When I emailed the admissions office for feedback on my application the first time I applied they said they give secondaries to about a third of the applicants.
If this is true, then we've still got a considerable bottleneck ahead of us before landing an interview.
7,400 primary applications submitted
2,450 secondary applications submitted
540 interviews
225 accepted
120 matriculated
Wow, that's quite a bottleneck. At least we're in the interview pool 🙂, unlike some schools where there are maybe 15-20 applicants per
interview offered.
Also, do you know if anyone is rejected immediately after submitting a secondary, or is everyone placed in the interview pool?
I'm not sure. Last year I was put on hold after submitting the secondary (then around March I was officially rejected), which leads me to believe that they might 'hold' their non-interview secondary invites... but that's just speculation.
I see. But the "hold" status is completely distinct from our current status, correct?
IIRC I got the hold status after "Your application is complete. Interviews are by invitation from September to March..." followed by the rejection.
Ah. Best of luck this time around. Since we are the early birds, we should be hearing from them beginning of August based on last year's thread.
I'm still waiting on my committee letters too. It takes them 2-3 weeks to write the letter after you send in your verified AMCAS PDF. This is part of the reason it's taking so much motivation to do secondaries, haha. I know that they won't be complete for another couple weeks anyway.

I haven't even gotten a secondary invite yet (I hope I get one) and there are already interview slots taken. 🙁
Only one person on SDN received an interview - that we know of, at least. The vast majority of us are in the pool right now where it is decided whether we are placed on "hold" or offered an interview.
don't worry, i hadn't even taken my mcat yet at this point last year.

As a reference point for others: Verified 7/7, got e-mail this morning saying they received my primary, just checked and am getting a secondary.

I'm just hoping for a bit of clarification on the status most of use have "You're app is complete...interviews are from Sept to March, etc." Does this mean that they have not yet looked over our app? Some people have mentioned "interview pools" in regards to this status. If so, then what differentiates this status from an 'on hold' one?

Got an email notification this morning that they'd received my app...just checked my status and it looks like I was screened in for a secondary! 🙂 So happy, I love this school!

Sorry to hear that. I'm surprised they actually looked at your primary at that depth in deciding whether to send you a secondary. This is one of school of many, so keep your head up.

but the 9 on verbal shouldn't be a reason to decline you...heck i got a 9 the first time and a 6 the second time and they are still considering me
