Yeah, I guess it all depends on what airlines your home city is a hub for - it seems like American and Delta are the only two airlines that fly to Rochester. Another option to consider if you fly into Minneapolis is renting a car. Depending on your flight times, it might be more convenient and comparable in price to the shuttle ($55).
 
I was confused about travel as well. I am flying into Rochester the night before my interview and flying out at around 5:30pm on the day of my interview. I google-mapped it and it looks like the airport is about 20-something minutes away from MMS, so I figured that if the interview day ends at 3:00, I should be able to get to the airport at least by 3:45 or so, which would give me plenty of time to catch the flight.

I considered flying in/out of Minneapolis, but I didn't find a flight out that was late enough that I felt comfortable getting all the way to the airport and being able to make the flight on the same day as the interview.

Also, I know that they had student hosting last year, but only for the night before the interview. I'm hoping they have it this year too. That's why I am flying out the day of the interview so that I don't have to stay in a hotel.

I'm looking at everyone's stats and psyching myself out a bit. As with most schools, once you receive an interview it's pretty safe to assume that you are "qualified" for the school, and you're interviewing to see if you would be a good fit.

Just to clarify, I don't think it's right to say that most schools adopt the philosophy about interviews. Mayo is unique in that regard.

As far as the interview day, last year I think it started around 8 and finished in the afternoon. There's a presentation and then down time for interviews. I had two interviews... everyone will have different times so you'll probably be coming in and out. At some point everyone will be done with interviews and you'll be provided with lunch ans a couple of presentations.

Again, this is all based on last year's process, which may or may not be the same this year, and I may have misremembered some stuff, but I'm pretty sure that's right.

Same here for the first part. But for the second part, it may not happen easily. Last year, I received the long-waited rejection letter at the very end of their application cycle.🙁

I got my LOR request on 7/9 and have not heard anything since then. I'm not sure if this is a 'no news is good news' situation or not... 😕

Hmmmm . . .

I'd like to see (besides one poster of which we know) how many people from the 07/06 LOR request date have received interviews . . .

It's intriguing to see that only one person has . . . but, perhaps that means they just didn't like all of us from that date :laugh:.

Yes, precisely.

Edit: Because, yes, again, it seems that the majority (95 percent, or so, of the people who post here) have received IIs received their LOR request on 07/01.

You guys are crazy. Is there really a point in flooding this thread with this "data"? If anything, one person should just keep updating a single post after taking PMs.

There's nothing wrong with more data, but why make this thread "AMCAS Verification" esque?

Just have one person who seems to care a ton edit a single post, instead of flooding post after post of the same data. It seems pointless to me, it isn't going to contribute anything but increasing neuroticism.

If you're going to get an invite from Mayo, you will. If its not meant to be, looking at data is not going to help you.

+1. It'd be awesome if you all could avoid continuing the "flood" of status updates. I like to be subscribed to this thread to be responsive to questions but when I get 20 emails in one morning it's a little over the top. 😱

Request was on 7/1, but my last letter was sent to AMCAS only on 7/12.

I got a LOR Received email too and it stated my application is in the final stages of review to determine whether or not I will receive an interview...keeping my fingers crossed!!!

My LOR email was on 7/9.
 
Interestingly...today I got a LOR received e-mail. I'm not sure why they just got them as all my other schools got them a while ago.

It goes on to say...

"Your application is in the final review stage where it will be determined if you will be invited for an onsite interview. You will be notified as soon as the review is completed. This review can take up to three weeks. "

Just thought I'd share.
