I'll be at mayo next week. I feel truly honored to be considered by mayo. There is some part of my that thinks they made a mistake. It will be an experience of a lifetime to receive a sneak peak into Mayo. Congrats to those accepted, stay patient to those on hold, sorry to those with unfortunate news and best of luck to those waiting.

Good luck! Just try to relax, be yourself, and enjoy the experience! Mayo really is quite astounding.

One of your interviewers probably missed the meeting, but you have next week as a possibility. If you get ranked next Tuesday, you're still in the pool for the decision the week after.
 
Hey guys how did you confrim your spot in the class? It says to do it in writing, so I guess they want a handwritten letter with the money. Do you think we could just write an email and send the money later?

Congrats on everybody accepted and if you are still waiting keep the hope alive!:luck:

So, if no contact has been made by Mayo yet other than to say the fee waiver was received, does this mean rejection?

Nope. You're not rejected until they tell you, and they will tell you.

Erm, if Mayo interviews only until December, then not having even the LOR request yet definitely doesn't point to good news, right? Also considering that it takes 3-weeks to a month for each stage after the LOR request...

(I'm in the same boat, btw)

Not saying that it's good news, just that it's not a definite 'no.' There is a MS1 right now who applied on the last possible day. So, to clarify, I wouldn't get your hopes up, but it's not impossible to make it through to the next stage.

I wrote something along lines of "Dear Mayo, I accept the appointment to MMS entering class of 2012. Here is $100. I <3 you. --CloverHoney."

Lol, I don't think they'll care either way. Anxious to see what nice snail mail package they send us though 👍

Thanks! Right now I'm crossing my fingers for me and all of my friends. Too bad it sounds like you're going to take your spot. 😉 There are so many neat and awesome people here alone, I don't know how Mayo even decides who to take!
 
Does anybody know how Mayo feels about letters of interest after being put on hold?

BTW, when does Rochester get their first snowfall? It's getting chillier up there - maybe Slev could give a perspective on this.

For all that have interviewed, are the interviews before or after lunch? Just wondering if I should have a purse with things to freshen up before interviews. Thanks!

I had one in the morning and another after lunch. I think this was the case for most people
 
I had one interview with a faculty member before lunch and one interview with a student after lunch.

It is now exactly 6 weeks since I received my LOR received email. I know looking back that some people received interviews after waiting around this time, and I'm operating under no news is good news, but I wanted to see if I should call and just check in on my status, seeing as I heard they only interview through December. Thoughts?

I got the LOR on 7/1 and it wasn't until 8/24 that I got the interview invite. You should probably wait another week to two weeks. Then maybe give them a call.
 
Anybody going to be up there next Friday? I can give people a ride back to airports if they need, I'm coming from the chicago area.

Also, if one of the med students see this...there's a possibility I might need to stay Friday night in addition to Thursday...if anybody can host me an extra night, I'd gladly pay for dinner or whatever to break even with you 🙂

Contact the student hosts - they'll help you. I had to stay two nights, and my hosts were totally cool with it.

Thanks for being so helpful so far guys! Another quick question: So I started a master's program this year which I hope to finish this year. Do you guys know if Mayo actually requires that I finish the Master's program before I can matriculate? I know some schools don't allow you unless you finish the current program you are in. Anybody know Mayo's policy? thanks again!
