Invite for 11/14. Do they only interview on Saturday? I will call tomorrow and hopefully can reschedule for the week I am in Kentucky.

Anyone familiar with their Rural Physician Leadership program?

I actually just learned it existed a week ago, trying to figure out how to apply. If anyone knows anything, please share. Thanks

Got interview invite for 11/14. Trying to reschedule but we'll see. This is a great school. So exited.

so how have the interviews been? I'm interviewing here in a little over a week

I interviewed UK this weekend, and I was very happy with the whole thing.
The facilities are new and nice, better than UofLs as far as I have seen. First, they gave a little presentation on the school, then you have two ~45 minute interviews, lunch, and finally tours by current students. The interviews were not very intense and rather enjoyable. The experience kind of made me lean towards UK.

Btw, I'm IS, 3.3, 36

Let me know if there is anything else you wanna know.

Pitmationmom: Besides the obvious questions like "why medicine?", "why UK?", did you have any tough ethical questions? One of my interviews so far at another school had several tough ethical/hypothetical situations. Just want to be prepared for other important questions! thanks.😀

Interestingly, during my interview there were no ethical questions, and no questions about healthcare reform, two things I was expecting to have to deal with. They really just wanted to know about me and what made me unique. I would have to agree with pitmationmom in that it was enjoyable!

they did not explicitly ask about healthcare reform or ethical dilemmas. however, while answering the general questions about me i brought up some of my causes that kind of solicited tougher follow-up questions.
they did not randomly bring up those topics or ask hypotheticals.

As for the interviews, they are done on Saturdays and Tuesdays. Then, the admissions committee meets on Thursdays to make their decisions.

In my interviews, everything was fairly laid back. The only two questions asked that I really expected were the typical - Why UK? and Why medicine? One of my interviewers just had me tell him about myself and my family, and then he would ask me to expand on certain topics. It was great. The other interviewer asked more questions pertaining to ethical situations like how competitive I would be with my classmates and such. None of the questions were to intense. Like some of the previous responses, I didn't have any healthcare reform questions, which is what I was most worried about. I hope that helps.

So my file was complete mid-September. I called them about three weeks ago to verify something online. When I talked to the lady she said that they were currently reviewing early September applications, and that they should be getting to mine soon. I haven't heard a peep since. Would it be worth it to call? I hate to be annoying but I really want an interview at UK, and I know that the earlier the better (especially here).

I was complete about the same time and my status changed to "Interview to be scheduled" just today. So they will likely get to your file very soon.

People who are scheduling interviews now, when are they? I hope I'm not going to be interviewing for a wait list spot... Should I call to schedule ASAP or wait for an email?

My interview is on 11/14. I called in several times to check if there were any earlier spots that became available... but it seems like all the interview slots prior to 11/14 are pretty much taken. 🙁

What's the best way to get to Lexington? The flights I've searched have 1 to 3 mid-stops each... and >$400 for a single trip! 😕

11/14 isn't bad. I'll be OK with anything before January. I just called yesterday, the receptionist was very nice, she said that they were looking at apps that were finished about two days before mine. Apparently I should know by next week about an interview.

Where are coming from? Lexington flies direct to only a few places. It may be cheaper to fly into Louisville and rent a car. Just a thought.

So I interviewed this weekend, and I really really liked UK a lot. The teaching facilities are really nice, the 8-12 class day is awesome, the curriculum is innovative. The only downside that I saw to the school was all the construction, but that wasn't bad at all! I'm really impressed with it. Now I just have to hope they'll give me some OOS love! :xf:😀

The interviews were great as well. Easily the most relaxed and laid back interviews I've had, and that is greatly appreciated.

I interviewed here last tuesday and Kentucky is now my number 1 choice. Excellent class schedule, great curriculum, Brand new hospital to rotate in. I really hope they accept me.

Locals or people who have already interviewed--how how easy is it to travel between the medical school and the airport without a car? UKY is a 12 hour drive for me, which is ok... but if I can get a cheap plane ticket and catching a cheap(ish) cab to a hotel/the medical school is workable, I'd kind of rather do that.

I interviewed there this past saturday. It is about a 15min ride to the airport from campus. The cab fare was about $16.00 one way. The admissions office was very helpful in helping me get everything set up. Actually, come to think of it, the admissions people at kentucky are extremely nice about everything.

anyone heard anything yet. The wait is killing me and I dont want to be the psychotic applicant that calls to check their status too early.

I interviewed the same day as you and haven't heard anything. Didn't they say that the admissions committee was meeting on thursday (though not sure if it was the thursday immediately following our interview, or tomorrow)?

So we will hear back in 1-2 days? Awesome. I was expecting a longer wait!
Good luck to you too. 🙂

They didn't call me until 5:30 PM that Thursday following my interview. So you may be sweating all day tomorrow! but be patient, they will call.

I guess they only call for acceptances. What happens for waitlists or rejections? :scared:

Just got a phone call from my interviewer...First ACCEPTANCE!!! Feel so much better!

Got a call at 4 today, and I'm ACCEPTED! Woo! 😀

I'm really pumped about this acceptance. I really liked UK.

Congrats RocknAction!

accepted here to!!! called around 4:30, did not enjoy sweating it out. ha.

really happy

Got the call. I thought it was game over for me but even 7:30pm isn't too late I guess. 🙂 yay!

Congrats everyone and Scotsdoc! I'm TN resident and am so glad we're all getting some OOS love!

Glad to see all the OOS love from UK. Anyone less than excited about the OOS tuition though? haha

Ok, I feel obligated to say that it may be probably that I know "rocknaction" and copied his avatar lol please don't judge lol i know it looks super confusing... sorry!

Lol you might as well change your avatar to something original...

Waitlisted/hold. I called this morning. I'm bummed out but I guess its better than a rejection. I hope they let me in when they do the final pool next spring.

I got my acceptance call 10/15. was super excited, and still am.
UK wasn't a top choice going into the interview, but after learning more I really like the school. congrats to everyone! post if you accept the spot...

SUPER excited about being accepted here, i should hear back from another school on monday and then i suppose i should start thinking about where i would like to be.

OOS tuition...YIKES. but i dont think i really care, i liked the school too much, and its just money. we will have plenty later.

Yeah, I'm trying not to think too much about OOS tuition because I liked UK so much. I figure, I'm going to be spending at least 4 years at the place I attend and there are so many more important factors that will affect my well-being, success, and overall experience than money. So I'm trying to stay positive lol

I haven't done the math but the low cost of living in Lexington probably evens things out. A lot of other schools are about 10k less for OOS, but then cost of living probably exceeds that 10k difference. At least that's what I'm hoping to find when I start crunching numbers. 😉

ya, good call about the cost of living. i did not think about that. and the tuition guarentee is pretty nice too.

Any invites recently? Also, is a December interview considered late for this school? When does the class fill-up?

I'm not sure when this class fills... but I know people that interviewed in January and still got in if that helps at all.

Well certainly let us know what the numbers come out to, lol. The tuition guarantee is definitely nice, but 54k plus 16k living expenses (my tour guide said that's what she lived off of, while the school estimated 22k a year) is still 70k. 4 times 70k = 280k per year 😱. I wonder how much financial aid they offer?

ive been accepted, my status just says admissions review complete.

does others say anything diff?

any idea when i might receive my snail mail to follow stuff? accepted on thurs, the 22nd

Hey, yeah I have the same status and don't think it's a big deal. I'm not sure when we'll get our letters but I hope it's soon too!
