It will almost certainly hurt you, but most schools require it. Even for married folk. Doesn't matter if your parents will actually be supporting you.

Thanks for the info...

I haven't heard of a school that doesn't require it. As they say, if everyone could omit their parents' info then all would show the same need.

And this is probably the best explanation for the requirement though it doesn't help the overall situation. 😳

Does anyone know when the acceptance range starts to move? Are they continually looking over the A range or do they wait until May 15th to really start accepting people?

I have yet to hear of anybody (in past years' threads as well) being accepted off of the acceptance range before March 1st. I know last year there were a couple of people accepted from the list before May 15, but still after the February interviews were over. It is my understanding that this upcoming week is the last week of interviews. Hopefully some movement after then...I'm in the same boat.

How many people are on the acceptance range list? Is it everyone who was not outright accepted essentially or did they reject some people post interview?

I don't think anybody was rejected post-interview. So I think it consists of everyone who was not accepted right away. I have not heard of any post-interview rejections, and I also recall one of the faculty saying that if we were good enough to get an interview, we were good enough to be accepted. So you'd really have to bomb the interview to be rejected...and I think even that's tough to do.

Did anybody else read the Tulane threads from previous years? I'm under the impression that Tulane is one of those schools that over-accepts on the assumption that enough students will choose to matriculate elsewhere. This in turn leads to very little waitlist movement. :scared:

Either that or the people who post in class-specific SDN threads the summer before matriculation are not a representative sample of the waitlist population as a whole.

I think in previous years there has been good movement on the list. However, last year I don't think there was much and this year I don't believe there will be much either. People tend to accept offers at Tulane and stick with them, more so than other schools I think. Plus, Tulane is getting record numbers of applicants each year. I literally can't imagine how they sift through the amount of applicants they get each cycle.

Best of luck to those waiting. This is truly the best med school on the planet. The support and fun you will experience here is quite literally unequaled.

Well, today I was rejected from my other #1 choice, so as of noon I am officially a T0. And glad to be here. See all y'all in the fall!

Anybody hear a decision who interviewed on 10 Feb? If not, anybody know when we should expect to hear?

Congrats! It must feel great to know where you're going. I love this school, but the price is making me a bit anxious... and my SO needs access to programming jobs, which I'm not sure NO has so much?

For your SO, New Orleans is actually a budding startup:venture capital city for Internet companies. Check out launchpad.com or @launchpad for more information, it's actually a very exciting time to be in programming in NO.

It is also the first city for the Code for America project, with this year in NO.

i interviewed the same day. i actually called on fri and the lady was going to tell me on the spot! after i finished sweating bulldozers, she said our group is still under review. but father don originally told me we'd know by the 29th. so starting tom i'll officially be past biting nails, i'll be stalking my inbox with 10 hyperactive nubs.

acceptance range.... great lol.

I'm sorry to hear that you and ekjybeth were waitlisted but luckily that isn't a death sentence. If you want in, make sure you get in touch with Dr. Beckman immediately and numerous times from now until June and really stress why you want to go to Tulane. I have confidence that things will work out for you two. Good luck!!

🙂ACCEPTED!!! Got the e-mail on Thursday. I will definitely be coming to Tulane, this is an awesome school. See you all in August!

Alright guys, I was so bored and decided to review the cycle for Tulane 2011-2012 on SDN.
There were total of 65 posters who interviewed, with 50 people who received an acceptance and 15 people who were placed on acceptance-range (16 counting me).

Congratulations to those accepted and good luck to my fellow members still on acceptance-range. Hopefully the movement will start soon as interview season is over :luck:

I was able to get in touch with an adcom member yesterday regarding the acceptance range list. He told me that there will not be able to be any movement until after May 15 🙁 . Makes sense, and now I can postpone the heart palpitations for the week before then. Good luck and God bless anyone else waiting!

OMG you can tell how worked up I am - I almost read your message and thought you were going to say that there wasn't going to be any movement in the admissions range people this YEAR. LOL I need to seriously chill out. I just really love Tulane : (

Agreed. I love this school too and waiting till mid May will be tortuous

LOL. I can empathize with your intensity. I was actually just diagnosed with premature ventricular contractions--they mysteriously started mid-August and have yet to let up! My apologies...but I'm in the same boat. I'll be slower on the draw next time 🙂 .

Aside from the $100 deposit, is there anything else that we need to submit to Tulane after we've accepted the offer?
I was rereading my acceptance letter and it says that "a final transcript of your grades must be forwarded to the office as soon as your school year ends." Is this only if you're graduating in June 2012? What if I graduated in 2011, do they still need a transcript? Thanks!

Might call the office to check, but I think you do still need to send a transcript, because for some reason they like to have them on file. Idk if they don't trust AMCAS or what, but for the other schools I've been accepted to they ask for transcripts from all schools where you received a degree.

+1. They want to have every official transcript you have on record to ensure one last time that everything checks out with you.

Definitely didn't think to do this, thanks. I'll call and check.

Edit: Yep, they need a transcript!

Is this only for people in school? I graduated a while ago and have been working- do I need to send in transcripts? All I sent was my deposit...

You attended school, graduated, they want a record of the classes you took. Call if you think we're wrong.

Think about it. 🙂 They want a transcript from everyone to verify your application. While you are currently working, like me, we still count as everyone and I assume try want to verify our education 🙂

People should note that you only have to do this once you have picked your final choice school. If you are still holding multiple offers and considering, you don't have to send them in until you have made your final choice. However, you won't be allowed to matriculate without having official transcripts sent to your school.

I was just clarifying!!

And thanks for that last post- good to know we don't need to do it until we're certain which school we are attending. Thanks!

Whew! So for those of us who are not in school right now this sounds like more of a mid-May project, and not so much an "OMG I didn't send transcripts with my $100 deposit Barbara is going to kick me out" type thing.

I went ahead and ordered my transcript this morning so I wouldn't forget. 😉 But yeah it's no rush.

Have any decisions been released this week? I interviewed on 2/27, the last day of Tulane's interview season.

Accepted! I love this school, I'm elated! God is good!

Few words of advice for those waiting...don't let comments on this thread discourage you (whatever their nature). I used to sit and dwell on every comment...thought the class was filled, and my goose was cooked. Over the past few months, I've found that the admissions committee is fairly unpredictable (I was told to wait until mid-May for further news). Keep in touch with the school, show some interest, and pray for the best. I sincerely hope those waiting to hear from this school get good news! I know how painful it can be!

Interviewed/acceptance range'd in November. Accepted after a painful wait this morning!

Welcome off of the Acceptance Range!!! :hello: You think you'll matriculate here?

Accepted today! Interviewed 2/10 and put in acceptance range on 3/1. I'll definitely be there in the fall. Sooooooo happy! 😀
