Nope, they sent me an e-mail each time. They take a while to get back to you, though. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I haven't received anything from them other than the email for the supplemental app.🙁

New here, just wanted to chime in.

I actually sent an update and got a response an hour or so later.

Yeah haven't heard anything either since I sent in the secondary application. They probably just received a huge influx of new applicants after their extension and are busy reviewing them to determine who they want to interview.

Just my thoughts... no evidence this is true.

secondary application fee debited today lets see if i hear anything

just interviewed here this past tuesday and absolutely loved the school and everyone that I met - as for interview invites, they said they are interviewing through the end of april so there's still plenty of time for those of you waiting to hear back - good luck!

Any news lately?

Mid-month sounds right for acceptance details. Also, can anyone comment on what the school said about preparing students for USMLE Step 1?

I'm assuming you sent your update via internet or something since you got such a quick response. Did you sumbit via email? If so can you please share the address?

I believe that they said they will give practice full lengths 5 times throughout the first two years so that you can see your progress and weaknesses so that they can be addressed. Also, if there are any weaknesses that the whole class consitantly has, then they will reteach that information to make sure they everyone understands. To me, it seemed like they had a good plan and expect very high pass rates.

This is right. I followed up with the school and this is what they told me as well. I just wanted to confirm that they are thinking ahead about USMLE Step 1.

same here, i will be anxiously checking email all day tomorrow - good luck everyone!

Same here - good luck to everyone! Let the compulsive email checking begin!

Me too 🙁 this is about to become pure torture... Not sure how I feel about this "no rejection" policy...

Has anybody that was put on hold been accepted in between cycles, like on a random weekday that was not during the committee's normal meeting? Hopefully they will accept more people on the fly as currently accepted students decide to go elsewhere. Surely they won't make us wait another whole month before looking at us again???

+1

on my interview day i got the impression that they only meet once a month - during this meeting they review the past month's interviewees as well as re-review those from previous months.. in other words, i'm afraid we might be waiting another month for our next possible chance.

Hi everyone,

Waiting for an acceptance is extremely difficult. I've been there way too many times... I've taken the MCAT 5 times in the last 7 years. Fortunately, I received yesterday the email I had been hoping for all this time... all it took was a "brand-new" school and a Leap Year for me to get in 😉
I hope to meet all of you (those who have been accepted and those who are still waiting for that email) at orientation in late July.
Keep your hopes up... Best wishes for everyone!!!

Wow... you're a tough one to keep at it for that long. I can only pray that I don't have to do that myself. It's a shame that we're often nothing more to these schools than a GPA and an MCAT. Anyway, I'm sure you'll make a great doctor having been through all that 👍 Congratulations!!!

For interested parties, I came across this news article from Feb. 8th:

http://www.greenvilleonline.com/art...0004/Applications-flood-Greenville-med-school

"Of the 1,444 applicants, 280 have been interviewed so far, 46 have been offered placement and 42 have accepted.

That number is likely to change because students typically get multiple offers and don't decide which school to attend until May. So schools need to make offers to 2½-times as many students as they can take."

Very interesting article... especially the part where they say we are going to have a shortage of 100,000 physicians in 10 years... obviously adding a new medical school was a step in the right direction, but we need more!!! Limiting the number of seats in medical schools might make the admissions process more selective, but it does nothing to help resolve the huge shortage of doctors! Other hospitals need to follow Greenville's example - it is taking applicants off the street (who otherwise might not have had their chance) and putting them to work towards treating thousand of patients that would have otherwise not found help. Both parties benefit.

Sorry to get on a soapbox, guess I'm just frustrated that the avg. GPA of admitted students at Greenville is so high. I figured things would have gotten a little less competitive since it's SC's 4th med school.

I'm too broke to pay to read the entire article (yes, $2 is two days' lunch). Did the article say anything about how many they plan to interview and accept? I'm curious as to whether or not I really have a shot here...

Thanks and good luck to all!

Just Google the article title and open it up cached and you can see the whole thing 😎

And to answer your question about how many, based on the email that circulated last fall (sent from the school to pre-med advisors) they plan to interview 12-15 per week through April, and I think they started in October. Doing the math, this comes out to about 325 - 350 students. But, as the article implies, a little more math shows that they will probably wind up having to accept almost 150 of these people to actually fill 50 seats. So any individual applicant's chance would probably be between 30% - 50%.

:smack: I totally should've thought of that on my own, thanks.

No problem. I just noticed something funny about the article at the very end: "a quarter of the applicants are from SC" 😕 isn't it the other way? I thought they were only taking 25% OOS...

Random...it wasn't a pay-for article when I posted it. 😕

Look at the applicant rates for other public schools. A good amount of them have TONS of OOS applicants, but very few OOS seats.

(Example: Medical College of Georgia had 1064 IS applicants and 1115 OOS applicants. They ended up matriculating 228 IS and 2 OOS)

Oh wow..I totally misread that... a quarter of the applicants, not the accepted students. Oops

Yikes, so according to that article, "of the 1,444 applicants, 280 have been interviewed so far, 46 have been offered placement and 42 have accepted." Are they really going to be interviewing through April to fill 8 slots? I kind of have to hope the author got those numbers wrong...
