2010-2011 PhD/PsyD Interview Invite thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Was wondering if the person/people who have received invites to DU could message me their POI information and any additional info they received about interviews. Don't mean to add to the "please message me" trend but little info on DU has been posted. thanks.... Thats the University of Denver

Ugh how frustrating. I feel like some schools really need to have the people that answer the phone on the same page for the information they give. It seems like sometimes student workers are answering the phone and I felt like if they didn't have an answer for me right away they made a "guess". But I would definitely take the info Dr. Rosenfeld gave you as fact over what I heard. He is the director after all.

Just to clarify...did he mean invites for in person interviews will be received in the beginning of Feb?? Or that the actual in person interviews themselves will happen during the beginning of Feb?

He said that interviews would be held 2/2, 2/4, and 2/9.

How convenient - it seems that 2/18 is a popular interview date this year. Does anyone know if the interview dates are optional (i.e., you can interview on 2/18 or 2/28) or whether they're already set (i.e., clinical program interviews are 2/18 and another program's interviews are 2/28)?

"We will meet as a committee in early February to select applicants to invite to our interviews. If you are selected, you can expect a phone call and/or email from a potential mentor between February 2 - 4. Our interview days are Friday February 18 and Monday February 28."

email sent today - guess its another week of waiting....

Could the people who already got invites at the following schools (if you have not PMed me: only one person has) please PM me with your POI and how you got the invite?

University of Denver
University of Washington child clinical program
University of Colorado at Boulder

Thank you in advance for doing this. It is a big help! And Congratulations!!!!!!

Not to get all huffy, but if anyone is claiming to have been invited to interviews when they have not, please stop. This forum could be a valuable resource for those of us waiting to hear from grad schools and posting false information is really uncool. I just got an email from a school that listed their admissions timeline and they are not deciding on interview candidates until early February, yet somebody posted that they have already been invited to an interview there. Please be courteous to your fellow applicants and stop this nonsense.

Thank you and good luck.

Just playing devil's advocate here, it may not always be nefarious. It is possible that some people who may be RA's at that school, or are closely connected to the program in another way, may have found out they were invited before "official" invites have gone out. I know of one person who is in an M.A. program at a school she is applying to, and was told by the DCT (for whom she is an R.A.) that she was invited before they sent anything to anyone else. She didn't post this info as far as I know. I'm just saying there are always connections out there that we don't know about. Or maybe I am in denial and just can't let myself believe that anyone would be cruel enough to post a fabricated interview invite.😳

Surprisingly (and unfortunately), this has apparently occurred in this year's APPIC internship application thread as well. It serves as a reminder that you should, to the best of your ability, try not to get too caught up in this thread or jump to premature conclusions. Unless you've received a definitive notice from a program itself, you're still in the running.

Anyone hear from Auburn yet? Says on their site that invites were supposed to go out by today...

Can you tell us what school this was?

Absolutely agree! I got the same email (for the person who asked, it was UMass Boston) after having been pretty upset at seeing interview invites had already gone out.

Definitely a reality check. Need to breathe!!!!

Speaking to myself there, but I'm sure we'd all benefit from a nice, deep breath!

PGSP PsyD tried to call, but I was on a plane and missed it....so instead I received an email from POI. I know PGSP PsyD has 3 interview dates scheduled in February, so don't give up hope yet!
Thank you very much! I appreciate it and best of luck to you!!

I just checked my application status and it STILL says that all of my letters of recommendation are missing. I know that they have all been turned in. Does your app status still say that yours are missing?? I cannot get in touch with anyone at GSU....hopefully I can take this as a sign that they haven't even processed my application yet, which is why I haven't got an interview invite yet right???? *wishful thinking*

Hi all,

For those of you who applied to GSU clinical program, I called them today because the application status system said it was missing all of my letters of recs (mini-heart attack). From my phone call, I learned that (1) my letters of rec were received just not printed and sent to the department yet and (2) they are still processing applications due to winter break and the snowstorm. The person I spoke with said that would still be processing application up until next week.

For anybody who's getting ready to interview at the U of Arkansas, and specifically with Patricia Petretic: They've had three students leave the program prematurely over the past three years, all of them her students. Draw you own conclusions.

I found this odd too. I was curious so I searched the professor and either she hasn't updated her website in 10 years, or she hasn't published in 10 years, so it doesn't seem that likely that she's trying to eliminate competition. But whatever, I'm sure this is drama I don't want to be involved in and I'm not saying anything more about it.

