They don't accept update/interest letters until all offers have been made. Then those on the waitlist are allowed to send them but only when requested. At least that's how it worked last year.

BTW, did Rush send out any acceptances/decisions today? I thought they did every wednesday.

My bad

I believe that acceptances have gone out on Friday this cycle. At least that was the case for the December acceptances.

Mine came on Tues -- honestly, I don't think they have a set day of the week that they send out decisions

Is it too late to expect an interview invite from Rush? Complete 11/3, no interview invites yet? I know I'm late but I really really like Rush.

On the file status page:

If you're file is complete, what next?

Rush Medical College has a rolling admissions process. Therefore, only applicants with File Complete Status will be evaluated and selected for an interview invitation. Interview Season will run from October to March. This means that even if you do not hear from us for several months after achieving File Complete status, we are continuing to consider your application. Thank you for your patience.

I say if you submitted your application before the deadline, you're still in the running to be considered for an interview; however the odds are stacked against you because you were marked complete late in the cycle. Doesn't mean you won't get invited.

Assuming this was an isolated incident since you personally got a call from them...hoping they send out decisions tomorrow!

i got a call to say that i was accepted one week after interviewing and two weeks before i got the actual email. fwiw, i wouldnt be surprised if it gets increasingly difficult to predict when emails will go out because of the backup from the holidays. sit tight everyone, and hopefully you will hear good news!

*forgot to add that my email came on a thursday.

Just got an interview invite here at 3 AM. SO excited. Going next week. Do you have any idea if they are still interviewing for normal spots in the class at this point, or is it only for the waitlist?

I got an interview invite today, but only 2 date options: one tomorrow (impossible) and one late Feb. That's soo late! Is there anyway I can keep checking the interview dates as they open? my file doesn't give me that option anymore since I've scheduled the Feb one (I didn't want to lose the spot).. what should I do?

This happened to me, I emailed and they were able to schedule me for a date that wasn't available on my online calendar, for some reason only 1 date showed up. They are very, very responsive to emails!

My earliest interview date was for tomorrow 1/19, I ended up taking the 2/9 slot. My only options were 1/19, 2/2 - the system said this date was full so I was offered the 2/9 option which is perfect for me.

Congrats to those of you who received interviews! Any chance you could share the dates that you were complete and whether you're IS/OOS?

Got an e-mail at 1:51 am this morning welcoming me to Rush. Thank you Blackberry for getting it to me first thing this morning :)

So excited to be a part of the Rush community! And what a great turn-around. Interviewed on 1/5 and already heard back! I thought my chances were zero after a pretty rough interview, but I guess Rush really does look at the whole application!

My freind got an invite to interview two days ago. So I guess they are still moving along. I was complete in Dec on this one, so I am really late. I'm still waiting to receive an interview. I just refuse to lose hope on it.

I'm glad to see people are still getting interview invites. I'm an OOS and I had to apply late. My completion date was 11/11/10.

I've got an interview at UIC scheduled March 23rd. Does anyone know how open their interview schedules are that far out? It'd be amazing if I could only have to fly once.

rush does not accept update/interest letters or in the area calls pre-interview. when i interviewed there they seemed pretty overwhelmed by the number of applications they received this year, so it will probably take some time to get back to everyone. if i remember correctly, they interview until april, so there is still time. good luck!

Njguido, I have similar stats so I certainly hope you have a chance. Anyone care to reassure or crush our hopes?

My friend has similar stats, but he hasn't gotten an interview invite yet. It's really weird. I wonder how they pick people.

Hi, I was accepted to Rush on Jan 14th. I am trying to find out some information about where to live, and opinions about living at the on campus housing versus living in the surrounding areas. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Well I have an interview with UIC and I'm OOS so I figured I could count on an interview invite from a private university. You can't really count on anything in this process though.

Oh well if I get an interview it'd have to fall on the same week as my UIC interview which is a long shot so I'm not going to shed many tears if I don't get one.

