Worth the travel from the east coast?
It's $200, and traveling there would cost me at least $300, not to mention hotel, food, and tempting casinos.

I'm not even that interested in UNLV, more interested in east coast. Only thinking about it because I need the experience and things to boost up my app.

i hear ya. i signed up bc it's conveniently scheduled between exams for me and a lot of programs don't take grad students. so for me, it's worth it. upenn has one, but it costs like 1500 or something. pretty sweet deal IMO.

and gateway at umdnj is pretty selective as well. i think this is a solid bet, in addition to midwestern's program which is half as much

Are you from around vegas though? It only seems like a good deal if you're within 2 hours away since it's only a two-day course. Just my opinion.

I attended both UNLV and Midwestern sim courses last year. My dental experience was lacking (~40 hrs shadowing at the time), so I'm pretty sure it helped my application in that aspect. I had never met a dental student or visited a dental school, so the idea of being a dental student was very abstract to me. If you don't have much experience and have never visited a dental school, I'd recommend attending a sim course prior to your application. It helps you get your foot in the door and learn a significant amount about the school. I had a great experience.
