So as the admissions process wraps up I thought I would bump this slightly inactive thread.

First off, anyone know of a FB group to start meeting those accepted?
Anyone planning on attending the USC tailgate next weekend?

And the best question, for anyone accepted (or pending) to both USC Columbia and Greenville, how are you making your final decision?

I feel both school are a similar fit, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. USC-Cola has all of the university resources (USC sports, gym, campus activities), the ultrasound program, and a proven curriculum with match history but in older facilities.

Greenville on the other hand is new and therefore full of tech., but you trade all of the university benefits of being in Columbia. New curriculum (heard of a few hiccups here and there) but motivated faculty and lots of support for students since they need the school to succeed. EMT training, etc.. Thoughts?

No Facebook group yet it would seem and I know a couple of people who will be attending the tailgate.

As for Greenville vs. Columbia, it really comes down to personal preference. I personally believe Greenville has a bright future ahead of them (though I am a bit biased as I was born and raised in Greenville). GHS provides one of the top healthcare delivery systems in the U.S. which is quite appealing. My personal issue with Greenville is their lack of wet lab research. While they encourage/require research in their curriculum, it is healthcare delivery based, which is quite the opposite with Columbia. With having an interest in performing scientific research as a medical student, it is unappealing to me the lack of opportunities Greenville provides for that. There are other various factors but that is a major one for myself.

hopefully that helps some of you that are waiting.

feel free to send me a private message if you have any questions about the school -- general or specific. i absolutely love it here!

If anyone is starting a facebook page you can add me, Doug Stogner. And I'll be at the tailgate.

Hey Guys!

I'm a M-1. If there are any questions feel free to send me a PM. Good luck and to all of those who were accepted already, Welcome to the USC SOM family! 🙂

Have all the accept/reject/waitlist notifications been sent out yet?

I've heard nothing but radio silence since being put on hold in February, and have been very unsuccessful in contacting the admissions office...

Email Ms. Streeter and she can update you. Good luck.

Accepted today via phone call!

Interestingly enough, I have no idea if I was pulled off the wait list-- I would assume so, but I never heard anything from the admissions office after my "hold" letter. Oh, well-- an acceptance is an acceptance! I got the impression that they sent out multiple offers today.

Any updates on a Facebook group?

I still don't see one online. If you add me as a friend then I will start one and add you to it. Unfortunately Facebook will not let you start a group if you don't have anyone to add to it right away. My name id Doug Stogner if you want to look for me. From Columbia SC

I got accepted on Monday via phone call off the top third of the waitlist 🙂

Good luck to those still waiting, they should be offering more acceptances this week and next

Feel free to PM me with any questions about USC!
