For those who have already received the acceptance package, is it sent to your preferred or permanent address?

lol just making sure...thanx for clarifying and congratulations!

Accepted today via email! Interviewed late October!

CONGRATS everyone!!!! Maybe we'll meet next Fall.
Good luck for those still waiting : )

Waitlisted 🙁 Interviewed 9/14.
Anyone know if there is a lot of movement on the waitlist?

Waitlisted as well. Interviewed 9/14. No real surprise since one of my interviews did not go that great. Great school and no hard feelings.

Waitlisted today. Didn't get a WOW from the school, and considering the interviews not going great, not too disappointed.

Good luck everyone else!

Just called them. Their waitlist is not ranked and the soonest they will get to reevaluating people on their waitlist is in May, so it seems like it's a long shot for me now. I really liked the school when I interviewed there, so I can't say I am not disappointed.

Is there a fb page for accepted students? Would love to start getting connected to potential classmates!

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using SDN Mobile

Anyone get an II with a 29 mcat? I have a 29q and 3.6. In-state. Submitted secondary in August and haven't heard yet...

Anyone know which days they usually send out decisions, or is it relatively random? Anymore acceptances?

Just got the acceptance package! They included a full-page letter that highly suggested me to take biochemistry and how beneficial it is for medical school, and even offered me to take it during the summer before matriculating. This is strange because I indicated that I took multiple biochemistry courses on my AMCAS. They also said to send them verification of my AP English exam that was a 4 or higher and that I needed to take one extra English course next semester, even though I took two years of intensive reading/writing in it already.

Don't worry about the biochem thing. they send that to everyone. i had never taken biochem and ignored it and it was fine, i still passed.

You'll need to take care of this english thing though. Maybe they're not familiar with your school's transcript and missed that. Probably a good idea to send them an email pointing out that you took english classes and see if there's still an issue.

Just curious, but besides tuition, do instate applicants get a boost as opposed to out of state applicants in admissions?

I've been complete here since 7/20...does the fact that I haven't heard back yet mean I've been silently rejected?

I had a late mcat and some trouble with my app, so I submitted the secondary quite late (November 5th) and its still not complete almost a month later, any advice? do you guys think I should call?
thanks!

I'd like to know this too...can any current students comment on the possibility of receiving an interview this late in the cycle if you were complete in July/August?

I am wondering this myself. I've been complete since mid September and haven't heard anything

When I was at my interview, the admissions office made it a pretty big emphasis to tell us that the office works thoroughly through applications, and that we should expect them to take a long time to process and evaluate our applications. I would imagine with the complications like Sandy, backlog in the cycle, the holidays, that they're just plodding through the apps. I don't remember if I've seen rejections on the thread, but if you haven't heard back hang in there! Stony Brook says they work slowly, but thoroughly 🙂 so for now, no news can still be good news!!

This is what was said during my interview date as well. With respect to Sandy, they said that in the past few decades the School of Medicine has been closed for a handful of days all together, and the superstorm resulted in them being closed for a full week. That would back them up, plus they had to reschedule all the interviews from that week. Due to the unique circumstances I would give admissions some extra time - the safety and well-being of the community have been at the forefront of everyone's mind.

They do take relatively more time to review applications, but it's due to the comprehensive nature of their review process. Though it's difficult, do your best to relax and let the process take care of itself.

Anyone know if Stony Brook sends a confirmation that the materials needed to hold a place in the class were received?
