Interviewed 9/20, Accepted today.

AHhhhhhh this was one of my top choices, and my favorite SUNY school. I dreamt of this day. So happy to have an acceptance at one of my top choices this early.

Good luck to the others, I hope others get good news soon as well.

Haha thanks! I'm glad I got love from the SUNY schools, I did not expect this. And best of luck to you, I hope you get some good news in the mail soon.🙂

This is killing me! I interviewed on 9/14 and haven't heard back yet. My email has never been checked this often.

You're not alone! I interviewed the 21st and am pretty bummed that I didn't get any email!

I also interviewed on the 21st.... waiting to hear back also

Hey guys! I hope you all get some good news soon. It's tough, but try to keep some hope.

I got a complete email. 7/30 for me and no word since. I'm OOS though and this school was kind of a reach in that regard.

what time did the interview day start?

building off of this, what time did your interview days end? I understand this will vary by individual and the email I received stated approximately 2:30 PM, but I'm curious what the actually experience has been thus far.

I was out by about 2:10 PM. One girl had a 2:00 PM interview however, so I'm guessing she was out by 2:30.

I actually had 3 PM interview so wasn't out until 330. But I was the last one there by almost 45 minutes out of 8 people.

Same! I was there well after everyone else. Felt kind of weird when I was leaving. Everyone had already had their interviews by the time we toured the facility; my second interview didn't even start until everyone else had left.

Anyone have any idea if this school is receptive or responsive to LOIs?

do you guys think OOS applications are processed at a different pace than In-state applications?

I'm OOS, Submitted 7/8, App complete 8/1, Interview Invite 8/23, Interviewed 9/27, and accepted 10/16!!

They took awhile to mark my app complete--but after that things moved pretty quickly. Things may have bogged down a bit since I submitted really early

You get two interviews...mine were both with faculty. The mood is very relaxed...they take you to other rooms in the admissions office, and made me feel very welcome 🙂 I'd suggest staying with a student host--they give you a good feel of the atmosphere and themes of the school. As for the interview, just have a good sense of why you're getting yourself into medicine , and talk sincerely about your experiences 🙂 pm me if you have other questions! Goodluck!

Those who got accepted to stony brook last week, have you received your acceptance packet in the mail? I'm in CA but haven't seen anything!

I'm debating whether or not I should submit a secondary to Stony Brook, given that it's already late October. I'm In-State and have a 31Q and 3.64 (the rest of my application is solid). I've already submitted secondaries to 18 other schools (16 MD; 2 DO).

I called their admissions office on Friday and was told it wasn't too late to submit, but I feel that they probably wouldn't tell me it was too late unless the actual deadline had passed.

I don't really care about the app fee (after 18 apps, what's another $100? lol).

Any thoughts?

(Btw, congrats to you guys who've gotten IIs and acceptances, that's really awesome! 👍)

it's not too late unless it's past the deadline.

I got the email on 10/16 and I got the acceptance package in the mail on 10/19. But I live on Long Island, so you might take longer. The package says I have until Nov. 2 to reply with the deposit.
congrats!

Ahh perfect! Yah I'm out of town the next few days so I was worried I'd miss the packet for a few days...congrats on stony brook! Perhaps we'll be classmates!

Anyone hear back yet that interviewed in October? Or has it mostly been people in September interviews.

You probably have already submitted, but I wanted to say that last year when I applied there was a snag with one of my transcripts so my primary wasn't even complete until late October. I think I received and returned my secondary for SBU by mid-November, and it worked out pretty well for me. You have better stats than me and your IS so I vote yes, submit.
Also in general it is best to apply early but it matters more at some schools than it does at others, I think SBU fills its class a little slower than other schools.

I think some people up to the 27th of September have heard about acceptances. Interviewed on the 28th and still waiting. Has anyone heard about being placed on a waitlist or have only acceptances gone out?

Interviewed on the 28th as well. Nothing yet.

Interviewed sept, 21st. No word, yet. I don't think they officially waitlist people. They just shuffle your application to the bottom of the pile and take a look at it later. A lot of people still get accepted this way though from what I understand.

complete since 2 months ago and still no interview invite, should I be worried or i just have to wait a bit longer? 🙁

Interviewed Oct. 2 and haven't heard anything..... But that's not saying much...

Thanks a lot for the response. I actually submitted Stony Brook's secondary today. I know the school is a long shot, but we'll see what happens.

Also, I'm not too sure that my stats are better than yours (your MCAT listed on your MDapps kills mine, haha). Nevertheless, thank you for the input, I really appreciate it.

Does anyone know when SBU notifies you if you are on a waitlist? I interviewed 9/14 and still haven't heard. I am not expecting good news at this point.

I dont know anything about the waitlist, but they told us they would notify us at around 6 weeks. That leads me to believe they will at least give you some sort of news by the end of next week.

Is anyone who is scheduled to interview Tuesday cancelling their interviews, or are you going to try to make it out? Just got an email from the University that all classes and events, including SOM, are cancelled for at least Monday.

all stony brook classes and events (including the school of medicine) are cancelled tuesday as well

They're back in the admissions office! Nancy just replied to my email from earlier this week. For those of you needing to contact the office you can probably call/email now 🙂

does stony brook give silent rejections? I haven't heard a peep (no interview invite)

interviewed last week and haven't heard back yet. lol

Can anyone comment on the conditions up in LI right now? I know the admissions office has been closed all week and I have an interview in a couple of days
