Man.. I called most of the schools I applied to 2 days ago and none of them had any aadsas apps then. What makes me happy is that U Buffalo sent notifications, meaning they got at least electronic copy of the app.

So for all of us whose status got changed to 07/02: if it is true that they have mailed hard copies that day we should expect hearing from at least some schools tomorrow at the earliest but most likely next week and the week after. Let others know when you hear anything from any schools in the other thread ("Anyone heard from dental schools yet?") please 😀.

If we don't hear anything that means AADSAS is messing around again.

I sure hope so, but if you don't hear from schools, it's not necessarily the fault of AADSAS. For example, I was looking at Maryland's website last night and they specifically stated that you won't hear from them until late summer b/c they are still finishing up with the 2008 cycle and need a "well deserved vacation". It also states they don't begin sending out interview invitations until late Aug/ early Sept. I know that people will still be blaming AADSAS though, I'm just glad they sent out my application in the first batch.

That's why I said "at least some". I just need 1 email from 1 school and that way I will know that hard copy has been sent by AADSAS (assuming aadsas sent the app to all schools at once, I will know that other schools have probably received the app too). Only half of the schools I am applying to told me that they will shoot me an email as soon as they receive/process the app. I think until the end of next week is a reasonable time period.
 
That explains why Maryland hasn't cashed my check yet.

Zubnaya Feya, you are probably right in that we won't hear from most schools until next week or the week after. Plus I think the 4th of July week/weekend schools probably didn't do much and probably just started reviewing apps this past Monday.
 
My application has been mailed out by AADSAS last week, however I am still waiting for my current school to finish with my committee letter and mail to AADSAS ... its been a freakin month since I turned in all my letters to them.. idk why its taking them this long.. Will this screw my chances up????? Please reply!!
 
I submitted my app a couple weeks ago and last night I saw online that my status for my apps being sent out changed to 7/8. This morning I checked and the date somehow changed to 7/17.


Basically AADSAS first sends out your app electronically to all the schools you requested, then they state a date that your app will be sent through the mail to all the schools you requested. So basically each school you apply to gets an electronic as well as a hard copy of your application.



The lady I spoke to told me they send an electronic copy first and then the hard copy later, but I (the applicant) should contact each school to make sure they got at least 1 of them because not all schools participate in the status update for AADSAS. I'm actually going to call each of the schools I applied to tomorrow.
 
Do schools wait to receive the hard-copy before reviewing our apps, anyone know?

I think it depends on the school but for the majority i assume they require to have the hard copy when reviewing your application. the online copy is to let schools know you're ready to complete the secondary application and/or the fees. I'm hoping to hear from schools within the next couple of weeks. this process is just The beginning of the many more months of waiting to come. My advice is to preoccupy yourself with something fun and enjoy your summer! soon enough you'll be receiving those phone calls for interviews! in the meantime go drifting down a river or something! 🙂

Ya I thinking about actually STUDYING for summer school and planning my trip to Vegas with my buddies, and probably watching a whole lot of Entourage and going to the gym....sounds like a hard summer man:laugh:

Here is a copy of my email to them. They did personally call me and email me, but Jared didn't seem too phased by it all and actually seemed annoyed by my concern. He told me that it would by mailed out by Monday at the latest and that he would "personally call me" if it wasn't-not sure how that would help but whatever. I agree that we should contact the better business bureau. True, maybe our chances for interviews won't be affected, but it's the principle of the matter. As customers we deserve straight answers and this process should be done in a fair, efficient manner. Life isn't always fair, no, but we have paid good money for their service. It's not like it's the first year that they have been doing this.

That is just my 10 cents.

I am writing in regards to my application status. I e-submitted on 6/7/09 and received an email on 6/15/09 to inform me that my application was complete and would be sent out in the next mailing. I was initially very pleased with the speed and quick processing of my application materials. I called to see when the first mailing would be and I was informed that they were unsure, that it would probably be sometime in July.

I browse studentdoctornetwork from time to time and on Tuesday, 7/7/07 was looking through posts and saw that there had been a mailing on 6/29/09. I checked my application status and it said that mine had still not been mailed. I called AADSAS and they said that they had to limit the number that they sent out in the first mailing, but mine would be in the second mailing which would be in the next week or two. Right after I hung up the phone, people starting posting to this website saying that theirs had been sent in a second mailing on 7/7/09. I called AADSAS back and said that I had not been included in the first mailing, they checked my profile to make sure that everything was OK, which it was, and they said that I would be sent out in the next mailing. I informed them that I had also missed the next mailing because it had occurred that day. The woman then told me that I would be in the next mailing. But what assurance should I have in this, when I was told that I would be in the first mailing, then the second and wasn't in either?

I know that students that were verified as late as 7/2 were mailed out in the second mailing. I could be understanding if there was a limit on the number of students that could be sent out in one mailing, if this was done fairly. Applications should have been sent out in the order that they were verified. I worked very hard to submit my application as early as possible to be in the first batch of applications sent out. I am paying AADSAS for a service, and as they have a monopoly on this, I have no other option. When I have contacted AADSAS I have gotten the run around and no one has given me a straight answer. I am deeply dissapointed in the operation of this service and in the customer service of AADSAS. I am considering contacting the Better Business Bureau and other organizations if this is not solved immediately.

