I am not sure if anyone has done this previously in this thread, but would those of you who interviewed be so kind to share some of the questions asked of you at the interviews?

Check out the interview feedback at the top of the page. Select Allopathic Schools and find Tulane. That'll give you a good overview of what to expect.

It was pretty laid back and conversational. Mainly Why Tulane? What ECs and volunteer work? What do you do in your spare time? and your experience with New Orleans.

Perhaps you could try calling tomorrow morning?

Hmm. Just tried calling their office, got a voice message saying that status checks aren't available. It gave a bunch of options for people to be transferred to, but none of them sounded like someone who would have any answers. Any ideas as to who I should contact to make sure I'm complete?

i also sent them an email asking if i was complete (on the 10th) and i just got a reply today saying that i was. not the automated one but an actual response from a person (i think.)

. . . on a Sunday. weird

i got this same message. it was one sentence: "your application is complete."

submitted... 8/5.

Ahaha I love all the rejection enthusiasm in here 😛

Press the button that will get you to speak with admissions and student affairs (0, I think... or you can wait on the line and eventually it'll start ringing). Sweet talk to Susanna Vargas and she will tell you everything you want to know.

BTW, class size is increasing this year to 200 (from the usual 175ish).

EDP Acceptance!!!!! After 50 or so some rejections and my third time applying...this is so sweet!!!! G'luck to all the regular decisions in a couple weeks. I guess we need a facebook group now...

wsup guys - i just got to my hotel in new orleans and im a bit confused. is the office of student admissions and affairs on robertson st or tulane ave?

It's on S. Robertson. It's the really tall, corporate looking building with the dark gray-ish reflective windows.

Hey good luck on the interview! It is really laid back and very conversational. They start out pretty much with...tell me about yourself. They will definitely ask you: 1) Why Tulane? 2) Why New Orleans?

Read about it a bit more in interview feedback...but just relax. Everybody's really nice.

Climber,
What do you think of the increase in class size? Benefits or weakens quality? Are there enough clinical sites to accommodate? MCLNO hospital's planned to open in 2013, right?

Congratulations on those acceptances everyone! Way to go!

should i call tulane and press 0 for the office? its been five weeks since they received my secondary (possibly six by now) and i havent received a complete message from them. i dont want them to think me neurotic if i harass them after hearing the message that says no status checks.

I don't know when MCLNO will open. Veteran's Affairs is opening a huge hospital that should be complete by 2014. All major cases in the Gulf Coast will be sent there (which is sweet).

I think Tulane handles its large class sizes very well. Although my class IS big, I haven't noticed it much. For anatomy lab, we have 5-6 people per cadaver. BTW, they are going to build another anatomy lab for next year to accommodate the extra 25 students.

As for clinical sites, I can't tell you much because I haven't started my rotations yet. However, New Orleans has one of the highest per capita ratio of hospital beds in the country (even after Katrina). In addition, Tulane is starting a unique "health leadership" curriculum where students will have the opportunity to do their rotations in Baton Rouge (the capital) rather than New Orleans. The core rotations will be the same, but there will be some electives that focus on health leadership (i.e. doing a "rotation" with the governor's office, etc.). Starting within the next two years, students have to specify which program they want to do when they apply. The pre-clinical years will be the same, but starting 3rd year you will do your rotations in either Nawlins or Baton Rouge. You guys will be able to join this program as well, but you shouldn't worry about it until orientation. Again, I'd like to stress that for the time being this is optional, but in the near future you will have to specify which program you would like to do.

I too didn't receive a complete notification. And I wasn't able to check the status page.

Either way I received an interview

Perhaps you could try calling tomorrow morning?

Is there a status check page?

Weird, i sent them an email regarding a status update, they responded about 2 weeks later saying i was complete (this was about 2 weeks ago), and now today i got another email from them saying my application is complete and has started to go through the review process... anyone else get this email today?

Just interviewed today. This school is AMAZING. They have some very resourceful tools for the students and their faculty and student population is very friendly and approachable. I loved it.

Congrats - I checked out French Quarter and walked down along the Mississippi the day before my interview. There was somebody playing this jazzy tune using this contraption that was attached to a steam boat. Anyways the walk was pretty relaxing and I had something to tell my interviewer the next day when he asked what I had done in New Orleans so far. 😀

Good luck!

Rejected. I am oh.so.sad.

Good luck to the rest of you guys!

Well, we can always visit and bunk with our wonderful SDN buddies!
