Rejected by email about half an hour ago. Although in retrospect, this was one of the last secondaries I received and also one of the ones I put the least effort into.

I was officially rejected! Hahaha! Sorry, but I think it's funny that they waited so long and it's funny because they ASKED ME to apply there. At this point I wasn't even thinking about them, I actually forgot I applied there. Now I'm waiting for 3 more rejection emails from schools I haven't heard back from at all since I applied. Closure is nice. 🙂

rejected as well. I thought I was competitive at this school too. oh well, who knows what these medical schools are looking for exactly anyway? Good luck to the rest of you and congratulations for those who got in. :banghead::banghead:

The Northwestern dream unfortunately ends for me today too...rejected

Rejected, as well. Good luck to those still in the game.

i got deferred =( when in march do we find out?

I was curious about this too, so I just looked in last year's thread. It looks like decisions went out between early to mid March. From looking at the people who posted on SDN, I think there were three waves of decisions. People were accepted on March 2nd, wait listed on March 7th, and rejected on March 15th.

Rejected today. Good luck to everyone else still waiting for an acceptance! It has been quite a ride!:luck:

thanks for the info! FSM says they accept ~60% of the people they interview. so is SDN just skewed or did an awful lot of rejections go out in the last couple days?

Unclear if any of these rejections are post interview. They do seem to be deferring a lot of people.

Anyone rejected post interview?

Rejected! pre-interview. Good luck to everyone waiting for post-interview decisions

Rejected pre-interview. I knew it was coming, but the truth still hurts :/.

Interviewing tomorrow. Anyone else going to be there?

Hi annabanana!

I am interviewing at Northwestern soon as well. I was wondering if you could let me know how your experience was?

Also, to EVERYONE

How was the panel interview? This will be my first one of this type.

Thank you!
🙂

Three on three in a small conference room for mine. The questions tend to be of a non-traditional flavor (see SDN Interview Feedback for specifics), although there are some normal questions peppered throughout as well. Be prepared for questions related to other applicants' interests as well. They expect you to be on your feet in answering about areas you may not necessarily be familiar with. As for the group activity... ours was pretty fun? It was not difficult at all.

Do you mean interests that other applicants talk about during the panel interview?
Do they do it to see if we pay attention to what they are saying?
Or is it also to see if you know about the activities that they do, or if you have done something similar?

Yeah, I think that's absolutely correct. They want to make sure that (a) you're paying attention and (b) you can find a point of connection with someone with a different background. For example, my interview had someone with a non-traditional major, so the interviewers asked the other two interviewees about their exposure to that field and even related it to an ethical question in medicine.

Very interesting, thank you so much for your help! I appreciate it 🙂

This actually sounds really fun. On another note: hey, Northwestern? Where's my pre-interview rejection?

Hi Lizzie5987! My experience at Northwestern was amazing. I loved the school and the interviews were much less stressful than I anticipated! The panel interview wasn't awful and I felt like I really got to know my fellow interviewees! I hope you have as good of a day as I did!

Got the no-interview email yesterday, applied late August. Good luck everyone 🙂

Thank you annabanana! I look forward to enjoying my interview day 🙂

For me the group interview not so great. If felt like the other two students got pretty straightforward questions, but the ones I got were a little more difficult. I also got some negative attitude from one of the interviewers. There were two different panels though and the students who interviewed with the other one said that they had a better experience. Those that interviewed with mine all felt a little weird about it. I'm worried... I really love this school.

Does anyone know when the Northwestern second look weekend is?

hey guys, do you know if we need to send in fall transcripts?

So I finally got around to checking the previous 2 year's threads on Feinberg... It seems that those who were accepted in March were those who interviewed in Jan/Feb and never got the "deferred till march" letter to begin with. It seems that most were waitlisted or in some cases rejected. I'm getting a bit sad :-(

thanks anna. I'm just not sure if accepted people are required to send in transcripts :/

also, luckyducky, I wouldn't lose hope-- best of luck to you!

Don't lose hope! Others have said that Dr. Wallace plans to accept 25% straight up and another 25% after all interviews have been conducted. It also seems as though a larger proportion of interviewees have been deferred compared to past years. Maybe that's just a coincidence, but I like to think that gives us a great chance.

hmm? are we looking at the same thread here.. I glanced at last year's thread and there are people who said "accepted after being deferred" and the likes

Ooh I hope everything you say is true

hmm interesting. i thought last year's thread around march 1-2 had a lot of "accepted! i interviewed in late january (never got the deferral message though)" type of posts...

but in any case, ahh thanks for the optimism! i don't remember dean wallace commenting on 25%-immediately/25%-deferral plan, but that would be really awesome if it were true. i certainly hope i still have a reasonable chance of getting in...

If it makes you feel any better, during my one-on-one interview, the Dean of Student Affairs told me the school does defer a lot of acceptances to March. So perhaps SDN is skewed in that regards..which isn't that hard to believe.

I like the Dean of SA's comment 🙂

Like you said, in all fairness, I think there were like less than 10 people who posted their March acceptance in previous Feinberg threads. I'm sure that's a very very small percentage of people who got accepted in March... fingers crossed!

Rejecteddddddd. Complete way back in August so its not much of a surprise. Good luck to everyone still in it!

+1 got the rejection email this morning 🙁

Good luck everyone still in the running!

I was deferred in November (?) I interviewed in early October. Haven't really been thinking about it much until now. SO anxious. Accepted at another school, but Northwestern was my absolute first choice. :luck: to all of us deferred! Here's hoping for some ACCEPTANCES and not waitlists/rejections.

+1 exactly my situation in terms of the dates and having loved the school!! I've been thinking about it too much till now though... :xf:

Deferred until March today. I'm really hoping I get good news in March :xf:
I interviewed 12/12 I think.

+3. I was deferred too. It did say in the e-mail though that they expect a large number of those to be accepted, and a smaller amount wait-listed/rejected. Wish I was accepted already, but I guess it's good they're still considering us....especially considering how many rejections have been going out lately

So... what the deferral message said was:

"I expect that many of the applicants receiving this message will eventually receive an acceptance to FSM. Some will be placed on a waitlist and only a few will be declined."

I guess I just don't want to get my hopes up to much and get them crushed later... but does anyone think "many of the applicants" is somewhat of a euphemism? As in, if 100 people get accepted in March, I would consider that "many" in terms of quantity, but in the grand scheme of things, that's maybe 20-25% of acceptances, which means 75-80% of people were already accepted on a rolling basis... Gah I'm probably thinking too much.

I've read your past few posts and you think wayyyyy too much. Jeez. 25% now, 25% later, what's so hard about that

I got into Mt. Sinai and Northwestern recently, and I really like both schools (they were both tied for my top choice); can anyone help me differentiate the two? I really like schools with more humanism/liberal-artsy emphases, and I love how both schools are in amazing areas of amazing cities!
