MD/PhD interview invite!!! Complete somewhere around 9/21 (when MCAT scores came back).

I'm looking forward to checking this school out during the two-day interview process! 🙂

got the same status today…except without the typo. They must have seen your post robflanker 🙂

interviewed the week of 10/4
less than two weeks to get to committee review!!!
 
I interview here November 1st! Anyone else coming in then?

I interviewed 9/29 and my status is still the old "Your interview has been scheduled..."

Lame! I want to panic and hover over the mailbox too! I guess they review piece wise instead of in lumps. O well.

As long as I don't get lost again. I called Dartmouth a few weeks ago to see why I wasn't complete and at first I got "just wait longer, its fine" and then 2 days later I got a "o opps, hold on, I think we screwed up something". A few minutes later I was complete. The fate of the scientific elite rests on a few Excel errors and typos! Yay!

Any predictions for first round getting letters? I'm gonna go with tomorrow! 22 seems like a good number.

Fun fun... I interviewed that day too.

The more of the process I see, the more I'm convinced the timing is completely random at every school. Depends on when your stuff is in, who's reviewing your file/how long they typically take, what side of the bed they got up on, what phase of the moon it is, etc - just too many things play in to be able to predict when things are going to happen.

That said, hearsay on last year's thread was that the committee meets on Thursdays, so since I'm under review I'm hoping for a quick (and good) decision!

"A final decision has been made..." I interviewed 10/4, so that's a fast turn around. I dont know if that's good or bad. Here's to spending the next week by the mailbox..

I'm in the same boat. I interviewed 9/24. I live in NJ, so hopefully the letter arrives in mail either today or tomorrow.:xf:
 
Has anybody received anything in the mail yet?! Please let us know how long it takes from the status change to actually recieve something...

Last year it took 1-2 weeks. I got a final decision on Monday and haven't received my letter yet and I live on the western side of PA.

Interviewed on 10/15.... I see some ppl have been getting the typo message... have we figured out what the difference is between the two?

See my above post regarding the typo. The messages go in a certain order post-interview:

Under review by a member of the committee (no typo. a couple people here have skipped this message entirely.)
Under review by the admissions committee (there was a typo here, supposedly has been fixed. whether or not there is a typo here does not mean anything as far as I can tell.)

The next message is the one where people were convinced there was a meaning last year:
A final decision has been made - results in acceptance or rejection (from there, big envelope = acceptance, small envelope = rejection.)
A decision has been made - waitlist. (small envelope.)

From last year's thread, it appeared that *most* of the first round of decisions were acceptances, but we know SDN is a self-selected crew and may not represent the whole population.

Last year when I interviewed (around the same time) I was rejected outright. We'll see if my luck is any better this go around.

So what's the difference between a 'member of the admissions' and 'the admissions' status? Is one better than the other?

Your file is reviewed by a single member of the adcom - someone who hasn't seen your file - before it goes to committee, at least that's what I understood from the interview day. Any current students lurking who know for sure?
 
I got the letter status on monday and am still waiting for my letter to arrive. I'm like 10mins away, i should have offered to just go pick it up
 
Got my letter today. Postmarked yesterday. Status changed on Monday, I live in Philly. I'm gonna be a doctor! ^_________^

I have the same status now. When you were rejected from the school last year, what status did you have in the web portal? Was there no status?

Letter came today - and mine said "a final decision" online
 
Mine just says application complete and it's been this way since August... should I be worried? I retook my MCAT and new scores came in mid Sept.

I can I applied last year and got "a decision" and was WLed and everyone who got a final decision was accepted or rejected.
 
has anyone sent update letters? any luck? and where do we send them to?

Nafis, those were findings someone posted in last year's thread - minus the committee member --> adcom --> decision/final decision bit.

The committee meets every Thursday. When decisions are made, the letters may not go out the same day, so there's about a week delay. I remember my "Final Decision" status going up and getting my letter exactly 1 week later, so you guys have it right. Our class had a huge spectrum in turn around times - they really don't mean much. It just depends when all the evals are in and how many files there are to review, etc.

I know it's hell to wait, but hang tight guys! Good luck to all of you!

What time does it typically arrive anyways, 1 ish?

In any case, I won't be coming home today because of an interview tomorrow... 🙁

Really don't think it's coming already today, but I totally understand the urge to hover by the mailbox. 🙂
 
My online status updated today (monday) to the "Committee is reviewing your file". Looks like I will know soooooooooon. Interviewed 9/29.

I believe we're both MA residents. If you receive yours in the next few hours, I'll take it as a sign that mine will have arrived too.

9/20 Interview.

Basically 1 month turn around... alot better than last year.. when I interviewed 2/4 and didn't get a decision until 5/15!

CONGRATS!!!

I got final decision'ed on the same day... but I'm guessing my letter won't get to me until tmr because I live farther. Damn.... I wish I can check my mailbox right now. On the other hand, I'll be home tomorrow to personally check my mailbox after my interview is done.

do they give rank if you are wait listed? i remember them saying that on the interview day..
 
Just got home and got my letter. My first acceptance. Needless to say I'm sooo excited!

oh, OOS 3.6/31 interviewed on 9/30 and had the "final decision" last monday.

They don't tell anyone their waitlist ranking. I believe they claim to not rank it. But I am not sure.
