I just got an email saying i should get the decision by snail mail soon. The problem is I'm in Vietnam right now.... Am i coming home to good news or bad? I remember someone in the thread said snail mail is usually good news.

I didn't get this email... Were you hold-listed first?

I think the fact that they emailed you notifying you that you would be getting your decision in the mail soon is a good sign. If a rejection letter was on its way, I don't think they would bother to send an email. Good luck.

I did mine near Kings Plaza (the mall) in Brooklyn. It was $85 and the class lasted for about 2.5hrs. Not sure if you're familiar with the neighborhoods in Brooklyn, but the site is on the border between Marine Park and Old Mill Basin.

my guess is that they won't have an alternate list this year, and they will just reject or accept us directly from holds.

sigh, guess i should get pretty serious about applying again. i wonder when I should submit my secondary to downstate the next cycle if they won't notify us about an acceptance mid-July.

By the way, this news is even worse for those of us out of state. Does anyone know the deadline for being able to become a NY resident for tuition purposes in the 2nd year?

Yea, that's what I was thinking (at least for anyone that got that email). I'm not sure if everyone did though. I would think that they have another group of applicants set aside to offer acceptances until that time, unless they're really not offering anymore acceptances until then (which I find unlikely). Maybe it's just my prepare for the worst and hope for the best mentality haha. Either way, good luck to all still waiting!

i think the whole "receive notification by mid-July" means thats when they will be rejecting everyone else. I think as people withdraw, they will give out offers. There's no telling when someone will withdraw and when they will give out an offer at this point. Good luck to us all.

I feel like they are playing with my emotions.

Their website says 1 month prior to registration, which was 8/20 for this year's M2. So I'm guessing 7/20. That's less than a week to get everything ready. Great...

I almost want to just to regain my sanity. Finding it really hard to sack up and reapply for round two. Going through another year of this is going to be awful.

I think it will make sense to have another group of applicants set aside to offer acceptances to until that time, but I feel like if that were the case, Downstate should have sent them e-mails as well notifying them (e.g. placing them on the alternate list).

Someone posted a few days ago that Downstate said they were starting an alternate list in early June. Judging by the email we got, it's either we're not going to be on the alternate list or there was a miscommunication... I hope we really don't have to wait until MID-JULY (2-3 weeks before orientation) to hear back...

I would go ahead and chalk this up as a rejection at this point. the chances of getting in are slim to none. best to start making other plans

Agreed, I believe that there should be another group of applicants (who maybe haven't been notified that they are on this newly created alternate list). Who really knows what goes on w/ med school admissions though. For pretty much every school, I feel like all we can do is speculate on what all these emails/lists really "mean." I'll interpret it as not great news and if I'm wrong, then it'll be a pleasant surprise haha. If any spots DO open up after this end-of-June re-review, then I can only imagine it being a handful at best. But again, who really knows?

2/14 - Interview Invite !?!?!?!? (was not expecting it so soon after getting the grade request. Unless they only asked because they already had me in line for an interview?)
3/18 - Interviewed
3/22 - Sent in spring grades
5/3 - Hold for Spring Consideration
5/16 - Received email & voice-mail that Ms. Levine tried to contact me
5/17 -Returned the call ACCEPTED!😀

Did my EMT training and refresher through this company. I know they also offer CPR training and have multiple locations throughout the city. Not sure of the price though.

I just asked them about the email. The lady said that they sent out this email to everyone and that you can still get accepted at any time. The alternate list would still be formed in early june but can still be forming by the end of june?

She didn't seem to imply that this email was something special and said that those who didn't get it should check their spam. Can anyone else confirm this by calling up?

I've checked every inbox and folder I have but still can't find that email. I'm sure it probably means nothing that some people didn't get the email, it would seem like an unusually nuanced approach in separating and specifically informing applicants...

And then they enjoy us going crazy analyzing the e-mail nine ways to sunday.

That's my theory.
