Interview invite this morning!

How were you guys notified about being complete?

I took the "MSSM MD Application Received" email to be the "complete" email. My status didn't change at all though.

Did people call to confirm their interview or did you just assume it was confirmed when you replied to the email. also did you just hit reply to the email invite or did you send an email to the address they provided...I noticed that the two emails were different.

Hrm, I'm guessing you had your letters in before you submitted the secondary app? I didn't and I had the following paragraph:

[FONT=tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif]Your application will not be complete and will not be reviewed unless all required information is received by the Office for Admissions. .[FONT=tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif]Please use the following in order to check on the status of your application: http://apply.embark.com/Grad/MountSinai/MD/17/. For remaining questions please call our office during the hours of 2pm-4pm (ET) on Mondays or Wednesdays. We dedicate this time to fulfilling these specific requests.

...the link doesn't say anything about it though :/

Nope, I got the same email. They will not tell you when they have received your letters though, you just gotta have faith. Or you can call them.

I would not hit "reply"... the sender email is "[email protected]" after all... I would not call either, they only say to call if you need to reschedule. Just send an email to the email address they tell you to send an email to.

My letters were received by AMCAS before I transmitted my secondary and I still got that same email... I dont know if the email is any different for people who have a complete status vs. those that don't. I think it might just be a generic "we have your secondary" email...

If anyone has called to ask about their letters I would appreciate the confirmation of whether or not this is true. Otherwise I'll be another one of those neurotic premeds calling to ask about letters 😉

is anyone applying to PORTAL? I don't really understand what the program entails exactly, other than a few extra classes our 1st and 2nd year and a 5th year devoted to research. Is tuition decreased at all for med school?

My interview is coming up in the next couple of weeks. Can anyone who's already been comment on the interview day/interview format/stress level?

Thanks!

Check the interview feedback if no one replies with their experiences.

Very low stress. You get to the interviews right after a short intro from the Dean. Two interviews: 30-60minutes, both with faculty for me. The rest of the day is devoted to lunch and a tour of the school an then hospital. We were done by 2pm.

Just to confim, in the online portal it remained as "Application Submitted"?

Hey Guys,

It looks like people are starting to get pulled from the re-review pool here and I was wondering if anyone knows how Mt. Sinai feels about update letters? I have a letter regarding an international medical service trip I did after my application was submitted but I have been holding off sending it to Sinai. Has anyone else sent updates?

Does anyone know about the gym which students are given access to? I read about it in the interview feedback section but am having trouble finding out any other information about it.

Interview Invite the other day!! So stoked I thought I had been passed over 😀 My co number one choice along with NYU.

Does anyone have the US News Interviewed vs Acccepted stats for OOS by any chance?

A little less than 50%. Around 600 and 300.

No gym, no care

Yes, there is a gym in the residential building (Aaron). Its pretty nice and open 24hrs. There are also brand new basketball courts right outside.

yea they have a gym in the apartment complex. It was pretty nice when I went. Housing is only 550/month in New York!!!

Neurotic question here. I'm interviewing this Tuesday and I confirmed the date a little over a month ago over the phone. I haven't received an e-mail since. I know it says in the original email invite that an e-mail confirmation won't be sent if made over the phone, but I guess I expected another e-mail closer to the date as a reminder/etc, etc.

Just wondering if I should check and make sure. Do they send a reminder/more-details email before the interview?

I guess someone upstairs decided to ease my fears. An old classmate JUST facebook'd me about seeing my name on the Tuesday interview list and they might be leading my tour group. So, if that's not confirmation, I don't know what is!

Excited about this school!

I will also be there Tuesday - confirmed over the phone and did not receive any confirmation email. See you there! 😀

I interviewed here at it was one of my most pleasant interview experiences.

My two interviews were the most relaxed and non stressful ones in the entire process. Everyone gets their interviews out of the way in the morning too, which is nice. The interview group is quite small and everything is pretty informal, I wouldn't stress to much about it. The student guides were super chill, even let us go in their apartment at the student housing building.

Mount SInai is my #1 choice for sure, NYU is a close 2nd.

I received an II for 11/14. I'm going to be in New York on 127-12/10. Do you think it'll hurt if I push my interview back here?

KDiz, Please cancel your interview so you don't steal my spot! You've probably already been accepted at a much better school...

That's almost a whole month.. a whole month of people getting accepted while you are just waiting for your chance to interview. There will be less seats available when you interview in Dec, and that is a fact. Does that lower your chances? Probably, unless you are an outstanding applicant with a 40+ MCAT and 4.0 GPA.

That being said, I don't think anyone will be able to tell you exactly how much you would be hurting yourself by moving your interview date a month back.

Personally, I try to get my interviews all as early as possible.. that's the only sure way of avoiding any disadvantages related to time. I would suggest you do the same, especially at such a great school like Mt. Sinai.

About the gym - in addition to the 24/7 gym in Aron and the basketball courts, we get free access to the Y (ten or so blocks away). They have a big weight/cardio room, courts, a swimming pool, and you get access to many classes there too (like zumba).

Just interviewed here. Awesome school/location/beliefs/students. Just flew way up on my list. Hoping for some love in a few weeks!

Also really enjoyed today! It was nice meeting you MedicalAuthor - hopefully someday when you publish your novels I will have the chance to read them and be like OMG I MET THIS GUY.

Also loved Sinai, my favorite favorite favorite school so far.

Can any of you guys that interviewed recently reiterate when Mt. Sinai said they will begin releasing acceptances?

I thought I wrote it down somewhere, but I can't find it. I remember them saying something about November but would be nice to ge some verification.

By the numbers, seems like it's pretty much 50/50 shot for us out of staters.. though hopefully interviewing early increasing our odds even more. This is my dream school so I am very eager to hear back from them

Early November is the first batch, which everyone up to yesterday, at least, will be included in

How much was the Sani secondary?

Is there any point in submitting the secondary now, or am I too late?

I guess I'm not gonna get an invite from Sinai?

It's not too late to submit a secondary. I know current Sinai students that didn't submit theirs until really late in the process as well.

Can those of you who got interviews (congrats!) let us know when you were complete? 🙂

Hey! So I was "complete" late August. I was thinking about sending out a letter of interest/update here to show them I really am super interested. Does anyone know if they're receptive to either kind of these letters??

I sent an update letter a few weeks ago (complete early August). I called before hand to make sure they accepted letters because they have no guidelines like the other New York schools which spell it out and the admissions staff seemed really nice and told me it would be added to my file.
