Wayne was a wonderful school. I remember reading in previous posts that the admissions staff was cold and abrasive, but I had the exact opposite experience with them during my visit. They were extremely kind and warm, and the students were as well. Good luck to all still in the game here!

Time to wake this thread up. Its a little tough seeing everyone else wait for notification from other schools when Wayne won't tell us until the 26th. But that's only 12 days! I couldn't be more excited/nervous. Good luck to everyone hoping to get in here. Its seems like an amazing school.

any canadians receive an interview offer yet? or better yet.. receive an acceptance from wayne state yet?

:xf: I'm surprised Wayne has such a quick turnaround! Loved my interviewer here. We were talking about literature for half the time!

Interview next week 🙂

Do you mind stating when were you complete and MCAT score? I am a Canadian applicant too. I have been complete for exactly two months with no answer or contact whatsoever. No rejection No interview nothing at all.

I have my interview the week after astr1x. 37Q, complete Sep 8th, invited Sep 21st.

Another Canadian got an interview a few pages back in this thread.

Complete Sept 21, invite the same day. 3.9ish/33.
HOWEVER, last time I applied (2 years ago), I was complete around Sept as well but got an interview invite in April (kind of ironic since I got one of the last interview spots left) - slightly higher GPA and same MCAT last time.

So, I wouldn't worry too much. These things are way too random. Good luck!

Just a warning to everyone waiting for a decision from Wayne:
Don't count on the e-mail to be in your box by the time they say it will. For the EDP notification, I checked the e-mail a bit after the deadline and there was nothing there, called the office and they said the lady who had the acceptance list was still at lunch. I finally got the e-mail an hour after the deadline. Good luck everyone!

Thanks for the heads up. This waiting is brutal. But, what's one more week? Best of luck to those waiting with me. I sincerely hope we all get good news next Wednesday.

wow who said that? I'm an M1 and never had that experience last year or see that now either. People tend to be pretty chill here in admissions. Not like those interviews where they ask you tons of ethical questions or really do a number on you as I've heard happens at other schools.

I did. I know a few people who have had bad experiences. I am one of the many.

Also read last years thread for some juicy tid bits of what happened.

Don't get me wrong though, I've also had positive experiences. I guess it just depends.

just about to mail in my seconday..and was wondering for the photo did you go and get your pic taken or just print (on normal paper) a pic of your face at 2" by 2"
Just wondering if I need to go get (and pay) for a passport photo to be taken...

Don't bother with a passport picture. My wife took a few pictures of me with a digital camera and we printed them at Meijer, sent one of those in.

I printed a low quality image on my inkjet and literally glued it to my secondary. I don't think it has to be anything fancy, just a way to put a face to your app.

I had a quick question about the secondary. I received my secondary on September 13 and completed most of it right away, but then I hit a busy point with interviews and class and work and I never got around to finishing the secondary. I finally got some breathing room and I would like to finish up my application and submit it, but it has been almost six weeks now. Would they still take it? Or are they set on that 4 weeks deadline? There is still plenty of time in the cycle, but if they won't look at my secondary for being late then I want to focus my energy (and application fee) elsewhere.

They told me that the deadline is not strict. I submitted almost a week late and received an interview. Good luck!

Interview Invite today October 20th

Email saying they received my AMCAS application August 16
Secondary request August 19

Wrote email to them on September 29 saying work constraints made it difficult to submit secondary in month window. They got back to me immediately saying that was fine.

Email saying they received secondary October 3rd

Non-trad. 3.58 cGPA, 3.32 sGPA with some bad grades coming my freshman year of college in 1998 (undergrad in journalism, graduate degree in English, scrabbled together post-baccalaureate program), 30Q MCAT on second take, 10-10-10.

Just put my secondary in yesterday... terrifying. I can't believe how long you can potentially wait before hearing anything! Hoping they look at mine and either give me an interview or give me the axe (hopefully not that one)

Anyone applying for MD/MPH program? I got an email for an interview on nov.7 but nothing in the mail yet.

I will be! But I haven't submitted my secondary yet. I had exams and haven't started it yet. :/

First off, the staff at Wayne is absolutely wonderful. I physically handed in my secondary, and then came back for an additional visit with one of the staff members, and each time was very pleased with the experience.

