Interviewed here today! The decision turnover is now 6-8 weeks according to the orientation.

So I know that the panel interview is closed file but what about the short individual interview? Do they have your AMCAS only, secondary or neither? Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure about the secondary, but my interviewer had definitely read my AMCAS. It's a very relaxed interview though --- the time just flew by.

Good to hear. Current student here. I was complete in mid-August last cycle, had virtually given up on FSM, got an interview invite mid-January, interviewed late January, then was accepted outright a week and a half later. If you're able to attend an interview, I'd highly recommend it. Best decision I ever made.

:luck:

THANK YOU for your encouraging words. I'm still playing the hopeful waiting game and I've been complete for awhile now!

Since the school is on break, is it a safe assumption we'll have to wait until January to hear back?

Whoa, that was fast as heck! Deferred decision until March via status page. I'm somewhat inclined to withdraw, but does anyone know if deferred applicants are ever offered insane scholarships or anything like that?

So far, the way I've felt about each interview corresponds very well with the decisions I've received.

Withdraw. I hear they double the tuition for those accepted after being deferred 😉

Deferred to March. 🙁

When did you guys interview?

I was under the impression that most people would have caught my sarcasm, so I am sorry. Tuition is the same for all. I was merely attempting to get the recently accepted to STANFORD applicant to withdraw from my top choice.

Sincerely,
Deferred, and very hopeful applicant.

Accepted via email out of the blue today! I thought I wouldn't hear anything until after the holidays, so this was a very pleasant surprise. I've been on eight interviews and Northwestern impressed me the most out of all of them. Great school. I interviewed on November 18th.

Deferred my acceptance for a year so that opens one spot up for you hopefuls!

Maybe you took my spot. I got my deferral acceptance around the same time!

ii this morning 🙂. So excited, definitely one of my top choice.
Complete 11/07. Good luck to eeryone still waiting

Anyone who stayed with one of the student housing hosts during their interview? How was it like? How would you compare that with staying at a hotel? Did they offer any kind of suggestions/tips during chatting? ...

Thanks!🙂

Stay with a student host, mine was really nice and offered some great tips for the interview. It's also nice to meet at student to get the inside scoop of the school's culture before meeting your interviewers. You might not get a queen sized bed and the privacy of a hotel, but you can really learn a lot more and feel confident going into your interviews (not to mention, you also save a lot of money). Trust me, you can't go wrong with staying with a current med student.

Wished I had read your post before booking the hotel..... care to share any tips or insider's info 😀?
Thanks

anyone know what days of the week northwestern interviews?

Hey Guys! I've been hearing a lot about sending in letters of intent. What is a letter of intent and what do they usually contain?
Thanks!

Letter of Intent usually signifies that you have extreme interest in a school (usually your top choice), and if accepted, you guarantee you would attend.

thanks! do you think it's ok to email or should it be an actual paper letter?

Does Northwestern do a 2nd look weekend? I don't remember hearing about it...but I figure there would be one. Anyone know about this?

Do you think it would be safe to assume that if we had been deferred to March, the same estimate of "50% accepted, 40% waitlisted, 10% rejected" holds? Or will it be more likely that a higher % of us will be waitlisted? I re-read Dean Wallce's note, and he says that he expects "many" of us to be accepted, but I don't know what my chances are :-/

I think that's the speculation on last year's thread because being deferred doesn't mean a "true" waitlist. Maybe you can call and ask for the rest of us? 🙂

Has anyone from Dec received a post-interview decision? Sadly it's 6 weeks for me today and I don't think that's a good sign..

I interviewed mid-December and haven't heard anything yet so I wouldn't worry. We were told 6 weeks was standard. Acceptances usually come on Tuesdays and deferrals on Wednesdays so you should probably hear early next week. :luck:

bummer. I was hoping to get some weight off my shoulders before the semester begins =\

Anyone still waiting to hear after submitting the secondary??

I submitted mine mid September and don't think this is looking good... 🙁

+1, on the timing and the waiting. arg.

Does anyone know if Northwestern losing Evanston Northwestern Healthcare (now NorthShore University Health System) as an affiliated hospital has impacted clinical education at Northwestern?

The class entering in 2009 was the first class to have their M3 years without that hospital to rotate at. I'm not sure if it would make any educational differences but I was just curious what measures, if any, were taken to try to compensate for the loss or if the university deemed it necessary to do so. Thanks!

Also, as an aside, do they have a second look?

I also submitted mid-September and am waiting to hear anything back. Let's hope for some late II!

anybody else that interviewed at the end of november still not hear back yet?

I am! Still waiting that is...in response to anyone still waiting for an II ? Complete in Sept.

Has anyone who has been accepted actually received anything in the mail? I ask because I recently moved and my address has changed. I updated them already, but I just wanted to make sure nothing with regards to financial aid, etc. has been mailed to us. Only notification was via email and application website, right?

Also, are any of you sending post-acceptance updates (jobs/volunteering)? Is that even necessary?

Thanks! And good luck to everyone still waiting :luck:

Well this sucks. I thought I had a good shot but I was just rejected pre-interview.
