anyone else not notice that they don't take AP credits for prereqs until after they sent in their primary? bah. at least it's only $33....?

That's the case with a lot of my schools. I figure, eh, why not complete my app and see if they care? Vandy's only (heh, only) $50, after all...

they shouldn't take that into consideration though right, i mean, if you get accepted, you could always take an actual course to make up for the pre-req. at least that's what I was planning on doing!

I'm sure others will probably tell you to just keep as quiet about your AP classes as possible, which may be the best idea, but you might want to consider mentioning that you have the space to, and are completely willing to, take those classes if they request that you do. Just my "2 cents." Good luck!

Interview invite! Dated August 4, received in Toronto.

One question -- I haven't finished my essays so I don't think I can see the interview scheduler, but does anyone know if there are still dates available during the first two weeks of September?

Thanks!

I scheduled last night for late August, and there were indeed multiple (about... 5 or 6 I think?) days available in the first two weeks of September.

so is there 1 interviewer only, or 2? their website says 2- one long and one short. last year's thread said one only

I wish I heard back from the student hosting program. Would have loved to stay with a student.would have saved me some money too haha

I have been going to the mailbox everyday frantically looking for a letter and every day nothing. Vanderbilt is increasing my level of anxiety with this process exponentially everyday. Come on Vandy!

I'll second that thought. I now have anxiety about both my physical mailbox and my e-mail inbox.

If Vandy would just send me a secondary, then I could go back to focusing all my anxiety on my email. Is that too much to ask?

Got an interview!! 😀 Dated 8/15; got my completed e-mail on 7/25.

Do you guys think that they go out in batches (sent out 8/4, then again 8/15)?

Just submitted the secondary and booked my interview date!!

PS: The online payment system does NOT work with Safari on Mac or iPhone. (Yes, I filled out most of my application on my iPhone.)

Interview invite in snail mail today! Got complete email 7/26

If they're mailing them, then I'm sure they're going out in batches. The beauty of mail merge...

I have my first interview here on Monday. I forgot that I would actually have to go to interviews in the whirlwind of applications 🙄 Anyone else going to be there?

I had an issue with forwarding my address so does anyone know if there is a way to know if you should have received something via snail mail...as in is there an e-mail they send out or something if you don't respond a certain amount of time after them sending it out.

I'm operating under the assumption they haven't sent me anything yet...but who knows...and I would hate for me to not act on it because of something like this.

Thanks.

Speaking of student hosting: has anyone been assigned a host, or do any current students know if the hosting program has been started up? My interview is next Monday and I'd love not to have to pay for a hotel....

so my interview is tomorrow, and I got my host yesterday afternoon. Quite last minute 🙂

it worked out, but I would look at hotels as a backup

i stayed at the holiday inn since i didnt get a host. i thought it was pretty good. shuttle in the morning to light hall.

Good luck at Vandy! :luck: I'll see you in a few weeks (hopefully).

No student host email yet. Argh, might have to pay for a hotel now 🙁

Would anybody who's already scheduled their interviews be willing to share what dates are still available? I received my invite this past week and I'm not sure whether I should be in a hurry to finish the secondary (didn't pre-write 🙁) to ensure that I interview early or whether I should invest a lot of time into it.

Go to the village! 🙂

I'm talking about stuff in Rochester 🙂 . I've been in Nashville for three days now; I stayed with a friend here, and so far we have been to:

Noshville
Burger Up
Loveless
CeCe's
Athens
Flying Saucer
Frothy Monkey
Portland Brew
and Satco

soooo I love the food here, basically.

Good luck. You're gonna love it there. Just try not to make me look too bad by comparison. Deal?

I don't recognize a single one of those, but they all sound delicious!

Could someone take a look at my question further up the page? I'd really appreciate an answer.

You should invest time into it. I've talked to multiple admissions folks here that say the secondary essays are very important to them. Each one seemed to put more weight on a different essay as well. GL 🙂

Oops 😳.

Awesome! Go to Fido's if you like coffee. Also, they have great sandwiches (I'm partial to the steak one myself).

I don't think it's possible to see the interview calendar after scheduling the interview, but I scheduled mine a few days ago and September 6 and 8 were the earliest available dates.

I think it's important to spend time on the essays, but really, my Vanderbilt essays were just adapted from other secondary essays I wrote.

so I survived! It was really laid back...enjoyable even. The second interview, especially, was just a nice conversation about my beliefs and interests. Good luck to everyone else!

Good to hear! Thanks for sharing, and good luck 🙂

I finally submitted and scheduled! I will be at Vandy on September 20th, though I plan to be in Nashville for several days before and after that.

When I scheduled, these were the September dates available: 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29.

Got an interview invite for Vandy, postmarked 8-18-11, complete on 8-16-11! Didn't think it would come in so fast so now I have to hurry and write some essays lol...

Anyone interviewing sept 19th? I'm on the list to get a student host but would love to only pay half for a hotel if possible. I'm a guy. Anyway, pm me if you are potentially interested. 🙂

I took two physics classes in college just the standard physics 1 and 2, each with a lab attached to lecture; however, each class is only 3 credit hours. Do you think they will allow me to get away with only 6 credit hours instead of the required 8? I also don't have any room to take any more physics courses at all this semester or next. (Also, don't know if this matters, but I also got a 14 on the physics section of the MCAT, so I think I know basic physics well enough) Should I email them, or just be quiet about it?
