Three more sites to hear from & I have a feeling that one of them won't send out invites until the 15th. The waiting is driving me nuts . . . Sometimes I just sit there and hit the refresh button on both my e-mail and this forum.

Has anybody gotten an invitation for the general outpatient/trauma abuse outpatient track at Primary Children's Center?
 
Email interview invitation from LSU Health Sciences Center. I applied to the Adult/Child Track. It appeared to be a mass email (bcc's, no personalization) and from the email, it was unclear whether this was an email to applicants from all tracks or just the adult/child track. (So for those of you who applied to the Adult or Infant/Child tracks, there could still be emails coming.) They are offering two interview dates in January, the 13th and 20th.

Very disappointed that I didn't get any news today - I guess I'll be hearing from all 10 of my remaining sites next week! Somebody from my program told me that last year she received 1/3 of her interview notifications in the last week, including an interview invitation an hour before the deadline. So, I guess there's still hope!

Given that WVU doesn't do interviews, and I've read on this thread that people have already heard from Nassau, Albany, and Pennsylvania Hospital, it looks like there are really only 6 remaining sites I could be hearing from next week. Does anyone have any word on any of these?

I have heard from Albany Consortium (12/01) and Institute of Living--Child Track (12/05) about interviews. Albany was only scheduling interviews in December, so they may be done with invitations. I received a mass email today from IOL with detailed interview information for both Child and Adult applicants--which they said they would send once all interviews had been scheduled. So I think they are done notifying as well.

I posted last week that I heard from a friend of mine who is a current intern at Cambridge Hospital that they hadn't even begun reviewing applications yet! She said she thought they would be reviewing applications this week. So don't panic yet about not hearing from them! I'm in the same boat as you. 😉

Not necessarily, I received an interview offer last Sunday around 3pm. I don't know if that is good news or more anxiety provoking for you though! =) Good luck!

Applied to Cambridge, Track II; also have not heard anything yet. Heard that the site was still reviewing applications this week.
 
I received mass interview email for the James Haley (Tampa VA). Dates are 1/6 and 1/13 with some phone interview dates.
 
I see on the big list that Dayton VA sent email invites on 12/1, but I can't seem to find the original post for that one. Does anyone know anything about this site? Any other invites or rejections? Thanks!!

I also just received an email rejection from St. Johns, which I am pretty bummed about because I thought that was a really great fit for me. C'est la vie. I am at 3 interviews, 2 rejections, and waiting to hear from 12 sites.

My interview is for the Medical Psychology - HIV/AIDS track.
 
New York Center for Child Development (NYCCD) sent out an email December 5th stating that it was not offering any internship positions.

Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center sent out a rejection email December 7th.

A friend is a current intern at UC Santa Cruz, and she said that she got her interview invitation one hour before the final deadline last year. Don't know if that was a fluke, but it's possible that they tend to be last minute there in general.

Congrats on the interviews, and thanks for the information! That's really good to know about Cambridge. I'm still holding out hope for Albany, despite the early interview dates. You received your invitation to interview one day after the application deadline! According to the APPIC directory, they received 173 applications last year, so there's no way they could have sorted through all of them in one day, which leads me to believe that there's at least a chance that some more interview slots are available there. Institute of Living seems to be out completely, though 🙁

I'm waiting on UCSC too. I haven't heard anything. I hope it will be positive news, it's my second choice! Good luck, this process is HORRIBLE, but it's nice that there are other people to drown in misery with 😉
 
Looking at some of the lists of sites people have applied to... it seems like some folks just focused on 1 type of site (child, CC, VA, etc.) and some put in a couple of each... so I'm curious for those who applied to a variety of types of sites... have you been getting interviews across the board (like 1 interview at a CC, 1 interview at a VA, etc.) or have you just been getting interviews at the type of site that most closely matches your training (if your training favors 1 particular population/service/modality)?
 
Nothing like coming home from a crazy day at my externship and fine a rejection from Pace U CC.

I really, really wanted them tom interview me, though for some reason they have it for my program and never interview our people.

So for me, everywhere I applied has either an adolescent/family or young adult component, but may be generalist site or a child specific site or a college counseling site (my experience has been mostly with adolescents and young adults with a smattering of young kids, families, couples and adults, in comm mental health). I also tried to apply places that I might have an opportunity to do DBT. So far, I have gotten interviews and rejections from each type of site. Ultimately, I want to specialize in working with adolescents and their parents.

How do you keep hope alive?

Do you have any interviews? I focus on those, remember that everything happens for a reason - perhaps they weren't a good fit, maybe to allow me more time to focus on less interviews but prepare well, etc., remind myself that I only need 1 to MATCH...

I am geographically restricted, so I tried to generalize my training a bit more in the last year or so, just so I could apply to more sites. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have worked out so well for me yet... I was mostly child focused until the fourth year of my program, so I applied to two all-child sites. Then I added adult experience my fourth year so that I could apply to internships that required work with both age populations (which apparently didn't work since I did not match and I wasn't offered interviews ANYWHERE that had adults, even if it was a mixed-age population rotation), so I added some more adult experience in a military facility this last year and applied to two VAs, two college counseling centers (long-shot cuz I don't have any CC experience), two very general-seeming CMHCs, and like I said above, two sites that are all children (one inpatient, one school-based). Last year I was thinking that I was too focused on pediatric neuropsyc because, even though I was not geographically restricted last year, I only got two interviews out of 18 applications. I did apply to very competitive sites with the same group of applicants applying to those sites (same interest in ped. np). This year I'm wondering if, like I think you are suggesting with your post (maybe I'm wrong in my assumption though), if the sites I applied to don't like that I suddenly went more general in my fourth and fifth years. I have been rejected from one of the CMHCs, one of the CC centers, one of the VAs (probably both since others got interviews from the second one), and I only have one interview at the other CMHC. I'm really hoping that all my child focus the first three years of my program gives me better news from the two child sites next week... not expecting an invitation from the other CC since I don't have experience with that specifically.

Sounds like he doesn't have any interviews yet... which is an awful feeling... how many more do you have left to hear from MonkeysUncle?? Last year I had one "given" interview with the Navy cuz they interview pretty much everyone who applies (even though I had no adult experience lol), and this year I have one interview that I am considering a "given" since statistically they have tended to interview almost everyone who applies since they get such a low number of applicants. I counted those "givens" out because I feel like my application and experience don't matter much in the scheme of things with those sites... and I was left with nothing until Dec. 13th last year when I finally was offered an interview based on my application. As you can probably tell, I did not match and I am here again this year going through the same experience... I have been rejected from 3, probably 4, sites that have based their decisions on application materials and experience. Let's hang in there, I do believe that a lot of sites take all the time they can to review applications, which means we may not get any good news until next week!!! That first interview invitation is a great feeling for sure😀 but it would definitely be nice to have more than one or two in the last week...
