Rejected today, complete 7/13. 🙁 I really liked the programs at Tulane, too.

I have to say it really hurts to get a rejection before an interview invite; it would sting a lot less the other way around. Well, at least I'm done with my internship and turn 21 this weekend. So I can't really wallow in self-pity for long.

Ah well, good luck to everyone still in the running!

Just got the "complete and under review" email today. I've had everything turned in since 7/15

:xf:

Mine was turned in 7/20. I can't wait to join the slaughter mill!

+1. Submitted everything by 7/17, got the complete and under review email today. And thus the nail-biting begins...

Tulane certainly isn't a safety for me. But I don't consider any med school a safety, especially if they get 10,000 applicants.

Glad I heard back,.......sad I was rejected.

Has anyone gotten an invite? This is kinda scary, post after post of rejections of awesome candidates. :scared:

Rejected today as well... it's comforting to see that many other people were too, even though it sucks...

Dang, I was rooting for you, Wirez! Good luck with your other applications.

Sigh, 3 rejections so far... Kind of demoralizing

Called admissions and they won't tell me why I was rejected...

No appeals either.

Sorry to hear that. You applied very broadly, so you'll see some luck.

How'd you find out why Wake rejected you? I was also rejected, but they didn't tell me why in the e-mail. It's been driving me nuts.

Rejected yesterday, I have very mid to low stats and was completed 7/15

I asked through email. You should too. By phone might be better.

aww sorry to hear that kautionwirez -- um..sorry to ask but i have a lower sci gpa than you AND i have a 9 VR (when wake said they rejected you, did they really say they rejected you cuz of these? do you think having an upward trend in sci gpa might help me even if my cumulative was less?) GOOD luck with all your other apps, man!

They said it was my VR 9 and my downward trend which I would have explained if the secondary allowed me to. I am kind of regretting not putting my reason in my PS (many people who read my PS suggested not to).

Are we able to view our submitted applications at all? When I log in, it just says thank you for registering request submission. It seems weird to me.

why don't people understand that there is no such thing as a safety medical school? sure, if you have a 3.9 and a 40 MCAT you may get interviews everywhere, but when the admissions committee realizes that you are a robot, i doubt they are going to want you caring for patients...

Why do you assume people with good stats are robots and are unworthy of caring for patients? 😕

7/15 survivor 🙂

Good luck to those rejected, you'll get love elsewhere.

There are people in every class at Tulane with ridiculously high stats, a bunch with Tulane's average, and some below. Nobody get's screened out because of high averages, though you can be screened out for low numbers.

Tulane has always tried to pick people that they feel will be a right fit at Tulane/New Orleans, which has a very different vibe from many places in the US. As others have mentioned, there are over 10,000 applicants, and most people don't receive interviews. We try to find people out there who pass the eyeball test of scores and who also have attributes that we would want in our classmates. They then receive an interview to see if the committees gut feeling about the applicant holds true. This is a difficult task with so many people applying, but the committee does all they can with the information they are given.

Good luck with the application process at Tulane and elsewhere.

is the price tag of TU turning anyone off? I mean, 70K?! :scared:

With that said, I applied 😀

oh, i thought it was 50k.
which is not much better than 70k
oh, student loans...
of course, I've only survived the first culling, there will surely be more. This price tag may never be an issue.

They rejected you because of a 9 in VR?? 😕 I have an 8 in TWO of the sections... I shouldn't have wasted money on the secondary. Oh well, all it's left is to wait for my rejection 🙁

This was for Wake Forest BTW, not Tulane...

Well, I applied there as well. I can explain why they haven't given me a secondary yet  BTW, I am sorry for your rejections. However, I am sure you will have a lot of success in the application cycle. Wish you luck :xf:

Complete. REALLY excited to be rejected.

yo hold the phone here. They know and take into account how many schools you're applying to? Interesting, I'm only applying to like 5 schools which I was sort of thinking might have been a mistake.
Of you survivors, what were your stats?
I'm 32R (12PS 9V 11BS) with 3.91 science and 3.94 overall.
I'm also from new orleans if that matters any.
I just submitted my secondary yesterday, so I'm guessing it might take a while for them to get back to me.

who said they take into account how many schools you're applying to? how could they know that? (unless someone's looking at mdapplicants trying to match users to apps 🙄 )
34Q (12 PS 11V 11BS) 3.83, 3.83s

They can see it on your AMCAS application.

They can see it on your AMCAS application.

where did you hear/find this? All I can find in the AMCAS handbook is that after february they'll provide schools that have accepted you with a list of other schools that have accepted you. After april they will give a list of schools that have accepted you to any school you applied to.

It looks that way when you print out your application, but remember that's just an applicant copy.

Not according to AMCAS.

Yeah, the copy that ADCOMS receive won't show the other schools you're applying to.

Thanks for the clarification. I was mistaken...

Hi guys,
I was looking through Tulane's site and even their mission statement seems very concise, is there any other info out there? I'm especially interested in international stuff? Is Tulane involved in anything like this?
Thanks

I've been following this thread like crazy. My primary is still verifying, but I can't wait to go through the cycle with you guys! :luck:

By list, should we really JUST list with no explanation?

I applied to Tulane last year and was accepted, no waitlist or anything. I wrote a paragraph that listed and explained my leadership roles. They weren't necessarily positions that could be fully understood from just listing. Also, most of my leadership roles weren't in clubs or organizations, but in employment situations. You should do whatever you think represents you the best. Tulane isn't going to penalize you just because you didn't follow some sort of rigid structure. That's not what they're about.