Congrats! As for the living accom, I dont know much about the apartments they have. But there are a bunch of affortable places near the medical district. Granted it isnt the nicest part of Chicago. If you want to go a little further away from campus and spend a little more, there are some really nice places like downtown, oldtown, wicker, lincoln park and lakeview (basically near the loop and a few miles north). Going south is gonna be cheaper but you might run the risk of getting gang banged.lol.. I live in Lincoln park and obsolutely love it! Wouldnt trade it for any other city in the US!

No doubt your stats are great -- I'm sure Rush agrees -- the issue here is that you applied at the end of the cycle -- Rush began accepting people and scheduling interviews in Oct (Note: they were accepting people with 29's & 30's) Those who were offered interviews in Nov and Dec had to select dates in Jan and Feb (see how they are beginning to "fill-up"?) -- if you don't get an interview invite, apply again this year and apply EARLY -- you'll most likekly find out by November.

Just my 2 cents...

I'm lazy and unfamliar with Chicago, so I'll probably do student housing the first year, but I found this and it seems helpful: http://www.rushu.rush.edu/servlet/S...Level2Page/Level_2_Student_Services_Area_Page
Scroll to the bottom and choose "Off-Campus Housing Guide."

Hi fishsticks,

I'm currently try to decide between Rush and the University of Iowa and a major factor that keeps coming up is the area in which Rush is located. I've heard of students that don't enjoy the school because of the area--I think this is a bit silly, but of course I have to worry about it in my decision process. I've heard great things about lincoln park, but would the commute take very long/would it be hard to get to Rush from that far out?

Thanks!

P.S. Any other sort of decision help would be greatly appreciated anyone :)

The area is a major factor of me going to Rush versus other schools! Rush specifically is in the Illinois medical district with IofI and Cook County right next door. The commute from lincoln park in a car would be about 10-12 minutes(3-6miles).. But if you want to move downtown then the commute is like five or you can take the pink line and be there in 10 (about a mile or so from the loop). If you like city living , I would absolutely choose Rush!
I guaruntee you its ten times better than Iowa City!

ive lived in both iowa city and chicago, and chicago >>>>>>> iowa city... but im a city girl. iowa city was full of frat boys and there werent any memorable bars or restaurants. there really wasnt much to see or do there. university of iowa hospitals though are awesome. im sure you would get a really good education there.

i live in old town, which is south east of lincoln park, and i like it, but not as much as i like wicker park, ukranian village (which is a little ghetto) or the west loop. i lived in lincoln park for 4 years and didnt like it at all.. frat boys and shot bars that smell like pee.. well its right between wrigley field (cubs fans) and depaul (college kids) so what do you expect? if i were to go to rush i would definitely live on the near west side. it would be a very easy commute and you are right by the coolest areas, like fulton market. im a foodie, and there is a really high concentration of awesome restaurants and bars there (publican, girl&goat, province, sepia etc. etc.). i would just find a place off of the blue line or pink/green line and you are set. my friends that go to rush either live in the west loop or wicker park, and they all say that its super easy to get to class.

and although i dont drive, i doubt you would be able to get from lincoln park to rush in 10-12 minutes. my boyfriend used to commute from lincoln park to UIC (undergrad campus) and it easily took him 30 minutes to over an hour during rush hour. halsted st. gets really backed up south of division. but again, ive never timed the drive from LP to rush, so take it fwiw.

Well I was referring to living near a Lakeshore on ramp and going to I-290 from lakeshore, with NO traffic.. With traffic is a different story.

I live in Lincoln Park now (over by DePaul--armitage and sheffield) and I work at Rush. It takes under 20 minutes (driving) to get to rush, but you have to avoid the highways if it's anywhere near rush hour or it will take longer. I just take ashland all the way down. Ive also lived in wicker park and it is really convenient to get to rush from there (under 10).

As far as lincoln park, there are definitely some areas that have lots of bars and are full of college kids. I live on a quiet street with lots of families and don't really find that, but it just depends on the area.
