When I went to interview, they were pretty clear that they did things the old-fashioned way entirely: no e-mail, no call. Just a letter sent by USPS. (They did say they'd call, though, if you don't respond to their offer within two weeks.)

Anyway I just realized I gave them my college apartment as my address... and I'm at home now... so I've got a while to wait.....

i go an interview invite a few days ago ^^ i was wondering if anyone can tell me more about the group interview? how its structured... what kind of questions to expect.. etc. I've never done a group interview before 🙁

I can only speak to my experience; however, mine was super relaxed. There was another applicant and myself along with 3 interviewers-two physicians and a current medical student who also was our tour guide. They were very friendly and asked interesting--not tough--questions about our file and personalities. It gave the other applicant and myself a chance to bounce ideas off of one another and draw on each other's experiences in answering the questions. After ~40 minutes or so, we left the room as they reviewed our numbers, and only if they had any questions about our "numbers" did we return for more questions--in my case we didn't.

Hope this helps. Don't fret about it...like seriously.

The group interview is really like a one on one interview with other people watching. There are 3 interviewers. They take turns asking questions. When they ask a question they will direct it to one of you. Then they will continue to the 2nd interviewee either with the smae or different question and then to the third with same or different question. So you just ansewr the questions your asked. Thats it.

Looks like people will be receiving good news in the mail for the next few days... If you do then pretty pretty please post where you live so us paranoid people living farther away know when the wave of mail should reach us. Many thanks and congrats! 😀

do you still think there's a chance letters from this past cycle haven't been received?

:xf: + :luck: to everyone!!!!

It seems super unlikely that everyone already has their acceptances and not a single one of 'em have posted about it. So there's hope still....

No one on SDN has posted anything about the December 21st mailing yet... wondering if we're jumping the gun or if it got delayed...

Hey guys, I just got my letter in the mail yesterday and I live 5 minutes from Emory.

Really? 1 acceptance? What happened to this last wave? :/

Hey guys, I just got my letter in the mail yesterday and I live 5 minutes from Emory.

Was there a postmark date on the envelope? I have almost given up hope on this mailing- grasping at straws that the mailing was delayed.

I got the letter yesterday in the mail. AMCAS completed in June, interviewed early October. No postmark date on the envelope, but the acceptance letter is dated December 17th if that helps.

Where do you live?

Just got the acceptance letter in the mail! I live in Virginia if that helps any of you who are still waiting. Good luck!

Does anyone know when US News reranks the medical schools for the new year? I'm curious because Emory is tied with some other schools, and I'm curious to see if Emory is going to pull ahead.

Quick financial aid question for anyone else who is accepted (or happens to know)

On the home website there is this PDF and in it it shows a bunch of information about the average debt of Emory medstudents, but its from 2006. I was wondering if there are any more up to date versions out there?

I'm trying to start doing some heavy thinking about the Emory vs State School conundrum most of us will be facing and the most up to date info would be helpful. (Obviously will wait to see my financial aid before any decisions are made, but helpful to start thinking earlier rather than later)

I got my letter in the mail on Dec 30th! I had a horror story worthy interview, so I was super surprised I got in! Interviewed in early Dec. And I'm in NY.

Congrats!! I also had a rough interview so this gives me hope 🙂 Seems like I didn't get lucky on this last wave... maybe next time!

Just got an interview invitation today. Complete 9/15.
Not sure that I'm going to accept the interview that I've been accepted somewhere else that I think I like more... I've already spend so much on travelling for interviews this year. :/

edit: I guess I should add that my interview is scheduled for February 4th, just in case you wanted to know.

If anyone knows, could you help me out and tell what day in late July Emory officially starts?

I'm not sure where else you have been accepted but Emory completely blew me away when I interviewed. If you have the money, I say go to the interview! I can't imagine you would regret it!

^Thanks! After an evening of deliberation and looking at the curriculum I've decided to go for the interview. Hopefully I'll see some of you there 🙂

how many acceptances do you think they've given out? do most of their acceptances go out in march, or did i make that up?

Interview invite today for Feb 7th! Complete 9/20. Excited to see the school!

Did you send any updates recently that could have gotten you an invite? I was complete the day after you so I am glad to see there is still hope!

For anyone that has already interviewed, is MARTA fast enough to get you from the interview to the airport if your flight is around 7pm? Or do students normally group together for a rideshare van?

My flight left at 7:15 and I took MARTA and was at the airport with plenty of time to spare. About 5 other interviewees took it with me, so we went in a big group. Def a good way to go, and it's only a few dollars.

Good luck!!!:luck:

After mailing in the pink slip, is there any sort of confirmation to be expected/more information sent?

I mailed my letter in two weeks ago and received a call from the admissions office today wondering if I had sent it yet. They said they'd email when it gets to them

Hey, so I'm interviewing this week 😀 and am staying an extra day- any suggestions on fun things to do in Atlanta?

Does anybody know if Emory has an official second look? Or if there is a suggested way to visit if there isn't a second look?

Thanks!

-Mike

From what I can tell, there is no official second look.. pretty disappointing, actually. I would love to take another trip down there..

Hi everyone! I interviewed at Emory back in October and absolutely loved it. I haven't heard a peep from them since but I just received an email about changing financial aid directors. Jw, did everyone receive this or could this possibly herald better news on its way? :xf:

I think we all got it (unfortunately!).

I was admitted in late November. Have any of you who were admitted been invited to interview for the Woodruff Scholarship?

Wonder if they're still giving out interview invites... would really have liked to have gotten one but I reckon I may be out of the running 🙁

Interview Invite!

Complete: 8/16
Interview Invite: 01/24
Interview Day: 02/18

Woooot! I also just got an interview invite to Emory for 2/18. Unfortunately, I had to reschedule due to an interview at Baylor already locked in on that date. The other open days are 2/21 and 2/25, which I was told is the last day of interviews. I'll be there on the 25th! Can't wait!

I know, right? Glad I sent in that update letter! I like to think it contributed! I just received the email saying they got it a few days before I got the invite... it took like a month to be added to my file. Definitely psyched!!!! If anyone wants to share details about the interview day/tours please feel free to do so.

Emory is awesome. Everyone there was very warm and kind during my interview day. I felt that the group interview was way less stressful than I was expecting. Have fun! 🙂

Busy workday and SOTU - no time to read through this whole thread right now. I got an interview invite today. Has there been any talk about whether it's worth interviewing this late in the cycle? From a quick scan through it looks like Emory is rolling?
