Finally submitted this thing last night. Although Duke is widely known for having the worst secondary essays, I'm pretty sure Kentucky could give Duke a run for its money...particularly if you also have to complete the OOS essay.

Oh well- finally done now! 🙂

Has anyone gotten called from UK? They called me to see if I had any questions [hopefully that's a good sign :xf:]. They said that they would be reviewing secondaries within the next couple of weeks for the first interview slot [October]. Just thought I would share those dates with everyone.

Thanks for the info TA225, I was wondering when they would start screening secondaries. Has anyone's status changed from "complete" to something else yet?

Mine still says complete...I could be wrong, but I didn't think that our AMCAS status would change again. I think it's just up to the schools now.

TA225, I'm talking about the application status on the secapp website. Ive checked the forums in previous years and under "Current Application Status", "File Complete" will change to "Sent to Screening" and eventually "Interview -- to be scheduled". All of this will be under the CHECK STATUS tab, that is if I'm correct in this whole thing...

Yup. And then it will say "Admissions committee review complete" when it is all said and done. It is unfortunate that it doesn't say "Accepted" like many other schools. Guess it doesn't matter here though because you get a call (usually) or call in.

AH! Sorry for the misunderstanding. I havent finished my secondary yet...so I didnt even think about that.

Got an Invitation to Interview!!! September 19th. I'm EDP so it could just be an EDP interview date, but anyone else let me know if you get the same date, I'm pumped!

Interview to be scheduled!!!! YESSSSS...

email invite or written on status page?

Wait my status page says that too: YAYAYAYAYAYA!!!!! Happy day!!!!!

Did you all just assign the letters from AMCAS to UK? It says they have not got my letters, but they have been assigned to UK since before I got the secondary. I'll try re-certifying again I guess.

Does anyone know if you can only submit 3 LORs, or are they ok with an additional letter?

On my status page is says "Not received" for my LORs too. Maybe they just haven't looked at our apps/downloaded the LORs yet.

The weird thing is that my status says "File complete" yet "Not received" for LORs. Yeah, jacked up. But I think we're good.

Send Kim an email or call. She is friendly and helpful in such circumstances, and it never hurts to talk person to person and become more than just another name on a page...

Hey Rockaction,
If you find out why they say "not received" please let me know. I'm wondering the same thing. I've got an interview set up, so I assume they have everything, but mine says the same thing. Maybe the "not received" just refers to specific form for UK that is not required if your letters were sent early on with AMCAS. In either case, good luck!

my status has said 2ndary received and paid since the 22nd. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY MY FILE IS NOT COMPLETE.

I have both called and emailed. i suppose i need to stay patient?

If you called and they said you were complete, then you are complete. They have been hyper busy with us all day with orientation, so maybe tomorrow or late on they will update these things again.

You have to remember, these people are VERY busy. Don't get frustrated, become impolite and risk your application!

how long did it take you guy's "application received" to "interview to be schedule" status?

I'm finally going to tackle this beastly secondary but I have a silly question.

For this essay " .Describe a situation in your undergraduate education when you felt alive and engaged in learning," can I write about something that happened during a post-bac class? Are they using the term "undergraduate" to designate the type of class and not before/after graduation?
.

I applied to UK two years ago. I was interviewed in January. They were very upfront and told me I was interviewing for a waitlist position because the class was already filled.

This is one school that you want to get all of your info in ASAP to have a real shot.

Oh and this is totally my first post on SDN! Pretty pumped! 🙂

Woohoo! Interview invite today from UK for Oct. 17 (OOS) 😀. Anyone else interviewing on that date? Anybody who had interviewed there have any advice for us?

Welcome to SDN!

Agreed. Applying early is the way to go. I did EDP, and it was one of the best decisions I have made thus far.

I have an interview scheduled too. First and, so far, only one.

Looking over interview feedback, they seem especially concerned about whether students are serious about matriculating there even if accepted elsewhere, such as UofL if you're in-state (I'm not). Looking at UofL and Kentucky side by side though, I'm not sure how one would go about choosing between them. Is one better for primary care than the other?

Just looking at their stats, they look like very similar schools. BUT I know UofL gives you some options for class. You can either attend lecture (8 hrs/day) or watch all of the lectures online, which they provide, and learn on your own with the online materials. She said there were weeks where she didn't go to class and just did it on her own. For me, I don't really like that teaching style. I would much rather go to class, so I'd prefer UK. Plus Lexington is such a better city to live in! 😀 (born and raised)

Did you guys send in pics that were exactly 2X2? I couldn't get that size at the store I went to so I ended up with 2.5 X 3.5 pics and they look pretty big. Problem?

I don't remember about the pictures. Do they ask for passport sized specifically? If so, then I probably sent one in that size (2x2). For other schools though, my wallet sized pictures are closer to 2.25 x 3.25.

I am interviewing on Oct 17th as well. I am super excited!

Interview invite Oct 17! I'm glad they're being bros to OOS. Kentucky looks pretty awesome. I'm totally excited. Especially to balance out the rejection I got from Vanderbilt today...

So I got an invite for Nov 19th today. Seems pretty late, did any one else get this?

Question -- if someone has multiple family members that attended medical school at UK, does that help their chances of admission?

So I realize I am really late on this post...but regarding UK/UL...
The facilities for the two schools are VERY different. UofL (I personally believe) has a dated complex. I took a class at the med school over the summer and basically didn't apply there because I was so turned off by their facility. Not to mention that Louisville is a very different city than Lexington. Of course I could just be partial, but what I am trying to say is that you should definitely take a look at that aspect of the two schools.

Do you guys think it's too late to send this one in? For those who have received invites, when are your interviews? Thanks ahead!

anyone know how long from the interview to be scheduled status, until they actually call or email to schedule the interview?

I've been accepted!! Any other EDP-ers hear back yet? I got a call on Thursday from the one of the committee members!!!! SOO HAPPY

Congrats! What time thursday did you hear? I will definitely not be screening my calls in the next few days. I applied edp to IU. I really want to be accepted there, if for no other reason than to not have to fill out UK's beastly secondary! You are the first one I have heard of to be admitted this cycle?

I didn't hear until 5:30 PM! talk about sweating all day...I knew from their website that they meet on Thursdays to discuss the previous week's applicants, so I knew there was a chance I would hear. Around 5:00, I had stopped obsessively checking my e-mail, but then the call came unexpectedly at 5:30

I also got my call last Thursday! It's such a relief to be in. So, KYMED2014, do you go to UK for undergrad? Did you interview on the 19th?

Any other OOS students scared off the cost of OOS tuition at UK? It's like 56k! I really like the school from what I've read and seen personally (I'll know more after my interview). Has anyone in the past transferred residency after M1 or something? I just can't fathom 56k in tuition plus living costs.

Yeah, no, really.... how long before you had an interview date after it said "Interview(s) to be scheduled" ?

Anyone interviewing on the week of the 12th?

Interview invite for 11/14... it seems a bit late o.0
Does anybody know when the class usually fills up?