Secondly, have hope if you have not heard anything. The admissions team knows what they are doing. If you are a good fit for the school, they will be able to tell. Yes, sometimes it seems like a crap shoot, but in the end it is fair. Have faith that you will get into the school that you fit best with.

That being said.. interview invite today for December.

I received my secondary on 9/8, was complete on 10/4, and received the invite on 10/20.

I am a non-traditional applicant all the way. I have around a 3.6 GPA (both science and non-science), with a strong upward trend my last two years. I took the MCAT twice, second score sub-30.

Have faith in the process, and have faith in YOURSELF. It will show through in your application and your interview.

Is it possible to change the interview day at Wayne State?

You give me a little sliver of hope, Wayne said my secondary was complete 09/22 but I haven't heard a thing after.... : /

Interview Invite!!
Pretty excited! Non-trad! 😀
Yay for some Detroit love!

Yea, I have read said posts as well, but to reiterate, this was not my experience at all. Wayne was a great experience for me.

I interviewed in late Sept and waiting, waiting, waiting! for Oct 26... and so perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself, but if you're not offered an acceptance, do the rest of the people get placed onto a waiting list? Anyone know how that works?

I read on here somewhere, no clue where, that pretty much everyone who interviews and is not accepted is put "under further review" (Wayne's version of a wait list). Not sure if that is true, but that is what I read. When on the wait list, my interviewer told me they don't pull anyone off of the wait list until May 15th, and you can be pulled from there at any time between May and the beginning of classes, or even into the first week. Good luck.

I'm interviewing next Monday, Oct 24. Should i be hearing back on oct 26 as well? 🙂

I doubt it, you will probably be the next offering date. My interviewer said they meet once a week to discuss those they interviewed, so I doubt they will meet, decide and give you the offer in two days. I might be wrong, and you may find out that fast, but I wouldn't count on it. They will tell you when you arrive to interview when you will be notified. :luck:

They have 7 set dates of when they send out acceptances. They will give you the sheet at your interview and tell you which date to expect your decision. Congrats on the interview & good luck! 😀

Oops, I'm an idiot. theseeker already provided this info, haha.

Looking at last years thread, it seems like everyone was either waitlisted or accepted. Those accepted outright had pretty high stats. I'm really nervous about Wednesday, and not super hopeful that I'll be accepted. Five days and we'll know. Best of luck.

Thanks, good luck to you too!
Yeah, I'm very nervous too... I definitely don't have high stats so I not that hopeful either... I was surprised to be interviewed so early actually. I already got rejected from Oakland and I'm on hold at MSU...

Any other interviews coming up?

Thanks! and thanks LizzyDarcy too 😉
I guess another month of waiting hehe

Can any current student comment on class size? I'm wondering what their experience has been as part of such a large class.

Thanks, good luck to you too!

Yea, I was surprised to be interviewed so early too (9/13). I guess we have to take that fact as an indication that Wayne saw something in our applications that made us appear to be good fits for the school. At least I hope that's what happened.

I lucked out and got invited to interview at MSUCHM, too. I feel very lucky that my state schools are showing some interest in me. Didn't apply to Oakland. Starting to wish I had. Oh, and besides a small pool at Rosalind Franklin, I'm having no luck at OOS schools. Again, good luck Wednesday!

We had at least a couple of students pulled off waitlist here right in orientation week. One of them was the brother of another student. Kinda cool. so yea believe me they do pull people off even well into orientation.

For those of you who have been interviewed, were you asked about your secondary essays? particularly question II. and did they ask about the healthcare system at all? Thanks!!

I wasn't asked about either in my interview. We basically went step by step through my AMCAS and had a conversation about my activities (impact, lessons learned, how prepared me for med school.. that sort of stuff). Again, it was very low stress and conversational. But know you're AMCAS well and be able to speak about any/all of your experiences. Good luck.

+1. No health care/ethical questions.

Its as everyone has said. here at wayne they only ask about your activities and why medicine and general questions. You will find that trend too if you look at interview feedback. they don't make it too difficult.

I was actually asked about question II, but it wasn't stressful at all, just a conversation about the health care system with my interviewer (very relaxed). I am a business major, so maybe that played a part in it.

Thanks for the advice guys! So psyched for my interview tmrw 😀

Btw, is it a good idea to bring an update letter with me of stuff I've done since my primary app (fairly significant)? Or should I email it to them after the interview?