For what it's worth, I was talking to admissions at UNLV this morning and said "you guys should have everything except my AADSAS, which they said was mailed out yesterday" (because I figured it was a hard copy and would take a few days to get there) and the admissions lady said "no, they lied, they don't really mail out AADSAS apps until about the 3rd week of July and we get one HUGE batch all at once". This seems to indicate to me that everyone that has supposedly been "mailed" will have a hard copy sent out together in mid-July and that UNLV doesn't even care about having an electronic copy available.

i just read someone's post about how he or she submitted the app on 6/7 and it barely says mailing date is 7/17.

I am in the exact same boat. I submitted mine on 6/8. Got verified 6/12 and app says will be mailed 7/17.

I dont get this at all. It is absolutely not fair and I feel really helpless not being able to do much about it. I just hope it actually gets mailed on 7/17.:xf::xf::xf::xf:
 
Just a reminder is that if you submitted on JUNE first but take the DAT in August is that same as submitted in the July

Yeah, that's a great idea! Then when people are exploring their options, trying to decide which application service to use to apply for dental school, they can do their research on the BBB website and see how much AADSAS sucks. Then, they'll know not to use AADSAS and will instead take their business over to the top competitor in the dental school application business😕 Oh wait... if you want to apply to dental school, you don't have a freaking choice. AADSAS doesn't give a crap about BBB complaints, it will not affect their business AT ALL because they have a freaking monopoly. Try again.
 
Yeah..complaining to the BBB is not going to help people one bit right NOW.

OH yeah I didn't even think of that, so stupid of me!!

Because complaining to them is only going to fix the problem for NEXT year.....and we all know that this is our last time dealing with them since we are all going to get into at least one dental school......right.

As I said earlier, followers can sit at their computers and rant about their problems and the leaders can actually TRY to remedy the problem. No one is stopping you from venting off on a public forum, but do not discourage others who are actually TRYing to bring change.

Worse comes to worst, at least ADA will become aware of the problem. You really think, going insane over the phone with the customer rep is going to get ADA's attention....think again! give it another minute or two and think some more because obviously you don't get it.

Complaining is not going to fix anything at all. What motivation do they have to change?? Ok, so AADSAS gets a boatload of complaints to reps on the phone and through BBB and are made aware of the problem, but guess what? They still don't care. Why would they fix anything? They could have the crappiest customer service in the world, they could just scream obsenities and hang up when you call them, and it would not affect their income AT ALL. Anyone who wants to apply to d school doesn't have a choice so they get our business anyway. And no, I don't think going insane on the phone is going to do anything to fix it, it just makes me feel a hell of a lot better.
 
Lets just agree that the service at drive thru of Mcdonald's is hell of a lot better than AADSAS and be friends.🙂

In fact, Mcdonald's places your order even if you rap it to them.

If it's random then it's possible this could happen if they're limited to 1000 each batch - by this time, more and more applications are submitted.

Submitted June 15, verified June 19, not mailed yet 😡

It's pretty stupid that they randomly chose applications for mailing instead of doing them in order - but this doesn't suprise me.

If you are as tired as I am of dealing with AADSAS customer service, try giving Liaison International a call. They are the ones who actually handle the applications. Here is their website: http://www.liaison-intl.com/clients/index.html

Also, my mailing status was changed to 07.17.09 from 07.08.09 for what it is worth. It's mighty deflating that some applicants are already getting interview invites while others who applied earlier still have not gotten their applications mailed.

That probably just indicates that your electronic copy was made available on 7/8 and that your paper copy will be sent out 7/17, so your application wasn't really delayed, although I too would be frustrated if my app wasn't mailed out in the first batch.

Hi GTP, were Liasison able to help you with your app or provide any explanation for this delayed mailing?
 
Not so much. The "developers" were blamed for the random pool of the first two mailings. I wasn't able to get any blockbuster information, but it was refreshing to speak to someone who didn't talk to me like answering my questions was a bother to them.

07/17 is the next batch. It should say on your aadsas status page.
 
hmmm my status still says "not mailed" and I was verified by 7/8/09.
 
I was verified early last week and got an email saying it'll be sent out in the next mailing date. My status still says "Not Mailed," so I'm assuming tomorrow's not going to be the day, either. Maybe in August, then?
 
e-submitted on sunday and verified today. where does it state the mailing date? all i see is a message that im in "the next mailing"

also..which GPA is looked at (there is the science, BCP) when people say state their sGPA. and then there is the +/- and without +/- for each of those GPAs...but out +/- is the one used, correct? thanks!

I heard the 27th of July is the next mailings.
 
Hm.. was something supposed to change or be updated under my school designation section? It says Mailing Date: July 17, 2009... but I can't tell if they actually sent my app out on that date.. do i just wait until the school notifies me? 😕

Ya I checked my app today and it says the mailing date is 7/17, and I know they electronically sent it out on 7/8, but next to the mailing date it doesn't say anything. I wonder when I'll actually hear back from any of the schools about my app. I was reading on some other threads that the electronic copy just tells the schools that you've sent your app. They don't actually notify you that they got your app until they get the hard copy, but who knows...

My mailing status is blank but the date is 7/17 and I just got an email from Louisville for an app. fee so apparently they did go out.
