I looked for a thread like this and didn't find one. I thought we could use this to give each other advice.

Please post your Qbank averages, practice exam scores and your score on the real deal.

If anyone would like to contribute a guest post on how they prepared for the COMLEX on my blog: theparamount.wordpress.com, please PM me or email me through the website.

My exam also had unusually long question stems. I hear that from many people who took the exam.

Did ANYONE who took the exam this year experience short "typical COMLEX" question stems (like the ones on COMSAE/COMBANK/COMQUEST) ??

I took mine recently and 90% were one sentence, maybe two. Might have made it more difficult though. About 50% of questions were two or three part. Some oddball OMM, although not much OMM altogether. Peds, OB/GYN, Pulm. mostly. Lots of hospital rules type stuff. It seemed like I was asked the exact same questions three times. Why don't they just shorten the test if they are going to do that!

Anyone from the second week in July call the nbome recently? I took it July 11. Called them to see about score release but they were super unhelpful ("generally it is 4-6 weeks afterwards, but they don't tell us until after they release them").

The website says on or before july 3. so 4-6 weeks after july 3....would be next wed. I took mine on Aug 9. Not sure if I'll get mine in a week, but at the latest you should get it next wednesday. I hope you get them soon :) I know it sucks waiting.

They released more after that one - at least until July 7th.

I'm guessing you meant you took yourws on July 9th, not Aug 9th? I would bet you will be in the next release for sure.

Oh. ok.
I took mine Aug 9, so it will be a while cause I have never heard of someone getting it sooner than 4 weeks. I have noticed from comparisons on the forum, that on avg, its usually like 5 weeks and a few days. So I'm sure you'll get yours soon. :)

My data point, 4 weeks studying used uworld comquest and step up to medicine. Step 2 - 588. What's the highest step 2 score you've heard of? Heard rumors of 750 in my class at pcom/ who are these people?

I feel my score was lower than it was for Step 1. As stated before, I took mine the 13th. I partially blame all the biostats.

Got my score today as well - took it July 11.

See previous post for feelings about the exam.

Recap:
Comsae C (4 weeks before test, without studying): 440
Comsae A (1 week before test): 623
Actual score: 595

Much better than I expected, as I walked out of the exam feeling pretty frustrated with it as a whole. WOOO just so glad that I passed!

Test July 9th, comsae a 489, comsae b 575. Did DIT and combank fully --(69%) Felt decent leaving comlex 2, confident I would get 500-575 and score came in today was 491, disappointed but I'll get over it. Happy I passed and am near average.. And it's over :)

Hello everyone...

Step 1 (2011): 495

Combank Step 2: ~69% first time through, ~89% second time through
Comquest Step 2: 70% first time through
Comsae B: 548 (after 3 weeks of studying, 1 week before test)
Comlex Step 2: 602

No rhyme or reason, but i'm satisfied

Does anyone feel that COMBANK helped on some of the harder, more odd questions? Or was it just a good review for the basics

COMBANK was def. good for the oddball questions. There were still many on the exam that were not on COMBANK, but it at least prepares you for the randomness.

I used Combank as my primary resource for studying, and I had several odd/weird questions on Comlex almost verbatim from Combank. I was pretty happy with my Step 2 score too.

Comsae b 684
702 on step 2
Read master the board twice and did uworld, comquest, and combank. I did combank twice. The test was similar to combank. 620s on comlex 1 and 250s on usmle step1.

Wow guys thanks for posting that the scores are out. Why can't they just email us when they release our score??

Took the real deal July 13. My scores:

COMQUEST 1st time through: 68%
COMSAE A (before starting COMQUEST): 525
COMSAE B (after completing COMQUEST one week before exam): 660

COMLEX Level 2: 710

I'm pleased with the results because I walked out feeling like crap. My exam had a lot of variety between short odd-ball questions and longer USMLE-type questions. I would say the variety and topics encountered on COMQUEST was very similar to the real deal. One more COMLEX to go!

More scores up dudes.

Broke 700. Ecstatic right now.

I just found out that I did the same, congrats! What did you use to prepare? I am trying to put together a guide for good resources to use for my lower-classmen gunners shooting for >700 on Level 2.

Thanks, nice work yourself! What field are you going into?

Here is my post from earlier in the thread with a few corrections:

,,,,,,
I am now a believer in comquest, what a great qbank. It really hits some great points and there was a lot of times I was able to select an otherwise difficult answer because of something comquest touched on. And the OMM Q's--I would pay the full qbank fee just for access to these. They were that good. Do not use it as your primary info source though.. Nothing can replace working your butt off 3rd year and solidifying everything with UWorld.

In chronological summary:

Read and stayed on it 3rd year. Had the UWorld yearlong subscription and chipped away at it.
Hit UWorld hard & studied Secrets leading up to CK. Did UWorld 1.5x total.
**took USMLE step 2 CK**
Comsae C -- mid-600's; (pre-OMM studying--the score report made that very clear :) )
Did comquest in the 3 weeks leading up to the comlex. Average was 80%.
Crammed Savarese and my old level I OMM notes for 2-3 days
(This was all over about 2.5 months due to the fact I didn't take any time off..probably could have cut it in half if I had dedicated study time)

Comlex 1 546

comsae A 540 (3 wk out)
Comlex 2 620

Comquest is an excellent resource. Did about 60% combank and felt it was a weaker representation.

A friend of mine took the exam the same day I did and took the USMLE a week later and got the USMLE score back and we are still waiting on the COMLEX score.

Do you feel like your comlex score even matters? I got in the low 700s and I don't think Acgme residencies will care at all.

Sorry I didn't mean anything toward you. I thought someone was saying who cares what your Comlex score is.

I took the exam July 16, and the wait is driving me crazy! This past Monday marked 5 weeks for me. Of course they released up to the 14th!

SCORES ARE UP!!! Wow, that was a long waiting period but Im glad I got my 708, anything less would have been considered a disappointment in my eyes, and for my ortho match. Guarenteed now, should be a shoe in hopefully, so excited.

Anyone who split their exam with the 6/27 fiasco getting scores they think are WAY too low? I took my second half on 7/26 (after a reschedule) and wondering if maybe they scored me wrong. My score was wayyyyyy below what I was getting on the COMSAE's and COMLEX. Anyone else dealing with this...???

NBOME says I did. They literally look like roughly HALF what I expected... so I'm PRAYING that it's a **** up...

To be clear: that's the scores from taking half of level 2 on 6/27 and the other half 7/26. Did you do the same?
