Your post is really interesting, Ilvcurst! I figured that it would be the other way around: that people outside of Michigan would know more about UM than Wayne's med school. How did you hear of Wayne, and how do you know more about it than UM? I know many here have stated that it's OOS-friendly, is that it?

Well I basically too the MSAR and made an excel spread sheet of every school. That was tedious...I input data on MCAT score, GPA, Due Date, %OOS, and State.

Then I sorted by MCAT score, then GPA, then Due Date (I applied late). I took the top 25 and I just applied to those schools lol.

So Wayne happened to be in my top 25!

If you don't mind me asking where is this excel spreadsheet I would really like to see it. thanks again,

Sure! PM me your email and I'll email it to you. I actually don't have ALL the schools on there because for instance, I didn't bother putting schools like Harvard and Johns Hopkins because I know I don't have a shot!

Anyways the data is however from 2007 or 2008 so it's a little bit outdated. But if you just want to check it out I can definitely send you a copy!

Good luck this week guys. You all seem a lil burnt out this time around.

It looks like the University of Michigan will start their waitlist movement on/after June 1st. We can't expect a big movement (U of M ADCOM said so themselves), but this should give us a bit more hope... Hopefully a few students will get pulled from Wayne to U of M!

I hope so! That could open some spots for ISers...maybe even a couple OOSers too. :xf::xf:

anyone have an idea which day of the week they are planning on sending the acceptances?

anyone have an idea which day of the week they are planning on sending the acceptances?

I just called and and asked if she knew when they would be sending out acceptances this week and she said she doesn't know because "they don't have a designated time."

So the fact that she didn't refute my statement about them sending out acceptances this week seems that she knew they would, in fact, be sending some acceptances out this week. As far as I know, acceptances have been handed out (post May 5th) on two Thursdays, a Monday and a Friday.

1 vote for Thursday.

2 votes for Thursday. I don't think they are going to do a couple admissions at a time this early, so they are probably going to wait until a reasonable amount of withdraws have been processed, then send out a mass email (not near as large as last week though I'm sure) with acceptances.

Mostly likely true since school doesn't start until August, it's probably easier for them to process by sending out a bunch at once!

Well at least the list is moving...and yes I think we all are a little bit burnt out!

I think everyone is just exhausted from waiting/hoping.

I just called the office and asked "How many people have withdrawn this week?" And she said "ummmmmm it loooks like there were.... 4" We can only begin to speculate what this means, if there are more that she didn't know about and only Dawn knew about (unless she was Dawn!). If they don't get a decent amount of withdrawals, I could see them waiting til next week to offer acceptances. No one told me this, but sending out mass offers has been been their MO up to this point. But who knows, maybe they will get another couple trickling in as the week goes on.

I wonder if they have any intentions of actually sending out acceptances this week or if they just wanted to tell us "at the end of the week" so we stop calling instead of "We dont know right now" which would lead us to calling all the time.

Just to let you guys know I feel like people have not withdrawn acceptances because they were slow to get the packets out. I just got my packet and I live in the metro detroit area. I can only imagine how slow snail mail can be if it had to go further than a 40 minute drive. Many more people should decline by the end of the week by the time they are able to look over the information that was sent out.

This sucks right now.

stillpremed2010- thanks for that glimmer of hope.

I wonder how many more IS/OOS will be taken of the list this year. It sucks that there is really NO way to know...and the only answer anyone can get is "it depends". All of this speculating is wearing my out. I am curious though, when the next batch of acceptances will go out. They might just wait another week. This is very difficult for an impatient person like myself. I'm sure many others here can relate.

Just a few questions... Does everyone who is accepted get the packet? It seems like that's what you are inferring from your post. Also, how long did they give you to decide if you want to attend or not?

now everyone knows what this is... but sadly, this is what we resemble. I'm sure as offers die down, we'll slowly accept the reality that we may not get one 🙁🙁🙁

we'll stop pressing at damn lever eventully

Yes, I think everyone gets the packet. They give everyone 3 weeks from date on the letter. Mine was dated May 20th. It looks like it may be a while before they send out more acceptances.

I noticed you're a reapplicant cindyloo. Major congrats on the acceptance!

I just got my packet and sent my deposit in yesterday, anyone know when we get our e-mail address or ID?

