I'm confused; I thought they were skipping the "LOR Received" step this year? I just got the "LOR Received" e-mail but I submitted my Fee on 6/21 and my LOR on 7/01. It doesn't look like the people who already received II ever got the "LOR Received" message.

You're right. I received an II without getting the LOR received email. Weird...
 
Now I'm worried they sent us all an LOR received message when they meant to send us a rejection e-mail 🙁

I don't think so - i believe that they started sending these letters now. Im sure some of us will get interviews while the rest get....rejected. I don't think LOR recieved message is a bad sign

Hmmm I still havent gotten a LOR received LOR request 7/1.....So this is probably a good sign for one of us?
 
i propose an initial sort based on the primary only, even without letters, though they were requested so they'd be in hand. for group1 mayo said "letters schmetters, we're going to give this person an invite unless a LOR says he kicks puppies" so they only skim the LORs if that. group1 gets interviews. the rests of us get sorted into rough groups, 2-N.

maybe once the magical people get interviews they're going thru the rest of the groups, telling each group they're under review and their LORs are processed.

or, i could be making all that up (i am, after all). maybe they just send out the email for LORs received in chunks all about the same time, and the interview folk just preceded that time. either way.

Oh, so that first group was like an auto-invite? Lucky them 🙂
 
i had all my info in with the 1st group lor request 7/1 and have not heard back since.......

according to my random predictions 🙂

seriously tho wouldn't be shocking. i wouldn't be surprised if someone skimmed their letters if they had access just to be sure of the lack of puppy kicking, but they can obviously tell plenty from the primary, enough that they don't feel the need to ask for supplemental essays.

I take the e-mail confirmation that I got as basically saying...we have all your stuff and it continues to underwhelm us to the point where we need more time to look at your app...

That way any positive news will be a pleasant surprise.

I also just got an LOR received email today. I got an LOR request email on 7/22 and submitted mine to AMCAS on that day (I didn't want to do it earlier in case I jinxed myself- yes, I'm a bit superstitious).
This inconsistency (people who received II never got a letter and even now some of us haven't and some have) makes me nervous only because Mayo seems to be meticulous in every other way.

I'm not going to even try to speculate on this situation ,which has left me super befuddled. But for what it's worth, I have not received a "LOR Received" e-mail (LOR Request 7/6)
 
LOR received email today. LOR request 07/01. I woke up this morning with that email and thought it was a rejection.
 
I haven't received a LOR request yet. I paid the secondary fee 6/21. That's as good as a rejection so far, right?

I'm in the same boat. Based on what people have reported the content of the LOR received e-mail to be, it sounds like they are still in the running though. Really not sure what that says for us folk who haven't received one...😕 I feel like the admissions process has left me more bewildered than frustrated.

Yeah at this point, I'm not even gonna try and figure out what the process is and if they have some subliminal messages with their emails, etc. Just sit and wait.
 
I don't think the LOR received message is indicative of anything. They most likely just sent that message to the applicants that are in queue and have not been reviewed yet. For those that didn't receive that message, your file is probably in circulation and being reviewed.

Like most schools, if your application is not rejected, it will remain open and the committee will review it again. Remember, it all depends on who is reading it and/or how they are feeling that day.

I got a rejection like 2 weeks ago. Submitted my application June 1st, 34 MCAT, 3.83 GPA, but no research to speak of, and I guess no impressive community service or healthcare experience to speak of. No LOR request beforehand. boo.🙁

I thought I was done for - I expected a rejection after being passed over the first round! holy crap, I'm speechless.

EDIT: Open days are Sept. 9, 16, 19, 23. Still deciding whether Minneapolis or Rochester is cheaper.

Thanks! It seems futile now to even guess what's coming next, when it's too late, when it's expected. If it's going to happen, it will. There's always hope until you get the rejection.

Thanks! I'm composing my sonnet as we speak.

About 250-300 are interviewed, ~72 are accepted which includes the waitlist.

What will happen is this: the committee that decides interviews meets fortnightly and rank interviewees, 1-5, 5 being strongest. You get an email saying that you've been ranked, but you don't know what it is. Then on Oct 15 (though it might be the 17th this year because the 15th falls on Saturday) they'll send out the first round of acceptances, and then every two weeks after that.

The vast majority of acceptances come early, October and November. As soon as the class fills up, that's it.

It's not over until you get the rejection. It's not looking good, but that's what I thought, too. Just keep your hopes up.

Ditto except 7/6. I think you sum it up best when you say it's a roller coaster. I guess all we can do is stay on it until its over, but I definitely feel your frustration.

RE-EDIT: Flying into Minneapolis at 2:25 on Thurs 8th, departing at 6:10 PM on Friday. I'll be missing a-LOT of class, but it's going to be the first day of classes, so I'm not missing anything.
