You could contact the office, but they'd probably tell you to sit tight. The general timeline between fee request and LOR request was about three weeks earlier (though I don't know what it is now, if anyone could chime in), so you're just a little past that. You could call and ask, and show your continued interest, but they're probably just busy. Of course, you'd be happier with the LOR request, but you're not out of it yet.

I know that some schools do not read the LORs thoroughly (or less so if there are many LOR as compared to a few), but Mayo really takes them into consideration, especially to get the interview. If they are all strong letters, I'd go ahead and submit them so long as they will not make you late.

I just called Gina. They said that since this is nearly the end of the process, there are VERY few interview spots left. They haven't seen some of the applications that they received after Oct 15th. She said within the week, but probably not this week, they should be sending out some more invites. She said it's probably next week, possibly even the week after. In addition, she said that since there are so few interview spots left, the committee is really debating who to give the interviews to.

That's all the information I have from the brief call. If anyone else wants to call and get more information, it'd be super appreciated. I don't want to call twice so soon and appear weird!
 
I submitted 4 letters if that helps.

Also everyone, heads up for the next round :woot: Only 12 people have been accepted, so we still have ~60 to go.

👍 Did you call for that information? If so, did Gina say anything about when the next round of calls may go out?

12 spots already? I thought it was only 3-4. How do you know its 12? I mean that was based only on like 3 groups of interviewees.
 
If I had known how compressed of an interview cycle Mayo has with rolling admissions, I would've picked an interview date that was two weeks earlier.

My AMCAS was verified Monday, 10/24/11 (yes I am applying very late). Mayo sent me an email confirming their receipt of my application Tuesday morning, I didn't have to send the fee due to the FAP. I received at LOR request at 12:37 am Wednesday. I would probably call them and make sure they didn't lose your application or something. It sounds like there aren't many interview spots left, so at this point I feel waiting it out may not be the best option.

LOR request today! I'm really surprised that I wasn't cut before getting to this point. Very thankful. Verified 9/16, fee submitted 9/17.

So based on what I've been reading, I will not be getting an "LOR Received" email, correct? 😕

My MCAT scores were in 9/1 and no LOR request or rejection. Is Gina nice over the phone?

Gina is super nice. But let's try to coordinate a calling schedule so that we're not all calling her to ask the same thing. But if you call and have new information for us, it would be very much appreciated!

You might, you might not. Most people did not get a 'received' email, including myself, and we could not figure out a rhyme or reason to why certain people received one.

I have an update for those of you who are stewing, perhaps not good news but atleast it's something 😉.

There are <30 interview slots remaining for the season and there are currently hundreds of applicants under review for those remaining slots. The exec admissions committee is being very thorough and meticulous in extending the remaining interview slots, and I wouldn't expect any movement on that front for atleast a week, perhaps more. Note that the only candidates under review for the remaining interview slots are those who have already submitted LORs following the LOR request from Mayo.

There have been 12 acceptances extended so far. The exec adcom is not meeting again until next week, and PERHAPS they will be extending additional acceptances at that time. If indeed that happens, phone calls would likely go out mid to late next week.

The adcom has commented that the quality of the applicant pool this year is extraordinarily excellent (and many of the members have been doing this for MANY years). Honestly don't get too discouraged if you aren't offered an interview or acceptance here. There are more than 100 applications for each seat in the class this year.

You said that there are still hundreds of applicants? Doesn't Mayo only sent out like 300-350 LOR requests? How is it possible that this late in the season, after doing interviews that they are still in the hundreds in terms of applicants to consider for interview slots?

I do agree that it's probably next week that they send out invites, I'm just not so sure we're talking about hundreds of applicants fighting for 30 spots.
 
Today, got both "LOR Request" and "LOR Received" emails. Made it into that last group!

I would trust wisco since he is a student at mayo, as far as I know. They send out 1600 LOR requests, so having hundreds of applicants left isn't farfetched. They offer 300 interviews in total, according to what other students posted.

Hey! I'm not sure if this is true for all, but for me I know I got my LOR request at 2am on Friday. It seems to me that they probably meet on thursdays and sent out the requests that night. When did you complete? I know they haven't even seen some applications yet.

Complete towards mid-late September. +pity+

And I'm superstitious so I've been putting mayo on my lunch sandwiches everyday even though I don't like mayonnaise and I would just like to know when I can stop doing this ok kthnxbye

So our best guesstimate for the next round of acceptances is Wed, Thurs or Fri? Sooo far away. I am really hoping beyond hope...I actually did a pretty good job of feigning disinterest and "oh, if i don't get in, i still have a good option so no big deal" up until about 2 days ago when I actually allowed myself to realize how much I want this. I'm going to be crushed :/

haha i feel ya on this. possibly getting ranked on tuesday, wondering if i will hear back this week about acceptance/hold or if it will be another 2 weeks. i don't mind waiting another 2 weeks because that just means i can be delusional and think i have a shot for just a little longer.

I admit, my anxiety over this week is lessened, but I rather suspect that's because it's spread out over a week and not acutely concentrated on one specific hour.

Calls could come any time... Does anyone know if the special time is still noon, or whenever they get around to it?

They called around 1:00 P.M. local time in Rochester. Adjust accordingly.

i know the acceptances for 2010 were 87, but does anyone know what the acceptances were for last year? specifically, MD only?
 
been quiet on this forum so far, but... oh mayo, i love you. i am a non-trad only applying md/phd with a low GPA and mediocre MCAT (for md/phd) but a high level of research. i've been hoping deep down in my heart that mayo would show me some love... unlike all those other research power houses... interview invite today!! 😍