The 3 week answer is true. I imagine a lot of people will hold on to the acceptance until they no longer can. Therefore you will probably see a bunch of acceptances in 2 weeks or so. And yes everyone that is accepted gets a pack of information. Good luck to all!

I'd imagine that the people who hold on to their offer until the last second will probably end up picking Wayne anyways. Wouldn't they just be holding out for a better offer from another school, which they probably won't get since most waitlists don't move that much?

has anyone applied for on-campus housing (e..g University towers) and received confirmation? for the upcoming year?

Who's calling to see if they'll be sending out offers this week? 😀

I've called a bit ago, and the girl that answered was as ambiguous as possible. She said that they are waiting on more withdrawals before they send out a batch of emails.
And I also asked if they are going to shorten the list, and once again they're not sure but for now no.

In other words no "new" news

hmmm...doesn't seem like there will be much waitlist movement from now on. though i wonder why they would keep about 200 people on the waitlist. i would assume that they would want to cut that number down to a 100, but what do i know 😛

I've been saying it for a while, I bet they cut it down first week of June.

If they don't, I say someone needs to call and ask them to do it
It will be better for everyone I think.

Thanks! You can never underestimate the interview. Generally, if you get an interview chances are your GPA and MCAT are good enough. Now you just have to SELL yourself. 😎 Remember that the single most important factor for admission, at this point, is the opinion of the interviewer.👍 He or she is the one that goes up to the admissions committee to fight for your place. Here's a great book that helped me prepare: http://www.amazon.com/Medical-Schoo...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1275005879&sr=8-1

I've got that book too! It didn't help much for the Wayne interview though, not because the interviewers questions were so tricky but because they were so straightforward.

Hey guys, long time reader..first time posting..just wanted to tell everyone to keep the faith. I got accepted via phone call today..OOS (interviewed 3/26). After reading some of the speculation this week I was so down and didn't think that I would be getting in. Just wanted to say keep hoping, but don't let the stress get to you. Thanks for all your speculation, humor, and keeping me company (even though you didn't know it) through this stressful journey.. Good luck everybody.

Congrats!! Do you mind sharing your stats? especially if you're Canadian or not haha. Glad to know the list is still moving this week! 👍

So Sean and hopeful were both right about thursday ... I see that the predictions they are making are becoming more accurate.
Therefore I'm gonna leave the speculations for you guys !!

Then they must be handing out acceptances today! From the speculation I think...

It looks like they already did that yesterday. I don't think any of us can predict how the waitlist will move in june and july but it is going to be slow at best.

I think I'm all speculated out.

So how many people got an acceptance call/email yesterday and today ?

Hi everyone!

Just got "the call" at work yesterday around 12:30 pm from Dawn 🙂 I am a Canadian citizen. Here are my stats: GPA 3.7-3.8, MSc (clinical research), presentations at international and local conferences, published abstracts, one published first author paper, one month international volunteer work/observership in India, standard volunteer work. This was my 3rd time applying and I finally got lucky 🙂

Also, although this is my second time posting on this forum, I have been reading it everday which really helped me get through the frustration! It's comforting to know you're not alone 🙂 so thanks to all of you for sharing. For those of you still waiting...HANG IN THERE!!! I was in shock when I got the call and was preparing for the worst just a few days ago. I hope you hear some good news soon 🙂
Cheers

Congrats for finally getting in... I really hope more of us are taken off that wretched list.
This weekend is a long weekend, I think Tuesday we will have to call and hope for more withdrawals and thus more emails 🙂

Once again congrats

Congrats! Great to hear about perseverance and determination from another successful Canadian applicant!

Tell that to the guy that applied 4 times and still didn't get in!

That would suck 🙁

Have a good long weekend everyone!

Got the call this past Thursday at 12:05. All I remember is them saying we'd like to offer you a spot, and me saying I'd like to accept. After that I was kinda in a daze, after waiting so long and finally hearing from them.

I remember them saying they were going to send something in the mail. Thank God for the Student Doctor Network and this forum. Now I know they are sending packets. I'm holding off celebrating until I get it in the mail, but oh, is memorial day weekend making this a long wait. Good luck to everyone else on the wait list, hope there is more movement this next week!

Btw, is there a facebook group for the entering class?
