I withdrew today. I hope my scholarship goes to someone who loves USC, and that my spot helps out someone still waiting to hear. Good luck to everyone on the waitlist, I have a friend in the first year class right now who got off in mid-May, so keep your head up!

Thanks for the kind words and good luck wherever you matriculate!

For those waiting, USC will tell you what third of the waiting list you are on. I think in recent years, everyone ranked in the top third were able to get a spot, but it will obviously vary year to year. Good luck and hope this helps! Just give them a call to hear more about where you are.

Someone actually replied to a wait list question! Haha. I'm on the wait list right now and I gave Shelley a call earlier this afternoon for more details, but on average, do you know how many people theyactually place on the wait list??

I actually got my acceptance notice last week. I think I was one of the last to be notified, but then again I was one of the last to be interviewed.

Thanks!!

I'm sorry, I don't know how many are on the wait list, but with a class of 90 I'm guessing its quite small and will have a lot of movement. Good luck!:luck:

Wow, you turned down the full scholarship.....

Good luck!!

I have no idea either. I was told "middle" when I called in. When I asked how much movement was typical, the response was, "Sometimes a lot, sometimes hardly any at all."

Does anyone know how large the list is? Or if they have separate lists for OOS and In-State applicants?

I doubt that they would be a separate list for OOS and In-State applicants at this point.

Shelley kept saying that she couldn't say how many people were on the waitlist, but I want to say there are 30 to 45 people on it (half or a little less than half the class size). She also told me that the list is based off of your overall committee score, so movement is going to be based purely on people dropping out of the class, or people withdrawing from the waitlist.

I was told I was on the "bottom third" of the waitlist, so I'm guessing there isn't much hope for me for this year... unless A LOT of people withdraw their applications! 🙁

I spoke with Dr. Ford and she wouldnt tell me the exact size of the waitlist either. I asked whether it was 25 or 100 and she said closer to a hundred. Also, I am in the middle third of the waitlist and she told me it was "doubtful" that I would get in and that "I should make another plan." I guess I appreciate her honesty 🙁 Just thought I would share what I was told.

Well if it makes you feel better, Shelley said that they went all the way down to the middle third of the waitlist last year. Plus, it's still early. Middle is better than bottom third! :-/

I plan on calling after May 15th and seeing how much of change there is then. Hopefully the people on the top third of the waitlist get offers from other schools and withdraw from the waitlist!

Did you guys get letters about being on the waitlist? I interviewed way back and still haven't heard anything aside from my hold status.

Yes. Mine was delivered last week. If you still haven't heard anything I would give them a call.

Does this mean you were waitlisted, or was your acceptance part of the last wave of offers?
I actually have no idea. Dr. Ford didn't say anything about the waitlist, so I don't think I was ever actually on it... Who knows though

Withdrew today.

Too rich for my OOS blood. 🙂

Good luck to those on the WL!

Yeah I've been talking with the school about that, and it seems like i can pay OOS for the first year, and then once my residency has been established (12 months) instate tuition takes over 🙂

Does USC give out many grants/scholarships to In-State folks or are most people paying full price?

By the way, where do we send our transcripts from undergrad?

Another question, has anyone else gotten a background check request after finding out they were accepted?

Yeah actually. I just got accepted a few days ago and need a guy roommate.

Weren't you EDP? Did you just decide not to go to medical school?

Yeah I decided not to go. I've got a good job in the nuclear field and decided med school just wasn't a better option with all the changes coming in the next few years.

Any females looking for a roommate? Quiet, mature female looking to study 80% of the time

Is it me, or does USC appear to be one of the "slower" schools in notifying applicants?

I find this portion of the application process to be more stressful than the interviews!

So apparently, via inside-info, the waitlist is ~150 people. That's a ridiculously enormous amount of people. Here's to hoping there is a lot of movement!! 👍

Suddenly a spot in the top third of the waitlist does not seem so reassuring .......

Anytime they want to start contacting those on the waitlist, that would be super! 🙄

I was accepted off the OOS waitlist today! So there is still movement...

Congrats! Have you heard anything about being able to drop to instate tuition after the first year? (I'm OOS too and its EXPENSIVE.)

I'm oos. we were told after the interview,by Mr Kenney, that after the 1st year we are eligible to receive instate tuition once we have established residency. Since it typically takes a year to do so, he encouraged us to move May-June to ensure that we would be paying a lower tuition in MS-II

Good to hear.

I've actually been living here for 4 years (I go to school in SC) but never got my SC drivers licence as I planned on keeping my GA residency for MCG. Funny how that one worked out 🙄

I assume there will be a bunch of movement, there are probably like 70 or more people who were accepted to both MUSC/USC and will eventually have to choose one or the other, would make me think both schools have a lot of WL movement.

so jerel from fin aid told me to fill out the residency app on the usc fin aid website and sent it in earlier last week. does anyone know if we are supposed to wait to hear back from these people or just go ahead and get all the driverslicen/carplate/etc. changed ?

Never mind! Found it.

Well I just mailed my deposit today! Looks like USC it is. Anyone need a roommate?

Just accepted but just saw something that concerned me....I noticed the website says 3 quarters of English is required but I only have 2 (granted all my humanity classes probably had more writing). I hope this isn't a problem because during the application process and interview I was never alerted to this. Do you think I have a problem or will have to take English over the summer?

If they accepted you, I think that means your accepted!

In general I've heard that most schools essentially take a "if you meet the english requirements to graduate from your home school, then your fine for us" approach

Hey guys! I just got accepted on the 17th - I'm going to USC! 😀 I'm out of the country right now, which makes preparing everything before August difficult...

Anyone looking for another girl to room with?

Congratulations I'm out of the country as well I plan to be back in Columbia in the next 2 weeks though and I am looking for a roomie
