Interview Invite!! 😀

Fee received email 6/22, LOR request 7/6

But i've also heard mayo is not shy about giving out early rejections, so maybe the rest of us don't have to worry just yet. It ain't over til its over.

ah yes so it has been confirmed with the lack of an interview invite (NO rejection email..yet). looks like i wont be able to experience the chance of interviewing at mayo. i had an extremely rough day, and this really puts me over the edge. just gotta keep swimmin'

the rest of you, have fun and best of luck.

I fear that it is. I was in the first batch of LOR invites, and am not for the interviews. C'est la vie, non?

Same, but I'm not ready to give up just yet. Definitely wouldn't be surprised to wake up to a rejection email, but until I do, I'm gonna continue to hope and follow this thread obsessively.

It really isn't over till it's over. I was in the first batch of fee received emails, but not the first batch of LOR requests. I looked back at last year's thread and found that people in that situation usually ended up rejected pre LOR request. I freaked out and was convinced that I was rejected. But I got a LOR request a few days later.

Oh well, let's see when the rejection letters start to go out...

Interview invite! Verified 6/1, LOR request 7/1. And now I can't sleep.

Anyone from the 7/9 LOR group get an interview?

Wow, an invite! Now I just have to figure out whether nonstop flights will be less insane for a Monday or Friday interview. :scared:

Nothing here. Really bummed, but that's the way it goes. I'm not expecting anything now other than a rejection.

Congratulations to everyone who has an invite. Best of luck. 🙂

Does anyone have an idea how often Mayo will send out interview invites? Will it be once a week?

i think it's once/week from looking at last year.
nothing here either but i was LOR request a bit later (7/22) so i'm gonna hang on for another week or two.

One of my letter writers has still not submitted to AMCAS...do you think Mayo is waiting for this letter to come in? Or is the lack of an interview invite a signal for rejection?

EDIT: The letter is one of five and not from a science faculty member. I guess it could be considered supplemental, not required.

alas, nothing here...LOR Request 7/6.

not totally giving up hope yet, but doesn't look super promising. This admissions process has taught me to be patient....it was either that or hypertension, so I chose the former.

Sigh...+1

I guess im not that surprised, while my ECs and MCAT were pretty decent, my gpa left a fair bit to be desired. I was actually a bit surprised to even get the LOR request in the first place.

Looks like none of the regulars received II. Does Mayo have no heart? Snuke and others wrote dozens of poems.

Congrats to everyone who received the small portion of red in this school's cold, black heart.

Keep our hopes up! Up till now, it seems that only 3 ppl on SDN have received an II.

Received an invitation. Very excited! 😀

Congrats to all those who got invites!

Any 7/13 LOR requests get invites?

Congrats to all of you with interview invites 👍 Do you receive LOR request if you have already assigned letters to amcas, or do they just access the letters if they want to?? I submitted few days ago.

yes, you receive a request if they want your letters even if amcas already has them assigned. not everyone gets a request.

Interview Invite!

LOR Request: 7/1
Interview Invite: 7/30

Got an interview invite!!! 😀 So happy to be visiting this school very soon!

So are they going to start sending rejections with the interview invites?

Interview invite! 9/12
LOR Request July 1st, AMCAS submission June 7th.

I'm looking at everyone's stats and psyching myself out a bit. As with most schools, once you receive an interview it's pretty safe to assume that you are "qualified" for the school, and you're interviewing to see if you would be a good fit.

Anyone know how the interview day will look?

The rating on this thread has plummeted! Who's hatin?

So am I right in thinking that all the interview invites from last night were people who got LOR requests on 7/1? Or is that just wishful thinking?

I got my LOR request 7/9, so hopefully I'm not a lost cause... Do they send more interview invites each week/two weeks or something like that?

I got my LOR on 7/1 but forgot to add the letters of Mayo until 2 weeks later so it could be a matter of time before we hear something

Looks like at least one person from 7/6 got an interview invite

No . . . sadly, doesn't look that way. Someone above said they received their LOR request 07/06 . . .

It does, however, seem that many of the folks receiving interviews are in the 07/01 group. Personally, I am not in the 07/01 group (some days after), so I am not holding out hope for here.

Edit: Mayo does do things in batches . . . so, perhaps one proton in me is holding out hope that maybe my number will come up during the next week.

Personally, I'd stick my hope in the electron... because negative charges move from low to high potential! OH SNAP 😆

I was going with the positively charged particle for the one shred of optimism in me that remains.

Doing this application thing twice, though, you don't get excited/surprised about much anymore, good or bad, because you've been beaten down so many times by this process for so many different reasons.

Isn't that fun how positivity can be seen in two different ways? Glass half-full thinking, my friend 😀

You can do it! We're all in this together. Even though I'm a first time applicant, I'd like to think we're all valuable and qualified applicants. Just the waiting game sucks. :luck::luck::luck::luck::luck:

I got the LOR request on 7/1 and still haven't heard anything, does that mean I missed the first "wave of invites" or are people hearing sporadically throughout the days?

You know, I haven't received an interview but I will say if I'm out, atleast I know my primary app was strong enough (corroborated by Vanderbilt). Now I'm freaking out about my letters, because I thought they were all excellent. 😕

Me, too. I have an interview at Irvine . . . but now, I'm wondering if Irvine is a school that reviews LORs after the interview, and my LORs have indeed tanked me here.

I'm sure your fine - Vandy is a great school. Your letters can't be THAT bad anyways...

Anyone at all have any travel hints for this interview? I didn't see any information in the email invite...will they send it later after I schedule? Thanks for any help! 😳

It seems like the main options are either flying directly into the Rochester airport or flying into Minneapolis and taking the Mayo Clinic shuttle (http://www.gorochesterdirect.com). For me, at least, the first option is cheaper. But I think for most people the second option costs less. Make sure if you do decide to take the shuttle that you have enough time to catch your flight, and that your flight into Minneapolis doesn´t get in after 10pm (last shuttle to Mayo is at 10:30 pm).

I'm going with the second option, which is quite a bit cheaper for me.
