Congrats! I am not in the US currently, so I don't really know if I got any mail or not. Won't be able to figure that out for another two weeks...
 
Seeing that people are getting via mail now I went to my mailbox like I was looking under the tree Christmas morning.... 🙁 Nuttin yet. I will be seeing you again, Herr Mailbox..

Ha, well if it was on a stone, the word belongs to you, sir. I agree there are some pretty great profiles to stalk on this forum! It's kind of neat to watch people progress.
 
It's strange that they tell you who your interviewer will be. My guy is wearing a bow tie. That can only be good!
 
I also am away and cannot check the mail for 2 weeks. For those of you who got the invite, did you then receive an email or did your status change? Thanks. (I am being optimistic.)

Or not. My dermatologist wears a bow tie, therefore I am forever scarred.

However, that being said, I'd take a bow-tie-wearer if the option was none.
 
Just to confirm - there is no fee to be paid until we are invited to complete the secondary, right? It seems weird to recieve an email form a school and not reach for my credit card...
 
I received no Vandy mail today, either. I get the feeling a rejection is headed my way. Too bad, this was a top choice of mine.

Why would you assume you're getting rejected? It's AUGUST! They've just starting sending out invites.
 
are there student hosts for the august interviews? mine is next week, and i havent heard back from my request yet.
 
I wonder why they don't use email...USPS delivery can be sketchy and unreliable for me.

To try to answer your question, Vandy uses email to let us undergrads know that we will be receiving another email shortly or to tell us to watch for a letter arriving by USPS. They also use USPS for monthly notifications to tell us that "they are going green" and will not be sending a paper bill that month and that instead we should be expecting an email with the link to pay the bill online.

For people who are received interview/secondary invites recently, when was your AMCAS verified?

Mine was verified early June, but I didn't submit to Vandy until a little after. Dates on MDApps.
 
First Interview Invite of the app season. Looking forward to visiting Nashville.

Mine was verified in early July. I want to say the 6th, but I can't be sure.

When you guys talk about AMCAS being verified, are you guys referring to the email that Vandy sent that starts by saying, "Vanderbilt University School of Medicine has received your AMCAS application via electronic transmission..." ??😕
 
Took a week to get to me, but: WAHOOOOOO!
 
Interview invite in snail mail! Apparently it was sent out on 8/4, but I didn't get it until my friend went over to my new apartment on campus and picked it up! First one in this cycle!!

What do you guys think about holding off on selecting an interview date, until I hear back from more east coast schools? Will this hurt my chances? I live in CA, and if I keep flying back and forth to these schools the costs are going to rack up pretty quickly.
 
Has anybody found a hotel that offers both an airport shuttle and a shuttle to Vanderbilt?

I'm in the same boat... well, just slightly north of you in Oregon... I'm thinking I'll just set mine for the middle of September and hope to be able to add interviews on later.
 
Does Vandy screen before sending out their secondary? I haven't received one yet and was wondering what was going on.

Edit: Just found the answer to my own question. Should have read through the entire thread.

I got my VANDYMAIL!!! Whoooooo!!! So yeah, I was a little too quick to get discouraged about this, it just took the USPS way too long to get it from TN to FL.