I am working at GSU currently, and I can attest to their delays. Atlanta was not prepared for the snow, and the school lost a week (we only opened the from 1/4-7 and this past Monday-Now.)

In response to the "bad press" on here, and false information about schools inviting people, remember that this is a stressful time for people, and it can bring out the worst in people. For those who aren't invited somewhere, they may feel better by bringing down the morale of others, or just be immature and jealous and whatever. Stress and competition tends to lead to bad things in some people.

My point is, as it's nearing the end of January, people are going to start getting desperate and discouraged, and try to bring down others to feel powerful, as we are all quite powerless in this invite thing and it can be frustrating for people who are used to succeeding. So be VERY cautious interpreting posts. I was also a "victim" of the UMASS invite information, and had a hard time believing that invites had gone out and was brought to earth when I received the email this afternoon. I think gradcafe, with the total anonymousness of it, can lead to people to post stuff without worrying about being "caught." I like this board, because people can be contacted and you can see if they are real or not. I'm not going to go anywhere near gradcafe. It's bad stuff. 🙂

Thank goodness about UMASS though!!! And don't forget to keep your cool, part of graduate school is being able to remain sane and emotionally intact under stress. It's a great lesson, regardless of whether one is invited to a school or not!!!!

Which UMass was this??

Yep my app status stills says incomplete in terms of my letters. I agree, they were hit by the snow and was assured by the staff member that my letters were received and that they were slowly but surely processing them.

Hi,
I'm starting to get nervous. Only two of my schools were posted on this website. Does that mean others aren't interested that are on this website or are the schools slow and they haven't contacted people.

My schools
Rosalind Franklin
Nova Southeastern
Yeshiva (health)
University of Kansas

I applied to other schools but I know the status of those schools.

Hi Everyone

I've been reading the thread for a while but just joined now. I was wondering if the person who heard from Northwestern might be willing to PM me their POI. Also, does anyone know if that response from UW-Madison was legitimate, and if so, I'd love some more details on that as well.

To the person who just asked about Yeshiva, that app was just due this month, so you probably have a bit to wait before anyone will hear anything.

Thanks so much for any and all help - this forum has been really helpful! 🙂

Received invite this evening for a phone interview with my POI at University of Illinois at Chicago. I thought I read somewhere on here that someone contacted the grad secretary there who stated that in person invites only happen after acceptance(so phone interviews are the only interview), but I can't find that now, anyone know if thats the case? btw, heard about the interview this evening and its in the morning, yikes!!

Could the person who heard from LSU PM me their POI? It's my first choice! Thanks!!!

Did somebody really hear from LSU already? It's only four days past the deadline..

Edit: Whoa, sorry for my eerily quick post, lol. I had just come back and refreshed, I wasn't lurking here waiting or anything weird!

Could the VCU person PLEASE pm your POI? I would really, really appreciate it. And CONGRATS to everyone invited today! I'm happy to have gotten a couple interviews but it's still hard to see top choices go up without hearing anything..

This is a crazy process!😳

Can the person that received an invite from Catholic please send me a PM with your POI? Thanks so much!

Would you mind PMing me with who your POI is from UIC? Congratulations on the interview!

Has anyone heard from (these are all clinical psych PhD):

1) Fordham
2) Rutgers
3) UMass Boston

In regards to Fordham, I have noticed some posters saying actual in-person interviews are in early Feb, Feb 9 at the latest. That being said, shouldn't invites have gone out by now? Yet I don't see info on Fordham being listed yet.

and in regards to UMass Boston, so I take it there was some false information floating around about invites? Just to confirm -- they have NOT sent their invites out yet right?

To the person who received an invite to UConn after the phone interview please PM me your POI? Waiting anxiously to hear post phone interview. THANK YOU 🙂

Fordham is still on track in terms of what they did last year. Last go-round, they sent invites on Jan 19 for 3 interview dates that started on Jan. 29. Still, they kind of have to send them out soon, right?

Hi all,

I emailed one of my POI's at Vermont and he said that they are still extending invites and making decisions in the next week or so. All hope is not lost....yet!

After two years of applying, I just received my first interview this morning!! What a great feeling! Good luck to everyone!

This is my first year of applying and I myself got my first interview this morning :soexcited:

Good luck!

I just got an interview with Lehigh for their school psychology program. Hooray! Anyone else?

I wasn't the one who sent it in, but I got an interview invite from VCU yesterday as well. My first one! Yay! 🙂 Seems like several of us got our first bits of good news yesterday! Anyway, if anyone is looking for info about VCU, feel free to PM me.
