services website. If this is what the fin aid packages are looking like I guess I will be withdrawing soon.

As I understand it, the GradPLUS loans are guaranteed to supplement your federal aid up to the cost of tuition. Then, if you included your parents' financial info on your FAFSA, you're eligible for university-based aid, and you can speak with a counselor in their financial aid office to get more information about pursuing that. If you didn't include your parents' financial info on your FAFSA and/or if you did but the university-based aid isn't sufficient, you need to go out and secure third-party loans (Educaid, for example) to cover the difference.

Isn't tomorrow (April 16) the last admissions committee meeting for the season?! This is exciting :xf: Are a lot of people waiting to hear back?
 
So i got my acceptance packet in the mail yesterday!!!! I interviewed March 23rd. I probably had a status update a day or so before I got my packet but I wasn't expecting to hear anything for at least another week, maybe the adcom met early?!

Hey Congrats!!!👍 I interviewed on March 23rd also!..yea I did'nt think they were meeting until today? oh well cool nonetheless haha..were you an instate or OOS interviewee?

Hey! that's funny you interviewed on the same day, you might not remember me but i think I was the only guy there with red hair. anyhoo, I'm an OOS applicant currently living in DC but from WA state originally.
 
Just called the admissions office. Was told the committee couldn't (for some reason) meet on April 16th... more delay/waiting??? 🙁

Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!! This is such a buzz kill! I though there April 16th meet date was definite...such a bummer🙁...Did they happen to say when they would meet next?

Sorry I couldn't find out when they would next meet. The lady was in such a hurry to get off the phone. She only said, we'll find out "shortly". It'd be awesome if someone else could give calling them a shot as well!
 
How many of you have gotten the financial package and how many are still waiting?

Did y'all receive your pin yet? If not, you might have had the same problem that I did. The home page of the site that updated your status talks about receiving a pin sometime later on so you can access material from Temple. I was accepted back in November and still had not received a PIN while hearing rumors already had. So I called admissions. They transferred me to the main campus computer tech people (215-204-8000). I gave them my name, d.o.b. and temple ID. Sitting at my computer while on the phone, they helped me set up my temple email and log in information. I logged into my temple mail and found email from Temple as of January 22, which included a financial aid award letter dated March 22nd. The award letter stated that I had 21 days to make alterations online.....

This was done yesterday.

Annoying? Yes.

Based on some of the posts on this forum, I assume I am not the only one that never received a PIN and has been waiting for financial aid.

I didn't go to the second look weekend, since I can't afford Temple unless I receive better aid that expected.
 
Just withdrew!! I hope one of you SNDers get my spot!!

I received the pin in the mail months ago, have an access net user name, and have logged onto my TU Mail every day, but all I get is "TU Today" mail.

I'm planning on doing both email and letter for all schools I plan on withdrawing from. Some schools said you can call and tell them over the phone.
 
I wthdrew from Temple via the general email address. Quick turn-around... heard back a day or two later and within a few days got my deposit back. Helped pay my credit card bill this month so I was happy 🙂

I was wondering if anyone has had success changing their 3rd/4th year clinical site. I want to change into Temple if I can. When I called the admissions office, they told me to write a letter to the dean. Is it uncommon for students to switch around?

it's actually quite common. i requested my changed to temple around december and the dean informed me that i'm on the waitlist and wont know until orientation. definitely write a letter indicating the change request.
 
They made edits to my FAFSA. I guess thats a good sign right.

When do you think we'll hear back from TUSM? Is the committee meeting today? ....waiting....:xf:
 
umm so I checked my owlnet and it said that they send out my award letter on 4/20, check my TUmail and didn't get it yet, but then it said that the letter cannot be changed due to another updated letter being send out. Wth? Oh and ya the amount they are giving me isn't even enough to cover OOS tutition

The initial letter won't include Grad PLUS. After you finalize your budget you would apply for that and get an updated award letter. That's how Temple does it.
 
Has anyone heard when the last committee meeting will be? I tried to find out but I think the person on the phone misunderstood my question.
 
Does anyone think there is any chance left of getting a merit or need-based scholarship/grant before May 15th. If not, I probably will withdraw soon.

It was scheduled for April 16, but I think it got postponed to April 23. Either way, it has been DONE.
 
Just confirming if this is correct: only 1 SDN poster has been accepted off the wait list thus far and it was very early on (a month ago or so). Anyone know of others accepted off the wait list yet? Just sort of surprising to only see 1 person defy the odds.
 
just withdrew my acceptance...ugh, 2nd look was a lot of fun and everyone there was really cool, so this was not an easy decision. best of luck to those on the waitlist, i hope one of you gets my spot soon

I think I will be withdrawng soon too. Good luck to everyone. Its too bad there's so little financial aid because even a small amount of money would have allowed me to go to Temple.
 
Does anyone know where I get my fin. aid. award? I log into tumail- nothing. I log into owlet and it says award letter sent..... sent to where?

did you try the financial aid tab? if there's stafford loan information there, then that's the award. there's also an award letter option on the left panel. it took a few days for my award letter to show up (it was basically the loan information).
 
people who have declined their acceptance offer via email----did you also get your deposit money back? the original email they sent us said to notify them "in writing" if we wish to get our money back, but can we just email them instead, and still get our money back?

email is fine. i withdrew via email and got my deposit back the next day
 
I know someon asked about this before, but I still had a question (I've been calling the financial aid office, but no response!). My financial aid award consists of federal subsidized and federal unsubsidized and it doesn't cover all. Where do I apply to get the rest of the money? I know during 2nd week they said we' d have to apply through the federal gvt. website or something. Where is that and am I guaranteed to get the rest of the loans to cover for the next 4 years?

Yes. You would apply for the Grad PLUS for the rest of what you need. With the recent bill, that can now be done only through the Federal government. I don't know the website but it shouldn't be hard to find.
 
Based on last year's thread there were 3 waves that got in from the waitlist. May 1-15, May 16-31, and it all wrapped up by June 15 or so.........
