Where do we go for the background check? I called admissions and was transferred to a woman in the registrar's office who gave me a cryptic web address that did not work. 🙁

Matches are posted at midnight. If you have a school on there it is your match.

So far only TT pre-matched people seem to have been notified of match. I haven't heard of anyone from Lubbock getting a true match. Go find out whats going on Agg! lol

Nope... a little depressing too, well actually a lot depressing :scared:... I really liked this school and hoped to possibly be here.
I don't know of anyone who hasn't prematched here that has matched, but there has to be some... I know they were taking a lot via prematch, so maybe they are transitioning over to A&M's style and filling most of the class that way. 😕

I don't think so. If that was the case, our class would be approximately 20-30 students. Have faith, friend!

Oh, trust me, I'm definitely trying to keep the faith... lol. :xf:
I just remember when I interviewed they said that they had already given out a few hundred acceptances.

I can't, I'm snowed in! lol - not really, but it is freezing here. Windchill of Negative 11!! They wouldn't tell me anything anyway. 😉

It is definitely possible more people chose to accept their pre-match offers this year and less were accepted via match. There's no way to tell. Don't hesitate to shoot emails to the Admissions office, they don't mind answering questions.

Not sure where you got that number...😕 There are almost definitely more people who accepted their pre-match here than that.
 
Ahhh this sucks! Lubbock was my #1 on tmdsas! do they tell you whether you're waitlisted or outright rejected?

Haha sorry, I don't know where I got that number either.. 🙁 maybe I was trying to make myself feel better.. I wanted my friend to match here also.

Im wondering this as well. How do we find out about waitlists and or rejections?
 
Rolling Admissions Session 2 (TTUHSC) February 2 - mid August, 2011

Sometime after the Match, the Director and Associate Dean of Admissions will formulate an official “alternate list” of ranked, interviewed applicants that have not been selected by another school during the rolling admission session or in the February 1st match. In the event that an accepted applicant leaves his/her seat, an applicant from the alternate list will be selected and an offer will be made. This process is generally very slow and unpredictable. The ranking assigned to applicants for Match purposes no longer exists for the alternate list. Applicants may be selected from the alternate list up until orientation at TTUHSC SOM begins.

Hey guys, I too got some info about the waitlist. I called the admissions office and they told me that there won't be a list out until March 1-15... that will also be when rejection letters are sent too, I believe. Looks like we're all in for a longer wait.
Also, in the quote above me, if I understand this correctly, will we not be put on the alternate list if we matched somewhere else although Tech was ranked higher than that school?? I though TMDSAS' website said that we can be waitlisted at schools that we ranked higher than the one we matched at, just not below.
 
Ape, don't worry. unless things have changed since I applied (which i don't think they have) you can be on the waitlist at one school that you ranked higher while still holding onto your acceptance at the school you matched to. I was on a waitlist for one school while i kept my acceptance at a different one. Up until june 15th i think. at that point you have to commit to the school you are holding an acceptance at or risk everything to stay on the waitlist of your higher up school (which would be a dumb move).

When it says "interviewed applicants that have not been selected by another school" i'm pretty sure it is referring to applicants that were accepted to another school that they ranked higher. (because then it would be silly to put them on the waitlist because they wouldn't accept the seat) Best of luck.

I ranked Tech #1, but didn't match. I want to write up a LOI and send it to them, but would it be wise to send it now, or after the waiting list actually comes out (to see if I actually made it on there)?

Congrats to everyone who matched here or anywhere for that matter! 🙂

Yeah, I didn't match either. That's a tough question you have though. If you felt confident in your application and think you barely missed out, then you could wait until after the waitlist comes out. Otherwise you might want to help make sure you make the waitlist by sending a letter. I wish they would just hurry up with that list, it can't be that hard to make one.

I called and asked when it would come out. I was told February 15

Word is almost the entire class was filled via pre-match offers this year. Actually, I was told (by someone very close to the admissions decisions) the entire class was filled through pre-match offers, but I know of one person who matched, so there probably a few (less than 5) lucky ones who got accepted Feb. 1. Apparently we had way less people turn their pre-match offers down this year.

Sorry to you guys who didn't match in. This is definitely not the way it's been over the past few application years. However, it is more than likely at least a couple will move in from the wait list. It didn't seem like the class was overfilled (which at this point last year it was), so hopefully there will be a little movement for y'all. Best of luck!
 
yeah... I had a feeling that most of it was taken up via prematch... sad sad day. 🙁 It looks like it was like that across the board this year... I only know of a few people matching to UTMB that didn't already have a prematch there, but everyone else I know, including myself, matched to where they prematched.
I hope there is movement, I love where I'm matched, but I also love Tech. However, with this A&M fiasco I'm not too sure about any movement anywhere... dang, I think we are all locked in for the most part.
Since A&M and Tech were both expanding their class sizes this year, maybe that's why they got all their class through match... they overestimated (in A&Ms case) but also got it just right (Tech's case) in the amount of prematches.
Oh well.

Good luck to all of those of you who ranked Tech #1 and are waiting to get in off the waitlist. Like many others have said, the waitlists usually move quite a bit!
 
Tech: Every interaction I have with you makes me dislike you more and more and more. I chose not to complete your secondary, yet what do I get in the mail today? A rejection letter stating that I was complete but not qualified . Tsk tsk Tech... Whatever makes you feel better...

So uh, why'd you check the box on TMDSAS to apply? And spend the money to apply? And why did you waste your time and our time coming here to post something pointless? It's obvious "how little you care."

There's really no reason to come announce to people who have nothing to do with admissions how much you "dislike" Tech. The people who post here are not the school, they are the students, future students or hopeful students and they couldn't care an ounce less if you do or don't care for the school.

So, if you're truly that upset about something and want to "tsk" to someone, man-up and call admissions and do it there instead of hiding behind a computer screen with your holier-than-though attitude.

Just FYI: An email from the TTUHSC SOM Lubbock Admissions Office indicated that this year a vast majority of the seats were filled up via pre-matches (isn't that right A&M 😉) and very few during the match.
