I wish, however I did log in at 6:30AM (half-asleep) when I realized that I hadn't received an email overnight just to make sure that no one else had, either.

This is why I love this thread. Constant entertainment. No where else can I lurk and expect to chuckle.
 
To all applying to other cool schools (I know, they are all cool), is Mayo your number one? What about Yale?
 
Yeah, I just don't know how to feel. If they're going through the applications randomly, then I guess I just keep getting reshuffled? Just not hearing anything while most everyone else either gets an LOR or a rejection in a week makes me sad.

I really really like the curriculum design here (who doesn't??). If I had an acceptance, it would take something absolutely incredible for me to turn it down.

But time to stop worrying. So now... Entertainment! From a French guy! Remi Gaillard is great:

And you can't do much about it but try not to perseverate about it, which is really difficult. The way to not perseverate is to watch amusing videos, like yours.

I saw French and was like, :eyebrow:

Then I saw the video and was like 🤣

It reminded me of another similar video, and I realized that my guy was the same as your guy.

All schools are cool. Mayo is definitely my first choice along with Hopkins. Then schools like Cornell, Yale, UVA (IS baby!), Emory, Vanderbilt. Though to be honest, I'm not quite sold on Yale and the no-grade policy. Don't preclinical grades matter a bit to residencies? Yale claims to not even rank internally.

Have you seen Yale's match list? There's really no cause for concern.

All of the top med schools have amazing match lists, or is there something more special about Yale's? It's certainly one of my top choices.
 
I hope this makes people feel better. I got a LOR request last night with a 3.55 gpa overall and a 31P MCAT so they are looking at more than your scores.

My stats are right there with yours, I just have a lot of other stuff going for me
 
They seem to like athletics, these Mayo people. Maybe the admissions committee is a bunch of jocks?

My source was the admissions coordinator who sends out the interview invites. She told the incoming class last week that the new admissions cycle is well underway and that the first interview invites would be going out this week.

I will tell you that my interview invite came last year at 1:40 A.M. on a Friday (albeit not in the first batch). My biggest piece of advice for Mayo (and other schools for that matter) is patience. You will drive yourself insane checking email and SDN neurotically. When it comes, it comes 😉!

Would that be Thursday night/Friday morning, or Friday night/Saturday morning? 😀

Has anyone who got an LOR request gotten a rejection? And do rejections of people with LOR requests come when get interveiws or at the end of the season?

So...last year the first invite was 7/31. However, last year they received LOR request confirmations...soooo yea...

It was a Thursday night.
 
So I went to bed early last night because I was tired, but my email made a noise at around 2am so I promptly got out of bed only to realize it was an automated message from Amazon. Rickrolled. 🙁

Yep, been there, unfortunately. And if I remember correctly (it was 2am after all) I think it was Amazon.

I feel the same way. I was complete almost as early as possible at most schools, and I've received no invites. I hope I'm somehow in the 'to be considered' pile and not the 'considered - rejected' pile.

Especially when people complete later than you have received invitations... including at your IS school known for favoring IS. I have noticed that many of the people receiving invites have higher stats (MCAT 36+), but not all of them. This entire process is frustrating, but I suppose we're learning valuable lessons in patience, even if they're a bit bitter to swallow.

That's what makes me feel even more scurred. My MCAT is higher than the average at most schools, so if that determines the order of review, I'm already screwed. My GPA isn't great, but I didn't think it would hold me back. Maybe my biceps are too big?
