From your phone call, were you able to deduce whether they usually mail them to permanent address or temporary/school address?

Just an FYI, while I'm not sure if decisions went out on time (yesterday), they are going to be overnighting the acceptances and most likely going to email wait lists and rejections. In other words, people could be getting the acceptances today. They plan to delay wait lists and rejections a bit so that all decision come out around the same day.

by the way, mmmcdowe, just wanted to let you know that you are the biggest contributor to my huge desire to go to columbia now. i used to not care if i got in or not, but these next few days are going to be gruesome now
Firstly, I'm a girl. Secondly, I work WITH mmm and the admissions reps to make sure you all love columbia as much as we do! Wouldn't dream of overshadowing him in any way 😉 Just thought I'd send an update on how the acceptances would be delivered! I know that was a big question for all of us last year.

if the acceptances truly went out yesterday, and they were truly overnighted, people should be posting about receiving them within the next hour or two... i'm skeptical though.

Are you certain that the envelopes you saw were not just priority mail mailers (which look similar to overnight mail envelopes but take 2-3 days)? Last year's thread mentioned acceptances coming in priority mail envelopes ...

Confirm the emailing of these (which they weren't 100% about last week) and also how they are overnighting.
I'm also a lurker, 1st time poster. The whole snail mail thing is so slow... its killing me. I guess snail mail is tradition, but some traditions are silly. This one is like bull fighting- its just cruel and unusual punishment.
Anyone feel the opposite? I kinda liked getting the envelope. But! They are considering changing it! If you all thing it would be better by email they'll take it into account. It makes their lives a bit easier, so they're not opposed.
I'm split. I also like having a real letter, but I wish I knew the decision already.
Snail mail decisions (as well as the need to snail mail in a photo for the secondary, albeit to a much lesser extent) just make a school seem needlessly old fashioned and unwilling to adapt to change.
Email at a specific time and then official letters you can hold would be nice. That's how college admissions worked for me. I liked that I knew I could stop freaking out after 5 pm on a specific day. It erased the burden of constantly checking since I knew the time and date to check once.
