3.93/37Q, but still have not heard back yet. IS (45 minutes away), complete 8/2. Should I call, or send an update letter?
The only downside to my application was that I was charged with a misdemeanor(driving incident) that was later (by decision of judge and prosecution) reduced to a traffic violation. Everyone I called (including AMCAS) said I better list it, then to not, and err on side of caution, in case the background checks reveal the charge and I dont mention it on AMCAS. It was a stupid immature thing I did in a vehicle when I was 19 (I am 21, nearly 22 now).
How much will this negatively impact me getting an invite from Emory? (Feel free to post opinions, but this is more for students lurking this thread that are already in Emory, that may actually be able to shed some light from their experience during the interview/application process)
Thanks,
I have an interview on a Friday. I read on the Emory interview survey on this site that M1s have tests or quizzes every Friday, but that was from someone who posted in October of 2007. Can anyone confirm if that's true? It seems like it'd be a whole lot less worth it to stay with a student host on a Thursday before a quiz/test.
Also does anybody have a rough idea of what the schedule is for the entire day? Are the interviews first thing when you get there? Last? Etc.
Thanks
PS I'm OOS with a 3.3sci/3.5 overall and a 37 MCAT

Don't stress, interviews haven't even been going on for a month; they can only interview 36 people a week.
Hey so they say bring sneakers for the tour. Does that mean wear dress shoes to your interview and change to sneakers for the tour, or does it mean we can just show up in sneakers?
you would want to have dress shoes for the interviews, but I'm fairly certain the "bring walking shoes" is mostly targeted at women who are wearing heels or something of that nature. At my interview I don't remember anyone changing shoes and everyone seemed to walk around just fine
hmmmmmm does that mean I can't change into my flip flops?? (I am only half serious). I am already in Atlanta for my interview this monday and I only brought flip flops and high heels. I think I will just stick to the heels....
Hah! I just re-read the interview confirmation and it says in bold and all caps that flip flops are not allowed. Definitely wearing heels.
anybody know when the first acceptances are mailed? the paper from the interview day says "on or before 11/2" but i heard from a student that sometimes that gets pushed back..
I was just recently there and they stuck with the 11/2 day and seemed pretty determined to mail them out by then.
That seemed to be my feeling also, but they really seemed to stress that they are very conservative with acceptances early on, so I'm not getting my hopes up at all really. Maybe come February or something
That makes no sense, at least not to me. Their website shows that October 15 is the last day to submit an application, so shortly thereafter Emory knows the MCAT score and GPA data for each applicant. Obviously, if you are granted an interview, you meet their criteria for being accepted and the rest is up to you. If you have the numbers and have a positive interview, why would they delay sending you an acceptance?
😕 Just because the deadline is Oct. 15 and they have all their applications for the season does not mean that they have reviewed every single application. There may be an application that may not be strong numbers-wise, but the applicant may have some great essays, strong LORs, and is very unique. So they may give that person an invite and end up giving that person an acceptance. Numbers only does not an interview grant.
Except that it REALLY does give you an interview invite. While numbers alone do not, very few applicants have 3.9+ and 38+ with nothing on their work/activities. 3.9+ and 38+ usually shows commitment, drive, AND intelligence. I really doubt that such people will have nothing to show for activities, PS, and LORs. If they work hard in school, then would it be that far of a stretch to say that they work in all aspects of their lives. And besides, almost everyone does some research, some clinical volunteering, and some sort of leadership. It may be a shock to those of us who are mortal and have less than stellar numbers (like me 😵), some of the best/unique activities each application cycle come from higher stats people (it was pretty shocking for me).
I'd say the opposite has been true as well as far as people with below average numbers having some of the greatest experiences I've heard of, so it's hard to generalize.
I think this just shows you can't guarantee what will be on someone's application based on their numbers, which is precisely why they would wait to review every application carefully and actually interview a significant number of the competitive applicants before offering acceptances.
It may make it more stressful by making you wait longer, but it really just shows me that they actually take the time to review every applicant they interview very carefully before offering acceptances.
the fact that you think logic applies to any part of this admissions process amuses me.😛 lol

has anyone gotten an interview offer recently?
Wow, after interviewing here friday and having another today, it is almost unfair for today's school. The bar Emory set was so high that I feel I was almost spoiled as far as interview days go. This school is truly amazing.
congrats, when were you complete?
How did you find out about interview invites? Email? Do they also have any other status updates on the site we filled in our secondary?
If they do not get a response via email to an interview invite, do they typically try to resend the email or call?
I am just curious, this is almost more of a general then emory specific question. But what happens if your spam/trash filter, or an error prevents you from receiving the one and only email that says you get an interview?
Complete 9/17 3.86/3.88 34P. Really Hoping to get an interview invite.
I heard emory interviews later than other schools, I have been complete since 8/3 and still have not heard back.
Really?! Nice!Got a call from the dean on Friday. In like Flynn🙂

yo tambien... plus I thought no decisions until nov 2 at the least.Yup they said they wouldn't call at my interview as well....
Anyone know if Economics courses count toward the 18 semester hour humanities/social science requirement?
I know it's not listed on their site as an example of these types of courses but hopefully a current student will know the answer.
Thanks
I just got an interview invite this morning and since I was an econ major I used almost all econ courses for the requirement. I hope that indirectly answers your question.
