The best thing about this whole process is that in like 55 days it will all be over and we will have finished our interviews and entered our rankings on the computer. At least there is an end date!
I applied to the General Outpatient rotation. I'm a little relieved that you heard from a different rotation as they could possibly still be making decisions about the General Outpatient rotation. Thanks for sharing the dates with me and congratulations!
Here is a rejection that confused me today:
"Thank you for your application to the predoctoral psychology internship program at Southern Arizona VA Health Care System.
We have received 82 completed applications for the 2011-12 internship year. Unfortunately, we are able to make only four offers. I regret to inform you that, having carefully considered the highly competitive pool of applications, we have concluded that we will not be able to place you on our APPIC ranked list, specifically for the general track--111211.
I wish to emphasize that you meet all basic requirements for application to our program and have obvious strengths. Should we not fill our positions from our ranked list, we would be pleased to have you join us as an intern. In order to assist you in your search for an internship position, however, I felt that it was important to provide you with this information as soon as possible."

This rejection confused me. They state they will not place me on their APPIC ranked list. But also say that if they do not fill their positions from their ranked list, they'd be pleased for me to join them. How is that possible if they don't rank me? (I must be missing something 😕

Interview Palo Alto!!!!!!!!!!!!!😍
Just got notified about an interview for Saint Lukes Roosevelt-child track.
Congrats! Via phone or email?
Also:
Beth Israel called for an interview yesterday
AND
Pace sent me a completely unpersonalized rejection (Dear Applicant)

Just a word of caution. Last year, the VA in North Chicago interviewed every single applicant! (that's more than 100) Heard it was so impersonal, hurried, the interviewers were fatigued, and interviewees were not always likely to speak with someone they share rotation interests with. Heard you may not even meet the Training Director. How cruel for applicants that must travel.
Thanks for the heads up! Does anyone know if they are interviewing everyone again this year? The email said I was "selected" to interview, but who knows if that means anything??😕
Congrats on the interview! Was it a personalized or general email? I'm still waiting to hear from them....
When I was researching sites I noticed that they interviewed everyone last year but the years before were more selective. Maybe last year was a new TD or something? Definitely doesn't look like it they do it every year and since I haven't heard yet, then there is reason to think it was just a one time thing.

Interview Palo Alto!!!!!!!!!!!!!😍
are you interviewing @ the med ctr or counseling center? it is COLD there! snowy and in the 20's. eeeeks! I'm heading up there after new years.
Wow. Very confusing! My guess is that they're referring to the off chance that both you and this site end up in the Clearinghouse/Phase II, they'd like you to consider them. No idea what else they might be referring to!
Thanks for that reminder!! This is a crazy-making process!!😀
Interview from Palo Alto VA via email. They say you can interview any time in December and January (no weekends or holidays). They also stress that phone interviews are OK.
With that, I'm done. I've heard from all 12, with a final tally of 8/12.
Good luck, everyone!

Just got an invite via email to Allegheny General Hospital in PA!
Congrats, LucileTwo! I'm still waiting on them. Was it a personalized email?
Thanks!
Congrats Sampaguita! I too was expecting a rejection so pleasantly surprised![]()
Rejection from Mt. Washington, interview offer for Baylor College of Medicine (it's not the Texas Children's Track, but has a rotation there.)
Gangreen I hope I hear from Texas Children's too....Congrats on your interview!
I'm guessing you applied to the child/peds track at Baylor? I have an app in there as well, but for adult neuro. Haven't heard back yet from either them or Houston.
Heard back from Southwest Consortium (NM). Offered interview dates on Jan 19, and alternate on Jan 19?!! Typo - YIKES! Anyone clarify with them what the true alternate date is?

Seriously, these days i'm pretty sure i'm more stressed out then my clients (and more OCD about checking email then the most severe of the OCD cases). Maybe this is why they say "psychologists are crazy." I get it now. Its not that we are born this way...the process of becoming a psychologist can make the most grounded of us crazy! Sorta kidding???
Maybe our clients have it down. They drink, smoke, eat excessively, etc. to escape problems. I should develop one of these "coping strategies" since i've run out of good ones.
If she had just several people to call as of roughly two weeks ago, I'm guessing I'm in the reject pile too 🙁 Good luck to you TjMc! Let me know if/when you hear from them (either positive or negative news) and I'll do the same. Snail mail takes about 3 days to get here from ATL so I'm guessing I'll know relatively soon *if* decisions had been made around Thanksgiving and letters are already starting to go out.
I wouldn't throw in the towel yet. The snail-mail reject came before the phone acceptance! I think they have until the 18th. Current interns in my program said Marcus was weird last year too. They said one person from a cohort of 7 got an acceptance really early, and then everyone else did on the last day to notify.
