I don't think they'll reject the interviewed applicants until 17th though. Committee meets every Friday, so if they did send out rejections for ppl who interviewed 9/12 and onwards, some would've heard.

Hope I'll hear something this week. Complete on 9/2 (at least got the timestamp email on 9/2).

Ready to move forward, and hope Tulane shows me some love.

The timestamp email is not the complete email.

Well, balls.

Would love to hear something soon, but looks like it won't happen. Planning on calling them in a few weeks just to follow up, and let them know that (a) I haven't died, and (b) I'm still interested.

Does anyone know how long it takes for Tulane to send out secondaries? I was deferred from my EDP choice, and I sent out my primary almost a week ago.

Secondary submitted / paid for on 9/7. Hope to hear (positively) sooner rather than later. Seems like a really great school, and my friend in the mph program said it's super friendly @ Tulane

How does tulane pick who gets in and who doesn't? is it a ranked list?

No, they said that they do not put a numerical score on applicants. When the adcom reviews your file post-interview, they will determine, after a holistic review, whether you qualify or not. It is totally subjective and either "accepted" "rejected" or "waitlisted"

I thought the packet said we are rated on a scale of 1-5 with 3 being in the acceptable range (i.e. wait list range). I also recall them saying that at least 4 adcoms will review our files, after which time we will be assigned the aforesaid score.

With the committee meeting every week, they probably render decisions for all people interviewing that week. Our fate is already sealed, we just don't know the outcome.

Gotcha

Hey Peter I'm pretty sure Tulane told me they would be making calls on the 16th...But I could have mixed that up with another school....EITHER way Tulane will have contacted acceptees by the 17th

So Tulane calls to let you know as opposed to e-mail?

second what peter says. My packet is at home and I'm still on campus but I will check it again tonight. Further, I think you are ranked in the "acceptable" list based on the average of your adcom scores. But I will verify tonight.

Where did you guys stay? I am getting there early at 10AM the day before, so looking for things to do. Any suggestions?

Ya I think the 1-5 ranking is correct. Do we know if they will inform us of our scores?

Did yall get this packet at the interview? Haven't had mine yet so I'm a little lost. I wonder how many interviews they have done so far... I interview on the 14th of this month and wonder what my chances are. I thought I was early, but now Idk. I also wonder what the turnover is. I expect at least a week from interview, but sounds like its easy for them to get backed up with this rigorous process...

yeah, it definitely says that you're put in an order based on your rating. Those above 3 will be considered in the "acceptable" range. If you're below 3, you get rejected. You'll be notified of acceptance, "acceptable", or rejection, but you won't know you're score. And in filling the class from the acceptable list, they won't go exactly in order, but might skip around to build diversity.

yes, they'll give you a folder in the interview that has this information. It says the committee meets once a week, but it may take 3 weeks after your interview for you to go through the committee, then you'll be notified of your status. Though, since they can't send out acceptances til the 15th, they might be holding everything til then, idk. I'm pretty sure they interview on mondays and fridays, and started the first week of september, possibly second.
I really doubt you're too late if you're interviewing this month. They interview until like february at least.

so i never even got a completion email for tulane. i submitted on sept. 21. when did ppl generally get a completion email?

They have about 12 interviewees per day and 2 interviews per week. They started interviewing 9/12 so I guess approximately 80-90 ppl have interviewed

Completed 8/29, and crickets ever since. Good or bad sign? Any sign at all? Thought I'd heard they were pretty quick to reject...

stats: OOS, 35Q, 3.7, 3+ years clinical experience.

If others who completed at your date has been rejected, then you might be in a good spot. Great stats doesn't matter in Tulane; in fact, it can hurt you. So as long as anyone has decent stats, he/she is in the running. The separation point is the ECs, commitment, essays. Tulane only chooses applicants that they think will 1) commit to the community, 2) commit to Tulane/New Orleans. That's why they interview so few and accept most of those interviewed; cuz they like you if you're invited.
Chill, and sit back, and if you hear good news, let us know cuz you're in a small pool of applicants who Tulane believes is a good fit for their school 😎

rejected 9/27 completed: 8/29 goodluck to everyone else

Well, I guess this might not be a bad sign then. Best wishes to the above applicant. I'll hold out for some good news!

Say, on a side note, I checked out your MD applicants profile. Did you retake your MCAT before this cycle or something? That's such a good score, it baffles me that you didn't receive any interviews your last two attempts.

Makes this first timer a bit nervous...

Rejected: Oct 4

Secondary Sent: 6/27

Officially marked complete: 8/31

Updated my MDapplicants profile for those asking about my last 2 cycles 🙂

Dude that's crazy you had to reapply twice. Did you have a lower MCAT score before?

ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!! Thank you god!!! The best news of my life this morning! To all the haters who said I couldn't make it. Good luck everyone!!! 🙂 :luck::luck::luck:

Congrats man! 👍 Were you EDP, if so you were probably in my interview group!

How does tulane pick who gets in and who doesn't? is it a ranked list?

Its a secretive process involving voodoo dolls complete with applicant photos (entire purpose of interview is to obtain said photo) and the Sorting Hat loaned each Friday from Hogwarts.

They're goin downhill if they only have access to the hat once a week.

Accepted as well! I'll see you next summer Ronronpatel.

congrats guys! so it looks like they officially passed my complete date (Aug 23rd). My app is very community service oriented so hopefully that'll help... I would love to interview here!

Congrats! I bet they've already set your interview date and are just waiting until that date is 30 days out before sending your invite e-mail (what admissions told me they do).

rejected yesterday...but i guess i didn't really have a good reason for wanting to go here haha

Have you gotten the e-mail yet for your early November interview date? I haven't gotten it yet but hopefully it'll get there in the next couple of days.
